  • Does anyone know if giftcards are eligible purchases?

    • It should be fine. CBA only knows you spend $100 but they don't know details about your spending. I purchased Apple gift card from Coles when they had the $5 Coles cashback promotion and it worked.

That is true if you are purchasing a gift card instore.

However, if you go to purchase a gift card from Myer’s dedicated gift card website, you will not be purchasing through www.myer.com.au. Myer’s dedicated gift card website and the regular Myer website use different payment gateways with different identifiers, so it would be easy for CommBank and Myer to tell that you were purchasing a gift card online (and therefore not pay out any cashback).

    • Can confirm that buying a Coles Myer gift card will work on the these kind of offers.

    • Why would you want to be an unsecured creditor to Myer?

      • The giftcards can be used at Coles and Coles Myer owned stores

      • They are probably talking about Coles Myer Gift Card, which is issued by Coles Group, can be purchased from Myer instore.

        • What's that got to do with the price of fish?

          • @TEER3X: JIMB0 seems to suggest it is undesirable to hold on to Myer gift card, due to the risk that business may go down.

Just pointing out that Coles Myer gift card is issued by Coles, to imply that the business is more solid and the risk is low.

I got targeted for this but $10 cashback is a little low for the minimum spend of $100 at Myer. Stingy CBA for the billions in profits they make each quarter.

I always buy Coles Myer GC from Myer when offers like this come up, so see it as 10% off groceries at Coles, stacked with whatever weekly specials that are going on.

        Thanks that’s a good tip.

With the billions in profits CBA makes every quarter, can they at least give 15%? Bearing in mind the deposits in banks are still guaranteed by the govt (ie. us taxpayers taking the risk) which means they can borrow at lower interest rates, leading to higher profits.
