I've been keeping an eye out for a decent Mini PC recently and this one looks like a pretty good deal.

Unknown brand (to me) so strongly recommend reimaging Windows before use.

Note: price of original deal updated. Still a reasonable price based on specs I believe.

Iris XE can really only do basic/low settings if even on newish titles. Not really intended to do any mid-gaming.

  • How would this go with running the Adobe CC suite of products and working with 4K video? TIA

Looks like a perfect low power Plex server. seems the Xe Graphics is similar/identical to UHD770 for transcoding around 8-10 4K transcodes.

thx OP needed a mini PC to run Proxmox - ordered P2 Mini Intel i7-12700H $559 delivery tomorrow with prime.

How does this fair compared to this $758 (includes $50 delivery) deal?
I know the price is different but this deal has a dedicated GPU as well.

    • Honestly depends what you're wanting it for really. IMO these are probably better value (in terms of dollars per computing performance).

This one is physically smaller, has more RAM, CPU benchmarks better (and some people specifically want Intel for Plex for example). The more expensive (P3) also has twice the SSD. However the other one has a dedicated GPU so if you're wanting to run anything moderately intensive games wise, you'd be better off with that.

i bought the p3, the fans are quite noisy even when idle, it reminds me of the dell xps 15 i had in 2018. does anyone else have noisy fans? i was switching from a hp z640 which is basically silent so not use to noisy system

    PSA

Bosgame P3 is best value minipc on market!

After a ridiculous amount of research and waiting time for a purchase price this small, I bought for $524.99 on Amazon AU on 16 June 2024.

Since I've been tracking Bosgame, it seems to go on real sale every 4 months, so I expect the price to be the same or lower mid October.

It was delivered in Australia the next day…not sure how they do it at this price.

Was that the 32GB DDR5/1TB NVMe version?

If so, that's an epic deal. I'm tempted to wait myself.

Edit: Do you find the fan of your P3 to be on the noisier side?

      • +1

Yes, 32gb DDR/1TB NVMe version. A cracking deal.

Noise is relative. Certainly not super loud, but very audabile on startup. Can hear the fan whirling for sure. After 1 - 2 minutes it seems to turn off for some reason and cannot hear it at all.

Please note - I play no games, only office applications (fairly intensive spreadsheets and 30+ browser windows).

This is apparently even cheaper directly with them on their website - though whether or not this is legitimate and will actually deliver to you, I couldn't tell you.

Was tossing up between the Bosgame P2, Bosgame P3 and a bunch of second hand Optiplexes. Ended up buying the P2 - thanks op!

    • I'd be keen to hear your impressions. I've been tossing up between a brand new mini PC like this and an optiplex refurb for a while, and still haven't decided.

Received the P2 and tested it for a few hours.

It's OK for the price. The chassis is plastic with a aluminium/metal cover for the air intake. Fan is generally quiet even running a lot of apps.

From a cybersecurity perspective, the P2 does not use OEM rootkit / Windows Platform Binary Table (WPBT) and I did a BitDefender scan on the BOSGAME image which appeared clean. I reimaged the device and installing drivers was generally OK except for audio - I had to follow this blog post to get the audio driver installed.

The wifi (WiFi 6) itself works well on my network and tested a few different scenarios/access points. This is good because some generic mini PCs, such as the MINISFORUM brand, have reviews that suggest they have wifi connectivity/dropout issues. Some people testing suggest it's caused by heatsink placement affecting the wifi card. The Bosgame doesn't seem to be affected by this issue.

Decided to return it because the product description states WiFi 6E, but it ships with an Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX201 card which is not Wi-Fi 6E. The box also states "WiFi 6, LAN 2.5" which doesn't match the Amazon listing. Most people probably wouldn't care about the discrepancy, but I'm using this PC in my homelab and want to test 6E connectivity with my newer network gear.

I could probably swap out the wifi card to Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX211 or AX411, but didn't want to mess around with the internals, especially when the Amazon listing says should be included.

        • the P2 does not use OEM rootkit / Windows Platform Binary Table (WPBT)

          How do you determine that?

  • I remember it was 400-ish two weeks ago.

This one is back on sale for $459

    • Seems to have lost 16GB RAM now 🤔
