Buy 4 and good for a home DIY hoist to service the car and do engine and transmission replacements

    • Ooh that’s a good idea ,
Also so heavy you’ll want to tell you mates you’ve run out of room in your car and go put it in theirs yourself .
      Thanks mate .

    • You'll also want to buy a stack of those cheap wrenches from Bunnings so you can put them around the base of the jacks to keep them stable, much like with horses

    • I actually came to the comments to ask if this is possible or just a really bad idea…

This would be awesome if it's legit not an unsafe thing to do. (assuming some common sense is used)

e.g. for an old Beetle weighing less than 800kg?

Make sure to use some good quality dynabolts into a concrete slab and extra zip ties

Pretty sure you need specific lifting points on bullbar/rear bar to use these jacks.

Generally speaking, yes. Arguably the most over-rated and under-used off-road product on the market

      • If youre an amateur yes, but if you're really far out someone in your group best have something for every situation.

Yes and no. In practice it's nigh on impossible to cater for every situation. There are undoubtedly circumstances where a high lift jack might be very useful but In all my off roading and field work I've never seen a circumstance where one was required. In the days of Len Beadell being (or travelling with) a mechanic, engineer, doctor, dentist, cook and off road driving pro was almost a necessity.

You can carry every spare and tool available and still get stuck/damage your vehicle so that - practically - it needs to be recovered. You make your choices and take your chances accordingly.

Used one of these to pull out a bunch of fence posts. Worked well.

    • Thanks for the tip. That’s why I’m considering one of these too. What a great use. I was thinking i could tip up my zero turn with it but it’s probably not that safe.

      • Would be fine for a mower. Anything really heavy would def avoid. I also used mine to lift up a single axle box trailer to change a wheel.

  • anyone used Mean Mother gear ?, is it any good ?….. can't find reviews….

    • I got their spare wheel garbage bag and it was a cluster f of a thing. Had different male and female clips which didnt click together. They sent out a new set and same problem. They acknowledged there was a manufacturing problem and sent a third set which was right. But it was a pain to put on. Sold it, got a crashpad and it was 10 times better.

Not a high lift jack, but the one and only product of theirs I got.

  • Also be aware these can be o so dangerous in several different ways .
There’s a vid on YouTube where a girl is standing in front of a hi-lift jack when the handle suddenly comes up , smashes her in the face and knocks half her teeth out .
They are a bit of a weapon, best to handle according
