Pretty happy with an entry level YiHua 982 at about the same price from China. The c210 tips are really nice in comparison to this style.

Recently got a Pinecil, would end up costing more if you wanted all the tips (plus you'll need some sort of power supply) but it's a brilliant bit of kit, might be worth considering.

Agree. So much more convenient than these stations.

    • I have one that was treated with respect, used twice over a year and no longer works. Couldn't bring myself to throw more money away on another one.

  • The selection of soldering stations on Amazon AU does not look great to be honest.

Maybe get a Pinecil v2 (Not a v1 as those are only overpriced clones now), or a newer station that uses T12 tips instead. Maybe a KSGER, but you'd have to check the reviews to find one that's already been revised to actually… ground it… (I shit you not)

  • I bought a Goot soldering iron in 2006, it's still going strong after years and years of use

    • Very Goot!

    • Would Japan inports be 110V?

      • Doesn't matter for a heating elements :p

As a matter of fact, increasing the volts would produce more power, since the resistance is kept the same lol

        P = (V) squared / Resistance

Let's just say, the item in this listing is 40W at 110v, it'd do 80w if you plugged it into 220.

It might dissipate the element quicker.

If it was rated at 220v and you plugged it into 110v, it would reduce power from 80w to 40W, which is a safer bet.

In short, I will not recommend it. There's no where in the listening it says it can do both 110v and 220v, so it's a risk.

The manufacturer claims it does, so there's that. Could be regional variants though.

Not really worth the effort unless you really have a hankering for the well-known quality branding, since a decent temperature controlled set would be roughly the same cost shipped.

          • @Namidairo: There you go bro, that's what I said, it'd work lol

It wasn't on their Amazon listing but yes it says 220v 60Hz also works..

  • Huh it's showing 39.99 for me? 😅 that's the 60W

    • Same for me. But with $41.80 shipping..

      • Delivery mid October, that's too slow.

  • I thought nobody buys these remnants anymore. If you have it, alright. But if you are going to buy a new thing why not to go for something like SH72? Use any power adaptor of your old stuff, regulate power on the handle, it takes no space, use T12 or any other sort of consumables. After all, they are more reliable because consist of pretty much 2 components, and, therefore, they are cheaper.

  • What do people use for fume extraction?

      Nasal passage.

    • I hold my breath while soldering

    • Blow gently
