Whiskey Stones, 9 Pack - $5 Delivered (Using $10 off Voucher/Credit) @ Deals.com.au

942

I thought this might make for a good stocking stuffer/kris kringle gift for a guy. No idea about the quality, but they're just rocks, so I can't see much room for error there. The idea is that you pop them in the freezer, and use the cold rocks to keep your drinks cool without diluting them with water over time.

They are priced at $15, but you can get 2x $5 credit with the following steps:

1) Create a new account, type HOMEPOPUP in the promotion field during signup. This will net you $5 credit
2) Go to http://deals.com.au/offer , and supply the email address you used for the account. This will net you another $5 (this page is confusing - it refers to $10 credit but it is actually $5 for deals.com.au, and another $5 for mytable.com.au)

(credit to -.-/sharpeye for posting the credit information previously)

Then just apply the credit at checkout. There is no need to print out a voucher unlike a lot of their other deals. If you want to buy two sets, it would be more cost effective to just make another account and place another order for a single set for delivery to the same address at checkout.

You can use a disposable email address if you don't want to be spammed by their offers; dispostable.com or mailinator.com work well.

A quick google search yielded prices of about $10-15 for similar offers so I think this is a good deal, though for a marginally useful item.

time to open a paypal dispute? $5 is $5. think of the thousands of people ripped off here, they're getting a lot more than $5

  • Dear Johnny

We're so sorry that your Whisky Stones haven't been delivered yet, we agree, it's completely unacceptable.

They've been with Australia Post for some time now, and we the Christmas backlog has caused a serious delay, which we're incredibly sorry for. We had been assured they would arrive within the two week delivery period specified.

If you required the Whisky Stones as a Christmas gift, please let us know and we can provide a full refund for you. Otherwise, we're hoping they will arrive over the weekend (Australia Post is doing weekend deliveries to try to clear all stock in transit).

Please let us know how we can assist, and we're incredibly sorry for the terrible inconvenience suffered.

    Kind regards

    Jess

    • what's their email? I'm gonna see if i can come around and pick them up tomorrow.

      • +1

Their only email is "[email protected]", they never replied to my many emails so I put in a dispute with Paypal.

Was very tempted to drive to Milton and ask for my item today =P

Another in the yet to receive for Xmas boat. Also based in Brisbane.

My guess is that they are on selling from asia don't have actual stock of the product.

There is no way that a local delivery within Brisbane could be this delayed - they're shipping from china.

    • +1

Yeah, I asked if the retailer in question was shipping from overseas, Deals.com.au said they'd check. Guess the answer is yes.

      Going to raise a dispute…

  • Hi Johnny

We couldn't agree more! We've been speaking to the supplier and Australia Post several times a day demanding answers and are furious that they haven't been delivered (or properly put on the tracking system). They were meant to have arrived five days ago and we're at a loss as they have been with AusPost for a week now.

We can refund you as they're running late now, but the small hitch is they will probably arrive in the next few days - if that happens, would you rather send them back to us, or you could already arrange some other sort of payment (or we could hold off for a few days to make that decision)?

    Kind regards

    Jess

I'm probably gonna get a refund, cant be bothered dealing with this group…..

      I don't want excuses. I want RESULTS.

DEALS.COM.AU is a VERY poor excuse for an online store.

All the emails I get are just excuses. All empty AIR and EMPTY Promises.

They want to blame Australia Post - and thats all well and good, but guess what - That's their issue, NOT MINE. If they can't supply the goods promised in a reasonable time frame (I think over 3 weeks is reasonable) then they need to address their couriers.

My intention from this point onwards is very simple. I will go onto as many review sites as I can find and tell who ever wants to read my review exactly how BAD Deals.com.au are. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY … EVER.

Hmmm hope that was clear enough?

Merry Xmas to all (except my nephews who now dont have an Xmas Gift).

      • Hi Johnny

When they items arrive simply send them back to the supplier (unfortunetly you cant come to the office, everything has to be done in writing.) and once the supplier receives the item we will process your refund.

