Need a Cheap 5G Mobile Phone - Budget $300

Wife got a Pixel 9 Pro XL and it is randomly rebooting, so will need a replacement while that is off being assessed. Previous handset won't work with 3G shutoff.

I'm hoping for something <$300, as it is an emergency replacement handset, but unsure how long turnaround on warranty is. Also don't want a total lemon as I may hand it down to my 10yo son in the next year or so.

I was thinking Moto G84 or G54 potentially.

Samsung Galaxy A35 is just under $300, however if you're a new amaysim customer and not an existing you'll need to also add in a $30 minimum SIM plan.

It has 4 years of OS updates and 5 yrs of security updates and sports better cameras than G84.

    • I think this is the ticket. Thanks!

Telstra and Optus announced the 3G network shutdown will happen on 28 October 2024

Is your wife with Telstra/Optus? I would say you are safe to get the phone assessed, fixed, and delivered back to you before 28th October.

Where did you buy the phone from? JB will most likely just do a straight refund within 2 weeks of the purchase.

    • It was part of the JB Hi-Fi pre-order deal. Bought outright

I didn't know the 3G shutdown was delayed though, that's good news

This if you have a very old phone lying around

I chose the G54-it's a great Moto phone.
