TeleChoice [St Kilda, VIC] Closing down Sale - Nokia N9 & Xperia Play Both $100 + Heaps More!

790

Bit of an early morning bargain for you all! Was walking past today and noticed some big closing down signage. I managed to pickup a Nokia N9 for $100, quality phone for the price despite a dead OS (fingers crossed on a stable Android ROM).

I've done some preliminarily research into the Android development on these devices in my own interest that I though I'd share, please don't take it for gospel though!

Xperia Play - R800 - $100 - Fully functional GB ROMs and mostly functional ICS & JB ROMS. SOLD OUT
Xperia Arc - LT18i - $150 - Fully functional ICS ROMS and mostly functional JB ROMS. SOLD OUT
Dell Streak 7 - $80 - Fully functional HC and partially functional ICS (Broken 3g/radios). SOLD OUT
HTC Aria - $70 - Mostly working ICS SOLD OUT
Motorola Backflip - MB300 - $80 - GB ROMs avaiable
Optus My Tab / ZTE V9 - $70 - Fully functional CM7 SOLD OUT
Nokia Lumia 710 - $150 - Nokia Lumia 800 - $200 - Difference between the 710 and 800 SOLD OUT
Samsung Wave [Bada OS]- $50 - Partially working ICS & JB ROMs. SOLD OUT
Nokia N9 - $100 - Early ICS and JB ROMs. SOLD OUT
Nokia X7 - $150 SOLD OUT

All phones were coming with 12 months warranty, no exchanges or refunds and most were unlocked.

Many other older Nokia, Samsung and alike scattered through the store too! They had about 50 phones at clearance prices. I asked when they were closing for good and got told the 5th, hence the expiry date.

People are welcome to PM me if you'd like something mailed.

[EDIT - 2/12/2010]
Okay folks, we've OzBargained these guys. Only 2 staff and they are a bit run off their feet.

I've clarified some details with the manager:
* 2 phones per customer limit
* They won't hold sale items for anyone
* 12 month warranty will be handled by any other TeleChoice stores

They are apparently due more stock tomorrow. I'll attempt to update the OP as we go.

[EDIT - 3/12/2012]
Okay, checked out the stock this morning and all items I cherry picked in the OP are gone.
There still heaps of phones in the $10 - $50 in the likes of Alcatel, Nokia and Samsung. Little dual SIM, Nokia QWERTY keybaords and other 'grandmother phones'.
ALSO: 2 x Motorola Zoom 32GB Wifi/3G [MZ601] Tablets @ $200 (Missing mains chargers, about $15-$20 on eBay). These are unpriced in-store and were on a neglected back table. ;)
Also spoke with the manager again and "email says we're not getting any more stock". :(

[EDIT - 2PM 3/12/2012]
Okay, more stock arrived. Multiple N900, N8, & X3-01s. Plenty of little Nokia's and such. They certainly aren't running out of stock. 2 tables full. Still 2x Motorola Zooms without chargers.

    +1 for the research.
Your research overshadows the deals mate.

  • Question for experts: Are there any genuine bargains ?
And which one is the best one ?

I'm in Sydney though. Not sure if they will ship here

    • +1

      Are there any genuine bargains

All are good bargains but the $100 N9 is amazing.

  • I saw a video where one of the Nokia execs admitted there is a problem affecting some N9's. Nokia can't tell which ones and did not have a fix for the problem. Some sellers then reported the N9's have heaps of returns. Forum searches show that people love their N9's but were disappointed they had to keep returning them.

This was back in the day when the N9 had been out for about 6 months.

If these N9's are good, that's great. If they need returns, I don't know what you can do with a shop that's closing down.

I don't know what you can do with a shop that's closing down

Only one store is closing. They have stores all over Australia and they can't refuse a warranty claim

      • +3

Current Telechoice's contract with Optus will end next March and Optus refused to renew. Expect more Telechoice's stores to close down.

        • +1

sad. hope to pick up some in sydney later then.

  • I believe LT18i is Arc S, whilst the Arc is the LT15i
Not much between the two just one is an overclocked version of the other

  • +1

Please confirm are we talking about brand new sealed phones? Because brand new Nokia phones now come with 24 months warranty.

If they are brand new I'd love a Nokia n9.

  • +1

    • $200 for a Lumia 800 - crazy

      • +1

Crazy because its too lowe or high?

    • Thanks for the update, I was going to drive to St Kilda after work today but I needn't worry now :)

  • +2

Damn, managed to OzBargain myself on the Dell Streak, really wanted to head back for one. 3 in-store when I left at closing yesterday and none by 10am this morning. LOL!

    • +2

Thank you for unselfishly sharing the deal with us. +100 if I could.

  • +1

There are still few lumia 800. I just bought one.

  • +1

    No more N9

  • Please note there is no proper receipt with get. Just for people who are planning to claim back gst

    • What you mean? They should and must if requested. They would be registered for GST

      • I asked for one and they said they don't provide because they are closing down but told me that i can get one from another telechoice. But yes they gave one paper with mobile number and same reference.

        • Exactly. They also told me that we can ask at other telechoice for printed invoice by showing the receipt they are providing.

        • At the top you said the N9 was $100 but here it's showing $150. Which is it? Do they still have stock of the N9?

