    • Hopefully it comes complete with ASIO secrets…

Best thing to do is request a full refund and contact the government agency for which this computer recycler had an obligation to cleanse and properly destroy confidential information.

  • +1

    @Calmago
    The login screen says:

    "Welcome to Parlament of Australia!
Enter your Parliament of Australia email.

This computer sysem is the property of the Commonwealth of Australia. It is to be used by authorised users only."

    • Lol huge security breach. I'd be reporting them to https://www.cyber.gov.au/

Seriously seems like a breach of appropriate computer disposal and recycling practises

    • Can you please contact the customer service team. Whilst there is no data on the machine it’s trying to still reconnect as the department has not unenroled the device correctly.

      • As a seller, this is unacceptable.
Yes, I have no other choice but to send it back.
The Azure server must still have the PC's MAC address recorded, and once it boots up with internet access, it was instantly locked to the login screen.

        • As a company that handles thounds of machines daily it’s extremely frustrating as it’s something we have zero control over.

    • Could be worth a bit of $$$ if you put it up on eBay. Data recovery experts will definitely be able to lift data from the drive because the fact it still has login details pointing to government servers means the drive hasn't been wiped properly.

      • That’s not how it works

        • You hope not for your sake and the security of our nation

  • I received my Dell OptiPlex 7050 SFF i5-6500 8GB RAM 256GB SSD Win 10 today.

The socket for the monitor requires a female plug unlike all my other PCs. I will search through my boxes of computer cables to find the right cable.

There is a socket for a PS2 mouse. Fortunately, I have a PS2 mouse from my old Pentium 11 PC.

After I get my Dell OptiPlex 7050 SFF i5-6500 8GB RAM 256GB SSD Win 10 to fire up, I will find out whether I need Albo;s login and password!

    • The socket you are referring to isn’t a VGA port. It’s the serial port.

  • Thanks for that.

My Dell OptiPlex 7050 SFF i5-6500 8GB RAM 256GB SSD Win 10 is a fascinating piece of hardware and software.

It has old technology like a socket for a PS2 mouse. New technology like USB 3.0 ports and an SSD.

There is also the remote possibility that Albo's private e-mails could be on the SSD!

  • My login screen does not say:

    "Welcome to Parliament of Australia.
Enter your Parliament of Australia email.

This computer system is the property of the Commonwealth of Australia. It is to be used by authorised users only."

Instead, it starts to load Windows 10 Pro.

There is no socket for a VGA monitor, so I connected it to my TV with a HDMI cable.

It only came with a power cable. There is no WiFi card. The package did not have Mini WiFi dongle, unlike my Dell OptiPlex 7040 which I bought from the same seller. I used an Aliexpress Mini WiFi dongle to connect to the internet instead.

After Windows 10 Pro was loaded, there was only 199 Gb of spare capacity on the SSD.

Like my Dell OptiPlex 7040 PC, there are no optical drives on my Dell OptiPlex 7050.

I am happy with my Dell OptiPlex 7050. It arrived quickly, it works and I do not need a Parliament House login to use it!

  • I picked up this today and also can’t login due to having the Australian Parliament login for windows screen.

Can I get a refund? What a waste of time…

  • @ Australian Computer Traders
Ebay had confirmed that when we return pc to you, you did not officially raised a ticket via ebay.
I see that you sent many pcs with government login screen to buyers.
