One of Cruise's better movies. Emily Blunt was great in this. 4K, not sold in Australia.

Always nice to see this one posted. Good price, great disk đź‘Ś

I'm not sure why but I can easily rewatch this movie. Always do when it's on tv.

Emily Blunt is to me what Marisa Tomei is to George Costanza. Definitely can't let the wife know.

      You're short, stocky and bald?

Unemployed and lives with his parents?

        • Have you thought about giving her some stamps?

It's very watchable. I enjoy seeing Tom Cruise dying in various ways (and I like the guy lol). Ending nearly falls off a cliff, but its still decent overall.

It was one of the first 4K titles that I imported - close to double this price…… so this is a bargain.

  • region locked?

    • +9

4k Blu Rays are region free.

      • Oh nice. Didn’t know that đź’Ş

    • +7

Only Blurays are region locked, 4K discs are region free.
Saying that, UK has the same region (B) as Australia.

    • +3

Regional lock doesn’t apply on 4K bluray

Great film. I thought I was the only one who loves this movie but time and time again I see it posted on here.

  • +4

Yep great movie. Has some great supporting actors too.

the movie I use to test my subwoofers (initial few seconds have like sub 15hz bass that makes the whole house shake)

    • +3

Apparently it literally blew up some folks’ sound systems so they reduced it a little going from the bluray to the 4K lol

  • +5

    Bill Paxton rules in this.

  • +7

This is such a great movie. Rewatched this more than any other movie with exception of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy.

What the heck - I’m in!

Enjoyed the movie - ready to revisit. Thanks OP!

this isn't actually the "Ultimate Collector's Edition", but rather a standard version (it's still a 4K + regular Blu-ray combo pack).

    still a good deal though.

  • It's on Netflix. Anyone keen to watch it?

  • Can't see this price anymore, sold out?

  • Watched this 12 months ago and thought it looked okay but expected more on my OLED. I didn’t spot any HDR or WCG. I ejected the disc at the end and realised I had played the Blu-ray Disc by mistake. Duh.

Since it’s been a year I suppose it’s about time for a rewatch and this time I can evaluate the 4K.

    • 99% of UHD-BD will have HDR10 at the very least. Trying to find discs that come with native DV HDR, that’s much harder.

Also since UHD-BD discs first launched, I noticed that Dolby TrueHD Atmos 5.1 / 7.1 started disappearing from a lot of Blu-ray Discs, and the BD’s were being shipped with DTS-MA HD audio. Obviously some idiot at Dolby thinking hey, let’s reserve the best audio for UHD-BD discs. Alas it was already a popular format on BD.

This is why this physical media industry is partially killing itself. For one thing, if you take off the good soundtrack from a BD version, why would you bother to buy it? Extras discs are BDs and they still have high failure rates with BD-XL 100GB triple layer discs. Also we never got the 4:4:4 colour space we were promised. It’s still 4:2:0.

Considering that of physical media still being made, Disney stopped all DVD, BD and UHD-BD for Australia and NZ. I wanna know why just us?

People who would have spent money on those discs in AU & NZ have no choice but to import or more likely pirate those movies and recent Disney+ streaming shows (not that many were worth spending the money on)

I missed GOTG Vol 3 UHD-BD which is now import only.

The other thing I see is a few P2P groups create hybrid 1080p and 2160p remuxes with the audio from the UHD-BD (if you are still buying BDs) but they also rip the DV metadata from WEB releases and apply it to the 2160p REMUX so you get to see the movie in DV HDR. Or I hope they are taking legit DV HDR metadata and applying it to the 2160p remux. If there is no DV version available then I guess they have a Dolby DV HDR plugin which they run the movie through, which is really sad - either could be possible. I’ve watched some movies where the DV HDR doesn’t look quite right or is late to a scene change (a significant contrast change might be an entire second behind the picture)

I still fork over cash for Physical Media because I don’t want them to kill it off, we just have to get through streaming wars for say another year or two and we will see who has dropped out. Maybe it might be three years. Then again 50% of all Physical media being made is still a 30 year SD format - why DVDs are still popular? Price? People don’t care? I only bought 2 x DVDs in the past 20 years from when ABC ships were still open and when I asked why aren’t these available on BD? The person said, no idea, people rarely ask for BD versions. That was about the mid 2010s and I hadn’t bought a DVD since 2007 and also bet on Sony winning the HD format wars.

HBO Max preparing to launch in either 12 or 20 countries either late 2024 or early 2025. Problem is, no one can afford ANOTHER streaming service.

  • Honestly don't know what price I would consider buying Blu-rays, even with 4k. Maybe $10 each?

Superb movie. Can watch over and over again. Better than the marvel trite they keep churning out

Aiiiiiiii need to know now, can you love me again?

        And My Axe!

  • Movie was OK. But like most movies these days watch once and forget. Not really worth buying unless you are a collector

  • +1

I'd only seen this once years ago and absolutely loved it - watched it again yesterday thanks to this deal and enjoyed it just as much.

  • Anyone else receive the wrong film?!!

Unfortunately looks like the only option is to apply to return the wrong item, but doesn’t include replacement with the correct item… Seems you then have to order again but the bloody price is now back to normal…
