Thankyou - high school laptop sorted

  • Thank you! brought for my kids..

    • +8

Where did you bring it to?

      • +3

The kids? Guess they are separated.

      • I cancelled my ordered and ordered the G15…

        • Did the cancellation request get approved automatically?

  • +1

    sold out!

  • -3

    Surface Pro 9

Not sure if your serious or trolling

Doesnt come up in sold/completed listing on the search engine

      • -4

Only 128gb … fair enough. Dont feel like i missed out on much haha

        • +3

Bought a stumpy 256gb SSD for $18.26 shipped to upgrade it: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/204723871487

Surface Pro 9 SSD can be upgraded with one screw (big leap forward from the horrible glued shut old models).

          • -7

@xyron: But you do know the battery issues with all surface pro models. Good luck replacing when it happens after warranty expires.
I would invest in something easily self serviced.
Have a pile of surface pros at home with poor batteries

            • +6

@easternculture: I've had numerous Surface Pros from the first gen to the 6th gen, never had a battery issue with any of them, but if it makes you feel better for missing out, then I understand!

  • +1

Damn, that is a hell of a price for anyone who grabbed it!

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/126660898002 - 512GB version is still in stock for $60 more though.

    • -4

They are plaqued with problems though. Batteries dying after warranty ends is common and very hard to replace as you need to remove the screen

      • Yeah, it has always put me off the surfaces as I keep my laptops a long time. It's just ewaste waiting to happen.

      • Thanks guess I’ll save my money

        • Surface pros were a big hype when they were first released mainly due to responsive touch screen and resolution, now many competitors that have improved alot with their designs

          • +1

@easternculture: I just miss my old surface pro 3 tbh

            • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: I still have a pro 4 16gb 1TB with no battery (got swollen and pushed screen out), Surface laptop 2 16gb 1TB that refuses to charge (60 battery cycles), pro 5 16GB 1TB LTE that has only 10% battery capacity left. All the other ones i sold before they developed problems.
I now use the the faulty ones as wireless screens

              • +2

@easternculture: God damn, what a run.

              • +1

@easternculture: Yikes. I had a Pro 3 back in school and it started overheating when barely in use (nothing open, on the desktop) and ofc it drained the battery like crazy, 18 months in. Got it replaced under warranty. sold it a year later. Great form factor though.

            • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: Mine is still going strong

    • +1

512GB version is still in stock for $60 more though.

Worth the extra $60 just to avoid alcantara.

  • Have updated the listing with the 512gb model - not sure how to mark this as not out of stock

    • +1

Just need to report it for the mods (I've done so)

  • -7

Not a deal. Microsoft notebooks are bad.

    • +2

      Bad in what way?

I've been using my Surface laptop 3 for 5 years without issues and prior to that I used a Surface Pro 1 for 6 years

    • Like newer iPads, they are designed to be mainly manufacturer serviced so you either pay $$$ to repair after warranty or upgrade to newer model

    • +1

I use this for work, web developer, and its fine.

      • -4

The amount of ram can barely open many chrome tabs, a few spradsheets, pdfs, and words. Let alone having other resources intense apps on the side too.

        • If you wanna buy a tablet/laptop with soldered ram, make sure you get minimum 16GB

    • I’ve been using the Surface Laptop 16GB for 2 years for work, I usually have multiple chrome profiles open with multiple pages and rdm open with no lag.

      • The worry is after warranty period but i second these should only be sold with >= 16GB ram as its impossible to upgrade them

        • I bought my device second hand, it's well over 4 years old and going strong. Make sure to run a battery/device report when buying second hand laptops. I agree buy the 16GB version as Microsoft has made it impossible to upgrade them. I was bit sceptical before purchasing the Surface Laptop after hearing about the heating issues.. however, they've never overheated on me.

  • Missed it :-(

  • +1

    damn OOS so quick :(

  • The 256GB model came back in stock briefly (20), but I managed to snag the last one. More might come on again.

    • Someone must have cancelled their order.

  • +1

    Product Weight (kg) 14.5

If I get one, I can cancel my gym membership.

    • Weight (kg) 1.253

  • I actually cancelled my order after seeing that you need to tear down the whole thing to replace battery.

my thinkpad x1 battery died after 3 years, but can easily be replaced, i think the newer surface laptop actually is now serviceable since you can just replace battery in a few steps.

  • Has anyone's order been shipped yet?

    • +1

      Nope. Not feeling too confident

    • +1

No, mine hasn't been shipped either, and when I asked about it, I got told "it will be shipped in the coming days" (ominous!)

    • Hoping it's not xxled. mine had expected delivery for today (Thur) but hasnt been shipped yet.

      • +2

I just got a text saying it's being dispatched today

        • Still no update for me - I'll keep holding on for a few more days.

My Surface Pro (ordered from TGG on same day) was delivered on Tuesday morning!

        • Also received txt and email from tge. It's on its way. I ordered mine a few hours before it appeared on ozbargain.

    • Received today (Sydney) via Toll. Up until then no email or txt… actually received an email it had shipped after it arrived (lol).

  • Nothing from me. I bought a surface pro, and a galaxy tab s8+ …….

    • And you've received none of them? pretty rough!

  • Same here, still not sent after a week. Sent them a msg and the told me what the eBay estimated date was which is about to expire

  • "Due to the high volume of orders to our eBay clearance event, there is a slight delay in dispatch, and we appreciate your patience. Your item will be shipped to you as promptly as possible.

Please reach out if you have further questions."

  • Received mine today!
