Good price if you want the game now. Need to select USD to get this price. It is bit more if you select to pay in AUD.

The game is designed well so that if you get stuck there are usually different ways to overcome the challenge. Although they don't guide you or tell you that with a quest marker or waypoint and you have to figure it for yourself or look it up similar to older classic games.
- Change your build (equipment/skills/stance) a bit or your playstyle to suit the boss
- Level up a bit in other optional areas
- Collect more equipments, curios and spells in optional areas/quest of the game
- You can complete extra optional areas and they are made specifically to help you overcome the boss for that area
- Some bosses have weaknesses that are not explicitly told you can check Reddit for help
- You can as you said battle the same boss out and learn all its attack patterns and overcome it with sheer skill
S/he won’t play it since stream watched. Your tips are good for the ones who will play it and got stuck. I got platinum trophy on PS. Awesome game GOTY to me.
Is the game punishing? If I lose in a boss fight, would I get sent back quite a bit like dark souls? Or do I get sent back just before a boss fight like stellar blade?
@azngamer: No punishment, which makes it a lot of fun to try different builds for boss fights
@nmc4911: Sounds good. I hear from people that it's difficult and got a habit scared from buying it. Personally, no issue progressing if there are no punishment, but if I have to clear enemies and trek back to the boss, I'm quite likely to drop the game after tilting quite a few consecutive losses
@azngamer: Usually there’s a checkpoint just before the major boss fight, and I think the game encourages trying different builds when you are stuck somewhere, it costs nothing to reset your talent points at checkpoint. I’m currently 4 achievements away from completing all 81 achievements on Steam.
@azngamer: No punishment is much easier than Dark Souls; you won't lose anything when the character dies. And the build is way OP. The only thing I am not satisfied with is the weapon number less than Dark Souls.
@azngamer: Sent back to just before boss fight like Stellar Blade. No punishment for dying.
@lowbrow: Lies! I get sent back to the last camp-fire equivalent. So many walk of shame especially with poison snake boss and the whiteclad nobel.
Enjoying the game heaps but seem to be stuck with the latter
@azngamer: Haha, true there is sometimes a short walk of shame, but I can't think of any challenging enemies between the save point and any boss.
lol buddy sub $20, have some respect for yourself .
I’m half way through and it isn’t that hard so far. Some bosses take a few goes but I’m actually finding it very well tuned. Only a couple of bosses have really taken a while for me to beat - so far. I find it easier than Fromsoft games.
Fantastic game though.
Just took me three days to pass one boss (White clad noble / Serpent) on the first level (penultimate boss). I have sworn to stop playing the game but keeps me trying to pass that damn part.
Is it very hard? Yes.
You really really need to learn to time the rolls/evades and button mash the combos to play it well.Same! But so rewarding and it actually forces me to git gud and learn many different aspects of the game instead of button mashing and using the same few skills all the time.
I'm usually a turn based strategy game player and have avoid FPS or Souls-like games. This game, I'm fully enjoying because there's no stupid punishment for failing.
Highly recommended game.
Never played souls like or god of war ARPG games before. i was about to quit 20mins into the game against the big head baby boss trying for like 2hr+ thinking his the 1st boss of the game, didn't know you can respec and try different builds. there has been a few bosses like that in the game but i'm at chapter 6 now majority of the fights later on as your skill improves and knowing how the game mechanics work becomes quite easy.
the big head baby is the mentor of this game
Should be leaving that monster until you upgrade your gourd to capture spirits (bit of spoiler there). Fight the real first boss (the fire one), skip the "Big Head" and come back to fight him once you've done the upgrade. His skill is essential later on.
This game is much easier than elden ring or Sekiro
I managed to get it from Taobao for sub $50 (¥235). The catch is that you would be required to be switch Steam store to China and there're not many ways to pay unless you have family or friends in China - for both Taobao and Steam China, using Wepay or Alipay. Switching region has its own costs too (i paid for a ¥4.5 game).
Do note region hopping is against steam TOS usually first time they just revert you, but repeated region hopping can get you banned
Yup. I'm aware. First time and plan to stick with the China region. Maybe I'm lucky, so far so good.
Any concerns that you won't get the same global Steam experience by using Steam China e.g. censorship for certain games? Or blocked completely in mainland China again?
@Lucille Bluth: There’s no feminist propaganda in the China one. Nor trigger words such as ‘quarantine’ or ‘isolation’ or ‘Covid-19’.
@Lucille Bluth: So far haven't noticed any censorship in games while using it on an Australia IP address.
@Lucille Bluth: This game was based on the Chinese story from the Ming dynasty and also fully developed in China? The censorship is none of concern, just that some foreign reviewers criticising for feminism is kinda joke, they\ completely lack of understanding of the story, the game or even the feminism itself.
This game was based on the Chinese story from the Ming dynasty
Are you sure it was the Ming Dynasty, not the Tang Dynasty?
@jimojr: It was a Ming fictionalisation of real events that happened during the Tang
@jimojr: Written in Ming Dynasty, story was from the Tang Dynasty.
@jimojr: the story was written in Ming and about things happened in Tang
@jimojr: It's set in the Tang Dynasty (introducing Buddhism into China). The novels were written in the Ming.
@Lucille Bluth: Stop being anti-China!
@Lucille Bluth: There’re certain (but not many) games not available in China region, e.g.Apex from my memory
Taobao has region switch service for 6 cny, which includes the Chinese region game fee.
there have been reports for banning and also some can’t switch back to AU
To be honest, I'm not planning to switch back to AU. It works for me this way and I read Chinese and can access CNY
Its not about the change back to AU, but if you live in AU and use CN store continuously Steam can ban you for that
Monke
Only completed chapter 2 and already feeling so tired. Soul like game is not for me, this game literally boss after boss fighting, also you can’t adjust difficulty level, way too hard
Use Wemod…
You can download a save that has NG+ and play from the start of the game from there, it is a lot easier because you get an extra revive on death and already have levels, skills and equipment. 80% of the fun in my opinion is working towards higher level and getting new gear upgrades while figuring out what skills, combos, equipments work well with your own playstyle but this might not interest you.
There will be mods that decrease difficulty for sure.
Unfortunately I play it on PS 5 and there is no option to decrease difficulty, I now stuck in chapter 3
True, will need to spend more time doing the optional side quest/secret areas until you level up a bit more imo or be able to change your build a bit more with new equipment.
There is an area in Chapter 4 where you can grind and level up very quickly, which is a way to reduce the difficulty. Keep going, and you will surprise yourself with how good you are! A Souls-like game rewards you for never giving up!
How?
Like “journey to the west” story. boss fight after boss fight. 81 to be exact. Tripitaka keeps trying to make you fight with 1 hand behind your back
Git gud still true in 2024.
Must be one of the 10 people left on "Concord"? lol
cool story
So true, the story and setting for dustborn is so much better
it's more of a sour taste, chickentaste. ;)
I'm surprised I had to scroll down this far in Australia.
Try Chinese language posts
Thanks CCP paid my Centrelink and Medicare
Yes aussies will be happy to bend over backwards as long as they can have some $$$ lol
Cool videogame, Japan 🥵
Cool videogame, China 🤬
GOTY
It's a good game, finished the game in two weeks, played wayyyy too much, was pretty much work, sleep, monke!
100% recommend as a couple game, my partner clears the map and does the collection and the mini bosses, and I just need to focus on the main bosses
What a partnership.
…and then later on at night, when the sun goes down and they retire from the battlefield. The true magic happens
It's when he gets to use his 如意金箍棒 on her. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Especially when arriving at the 黑风洞
the bosses are down there
Making this game very difficult to play is beyond me, from my experience after watching Dicky Cheung 's acting as Wu Kong in Journey to the West. Wu Kong the character itself made it so easy to defeat enemies.
Spoiler alert, the character you are playing in this game is not Wu Kong.
It's Monke
It kinda is though.. but not exactly at the beginning..
On the contrary, it IS exactly Wukong at the beginning 😁
I’d suggest this game is about 20% easier to play than the elden ring
The graphics of this game are beautiful. I completed chapter 2 in 15 hours.
Any recommendations for a compatible gaming laptop? TIA
any laptop with 4050 - 4090 gpu. higher = better as long your wallet can afford
if it cant be cracked and it needs that hardware to play might as well buy a ps5
Good Game, Good Price!
Thanks, bought 1.
Got it via a redemption after a recent nvidia purchase.
Took a while to get used to it (looked great but suffered lots of screen tearing. Once I sorted that out I had frame stutters, but eventually solved that and could play properly).
Took a bit to get used to, I like that its linear but I still managed to get lost. Couldn't beat tbe early bosses so I just did a few laps (leveling up until level 15) before I started my proper run.
Bosses are challenging but can be beaten.
Because this game has overly raised black levels and high amounts of fine detail on foliage, the video compression in GeForce Now makes the game look quite blocky on a 4K television for anyone planning on playing it on GFN.
I have experienced this too using Moonlight (uses Nvidia Geforce Game stream also), I thought it was due to me playing in 2K so I only played from my PC because of this. Other games are fine on TV even on 2K res though.
Wonder if anyone knows a workaround.
It's pushing the limits of what rendering codecs can achieve on the fly with fast motion and high detail. The only solution would be something lossless like the actual video signal coming out of your GPU but then you wouldn't be streaming it at that point
$74 for a game 140+ upvote in Ozbargain? Aren't people here playing free games or at least 80% off games?
I guess the value proposition for games is entirely dependent on the game quality itself? I've seen plenty of free to play games that are definitely worth money and vice versa .
Value is in the eye of the beholder.. not necessarily in the number after the dollar sign.
Only game I purchased at full price on launch in the last however many years. It was worth the hype.
nah thats only for rockstar or naughty dog titles
And BioWare titles
Still remember watching the show on TV when i was a kid. That theme song….
Monke King.
Monke approved.

