  • Wireless camera means you don't have to run a cable all through the car to get to the GPS unit. Unfortunately you still need power, so you still need to hook into the cabling (as you can see from the wires in the picture). These units usually fit to the number plate mountings, so its not usually so bad as to drill holes in the bumper.

    • Any idea how it knows where you're in reverse? Hope its not gps based :P

You connect it to the reversing lights, when they get power, it gets power and starts transmitting. When the display senses there is a signal, it switches to the rear view, rather than the GPS.

When you take it out of reverse, it all stops again.

So if you are going between reverse and 1st as you try to manoeuvre into a spot, it will go on and off.

  • Stylus pen? wt??

  • Brilliant! Been looking for roof racks to go on the wife's Kluger. Sorted :-)

Reverse cameras usually take the place of your rear numberplate light just FYI (not the whole thing obviously, just a small section of it) and don't require drilling. Reverse sensors usually require holes to be drilled however.

  • Still not quite sure how the reserve camera works on the GPS.

Do you need to instal anything other than plug in the gps in the car?

I am sure it needs some kind of camera installed in the rear of the car.

      No, it works by magic.

  • Anyone know if a 'set' of axle stands means 2 or 4?

    • 2

    • They're usually sold in sets of 2 so I think it would be safe to assume that Aldi sells sets of 2 also.

  • hey guys any idea if these roof racks are any good ?

    • I am also wondering the same question.

  • Interested in the GPS because of the reversing camera function. Here is a link to the distributor of "Go Cruise" branded GPS units sold by Aldi: http://www.tempoaustralia.com.au/navtrack-products/gps .

But the website has not been updated to show the model Aldi will be selling. There is graphic promoting map updates with the words "coming soon" but no details about when or if it will be free. Other 5" units came with Sensis Mapping V.R18 or V.R18.2

The features list on the Aldi webpage says turn by turn guidance but nothing about spoken street names. Also, nothing to confirm whether it has a powered mount.

Nonetheless, the features list very informatively states that "GPS navigation" is a feature of this GPS unit. Go figure. Thankfully the unit has "Wireless connection to GPS" so no more messy cables running up to the satellites.