        • Look carefully. It is written: Nokia N9 w/BT H/S

It means: Nokia N9 ($100) with Bluetooth HeadSet ($50) for $150 total

        • Ta

        • Correct. I picked up the last N9 with a BH-111 bluetooth headset for $150. Seeings as it was the last and there were other N9s in stock for $100 I decided to simplify and say I paid $100 for the N9. Not designed to deceive but just using a K.I.S.S. method. ;) Hella good eyes spotting that though!

how can i buy, online ? pls sumone help

    • Not for this sale.

FYI, the staff said they were getting more stock for tomorrow for their other stores.
Also didn't notice any more Wave S8500 (the one that does 3G), compared to the Wave 723 (no 3G support), which was also priced at $50.
They also had a few LG A190 (dual sim, no 3G) for $20 (was posted here from Officeworks at $13, a month earlier)

    • +1

Wave S8500 updated on the OP. Thanks!

      • +1

You should make note that none of the accessories on the back wall are discounted, it was only the stuff scattered on the table.

I would debate their location as being St. Kilda. East of Chapel St. is Balaclava.

    • +3

This is a thread about mobile phone bargains, not land surveying.

    • Hate to point this out to you, but all stores on Chapel St south of Inkerman Street actually have St. Kilda as their postcode, so the OP has the store location as being correct in St. Kilda. The boundary between St. Kilda and Balaclava happens to be just slightly east to where you're thinking.

      • -2

I know, that's why I said I would debate it being St. Kilda. It's silly how a council could decide that a row of shops on the other side of Chapel St. is still in St. Kilda. (Sydney people are probably scratching their heads right now).

        • It would however make it easier for postal delivery to say all shops on Chapel St. belongs to one suburb rather than both.
I'm sure there are other suburbs which weird boundaries (Glenroy comes to mind).

        • Haha, speaking of Glenroy, I live somewhat close to Glenroy in Pascoe Vale past Boundary Road, yet a house a short stroll down my road is in Hadfield. I have no idea where the boundary between Pascoe Vale, Hadfield, and Glenroy is is (one would assume Boundary Road is a boundary but apparently not). That and Pascoe Vale South has the same post code as Pascoe Vale, so why is it even separate?

Other suburbs are confusing too (if I remember correctly, Coburg Cemetery is actually right on the Preston boundary). I used to live in Brunswick East (3057) but we always used the Brunswick postcode (3056) and never missed mail.

  • +1

I'm a bit confused about the terminology in the original post. Are these phones brand new in the box with all accessories? Or not?

    • Exactly, I asked that above and no one has answered

      • All the phone are brand new and sealed except few with open pack. Also sealed pack contains charger headphone etc….

        • +2

By the time you guys ask all the questions, the good deals will be gone.

Go down or pick up the phone and ring the store.

  • Are you guys going to see the phones or the ladies on the street?

    • Easier if the ladies on the street are in the store…

  • Reserved N9 and pickup this avo, cheers OP
There was a pink open box N9 in the back of the shop when i left, might be worth a call …

  • I don't suppose anyone knows what their trading hours are…? I can't seem to find them on the interweb…

  • Hi can anyone here help to pick one or two Nokia Lumia 800 and post to me? I'm SYD, thank you very much. I can pay you by Paypal or transfer the $ into your bank account, thanks~!

  • +1

I picked up one of the Motorola Zoom tablets (2 remaining in-store as per OP) and it had photos of a TeleChoice store geotaged here. I reckon they might get a little more stock if devices are coming interstate!

  • Just came back from a trip out there - no Lumia 800s (or 710s that I saw, and a little annoyed they couldn't just tell me that when I called), and I couldn't really see anything else of good value (although I was only really out for the Nokia so admittedly didn't pay too much attention)

  • just got back from the store , there is 1 xoom left along with some cheap phones. managed to grab the last arc s, the girl was nice enough to let me purchased 3 phones.

    • -1

      how much for Xoom?

  • so there's nothing left to waste a trip from northern suburb to St Kilda… ?

  • I was there it was a waste of time! Nothing worthwhile all the good stuff is gone :(

  • Yep. this is ozbargained. I heard few people talking about Ozbargain at shop yesterday when i picked up my Lumia 800.

  • OP updated with additional stock.

    • can you help to pick one or two Nokia Lumia 800 or N9 for me?

      • As per OP, both are out of stock.

  • OOps just called up and the guy told all N900 sold out already !! Is someone camping there 24X7 and clearing out stock for ebay sale ?

  • Hi OP :)

I tried to PM you earlier for a Samsung Wave, not sure if you received it. Are there any left?

    Thanks!

    • There were several Samsung S7230E Wave 723 left at 2pm today. These are different to the ones in the OP though.

  • +1

Picked up a couple of Nokia C6-01 yesterday at $50 each… Looked over her shoulder as she was marking boxes according to the price list, meant to be $50 for C6-00 and $100 for C6-01 but didn't make the distinction. Also saw a BB torch for $150, but i hate BlackBerries.

  • +1

I've been thinking about stock availability and N9 performance to decide to buy it.
Needless to say, 'Damn it, here OZBargainers are faster than the light'

After this lesson, I will react before my sanity check. :)

By the way, nice catch OP!

  • Was there 10 mins ago, there is no good phone left there was only one zoom left but without charger how would you know if its working as there is no warranty So didn't buy it.

  • has anyone got that xoom 32g 3g? i need 1 urgent can negociate please contact me, [email protected] very urgent