Lol. Good time eh?
It's a single player game, give it 6-12 months and grab it for $20 on sale
$20 in 6 months? Don’t think so it’s not a Ubisoft or EA game
I'll wait 2-3 years till its free on epic games store. I don't get these souls like games and why people like these. I would need to be retired and you have to pay me to play these games.
Also don't get the "rewarding" argument. Its a game that you spend money on and then invested, too much time as well. All you have accomplished after beating one of those artificial wayyy to difficult enemies is a tiny JPG, at best. You don't get any money, you don't get any respect for it, nothing. When you progress through difficult bosses you get more skills and also get to create cool looking weapons and armoursets that introduces more build diversity and encourages trying out other movesets.
You also progress through the story and get more lore for the monsters you beat which is more than worth it in this game. It all comes together in the end.
I don't like games that have tick boxes and quests that come up when you complete something that took 3 seconds to do and has way points and you just mash 1 button. Sure it only takes 8 hours to finish that, those are the games i would wait to be free..
Too bad the game isn’t well optimised
I am playing on a 4yo mid spec PC (5600x + 5700XT) running 2k 60hz with mix of "High" and "Very High" graphics. Runs smooth, no input lag, only a handful of stutter in 30hrs. Game crashed once in 30hrs.
I seen people talk about microstutter and what not but I have not noticed it. At least I have have not had any optimisation issues that affect my experience playing the game.

It looks like a very hard game to play and beat in which I don't have the patience to persevere nowadays. Think I'll give it a miss and just watch some Youtube gameplays. Good post though.
