Anko Iced Coffee Maker $7 (Was $20) + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store/ OnePass/ $65 Order) @ Kmart / C&C Only @ Target

Happy New Year, all. This product was so 2023.

The Anko "Iced Coffee Maker" is now down to $7 at both Kmart and Target.

Having just unboxed one, I can confirm it appears to be functionally equivalent to the Coffee to Go, except that it comes with a different cup.

Yes, that means it brews hot coffee. And, yes, perhaps that explains why it is on clearance.

Apart from being cheaper, what is the benefit of this over something like a pour over coffee cone like this that takes up considerably less space and gives you way more control over the coffee making process? These single use appliances really irk me as they just end up in the landfill eventually when the novelty wears off and starts taking up too much bench space?

Agree about the fact that this will end up in landfill and they are annoying because of it, but the simplicity and speed of this compared to a pour over is a massive advantage. I can see using this while doing other things whereas to use a pour over you need to wait and heat up the water and slowly pour it in. Compare that to getting this ready at night and flicking a switch in the morning. For someone drinking these often, I can certainly see the convenience benefit, but agree they're very niche and something that will most likely get a few uses and wind up in the bin. I'm not buying this, but I do have a filter coffee machine (not espresso), so same principle I suppose. I use it daily.

    • It heats up the water. But that's about it. You're probably better of with one of these: https://www.kmart.com.au/product/manual-espresso-black-43387…

      • I have an aeropress and hell in tempted by that at that price. Will it make owrfect coffee? No, but at that money it would be good enough in a pinch. Pair it with a $3 milk foam wand and you git mobile easy flat whites.

There’s absolutely no advantage to the Kmart appliance. The V60 knockoff provides you with full control, with no moving parts or need for electricity. It won’t end up as landfill when the novelty wears off after a few mediocre coffees or it carks it.

Even better a Hario Switch (when they’re on sale) for delicious immersion cold brew. But anyone spending $7 on a coffee machine is probably gonna be buying pre-ground beans off the shelf from Woolies anyway lol

  • Which coffee grind size for this machine?

Think I'll just keep pouring milk into a shot of coffee from my espresso machine and save some landfill.

Looks like Kmart has copied the minipresso $35 -

    Landfill

    • It's what kmart do best!

Ice coffee is made from hot coffee + ice (maybe + milk). Another unnecessary appliance taking up bench top space.

    i make ice coffee easier
step 1 - pull a shot or 2 of coffee from my coffee machine into a glass
step 2 - pour milk till the glass is 3/5 full
step 3 - add ice till glass full
    step 4 - drink

  • when you feel you are useless, think about this "iced" coffee maker

    • Such wise words.
And think about how much it's worth. Hmm