        Jess

        DEALS.com.au Support

Are they serious? They want me to send the item back to the supplier which will cost me more to send the damn thing……….@$@%!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        • Just request a refund. If they do attempt to deliver the whiskey stones, refuse delivery.

        • I have requested a refund but they keep insisting that I wait for the item to arrive and the send the item back via return to sender….. Seriously wtf

  • Gave it till Xmas eve and still not delivered. Opened a dispute with Paypal.

    • I'm guessing they won't arrive for some time… The vendor is Karno.com.au. They have a sign on their page saying they are closed from now till 11th January 2013.

  • Dad hasn't gotten any christmas present today thanks to deals.com.au! Not very happy!

  • This is clearly a company that doesn't care. Ban them from ozbargain! I put in a paypal dispute and this is what i got:

The seller responded to our request for shipment tracking information. We
still need to investigate and confirm this information, but we wanted to
share the seller's response with you:

    Tracking Company: Australia Post eParcel
    Tracking Number: 1234-1234-2134-1234

I hope they really did ship the whisky stones. I am going to keep them and keep my paypal refund.

    • Is that the actual tracking number they gave you??!

      • Yeah lol. So obviously they haven't sent them via tracking or even sent them at all. I would suggest everyone to put in a paypal claim and escalate it straight away. Don't waste your time with these jokers.

    • That just only makes it blatantly obvious the retailer in question is a scam.

      • Just escalated it and I have the exact same phony tracking number

  • Simply put return to sender on the envelop and then advise me that this has been returned by e-mailing - >[email protected]. Once the supplier receives the item we will process the refund.

    Kind Regards

    Jess

They offered a refund and then changed their tune. Won't issue it until after I return the goods. Not sure how I'm supposed to do that when they are not received and overdue.

Also be wary of them telling you to return-to-sender. This leaves you with no record of having sent it back which goes against you in a Paypal claim.

    Deals.com.au is absolute rubbish, avoid.

Edit: oh and they don't respond to email so not sure what that's supposed to achieve.

    • What did you reply to them with? I got the exact same response from them…….

      • I told them that's unacceptable as they are they ones who failed to deliver and are lacking in credit.

        Received Paypal refund today.

  • Just raise a dispute in Paypal… forget about trying to negotiate with them over email. I've been trying for a significant amount of time. -.-

    • I have been disputing with them via paypal, should I raise it further?

      • Escalate.

Here is a link we all need to follow and log a complaint

    Office of Fair Trading (Queensland)

    http://www.fairtrading.qld.gov.au/make-a-complaint.htm

As you see it's there role to deal with these pathetic 'wannabe online companies'

My complaint is completed and logged.

Deals.com.au has wasted all our time so lets waste theirs now in Government paperwork.

I'm still doing my Paypal complaint too.

    • Thanks, I've just filed my complaint with the Office of Fair Trading and escalated the claim. Also referenced this OzBargain page :)

  • Honestly, I'm willing to wait and see what I get.
I mean, I really want the whiskey stones.

But its very fair enough for your guys to demand refunds, something does seem not right.

  • Just opened a PayPal claim on these guys.
Luckily I had some Ice Cubes in the freezer for the Xmas celebration.

  • Had my 2 packs show up today in the post
Disappointed they weren't here for xmas but glad that I actually got them.

    • Same mine came today. They are pretty cool

    • great to hear, in that case I'll wait until next week to open a dispute.

    • Same, came today.

    • +1

Mine also got here today, not very impressive delivery time, I had forgotten I even ordered them.

    • Was it domestic post, or international?
If it was domestic… I wonder if they just cargo shipped in a whole bunch, then reposted them on?

  • Anyone had delivery to WA yet? (Still waiting)

    • I'm still waiting too.

    Received today(Brisbane, QLD)

    Received today in Adelaide.

  • Received today(Brisbane, QLD)

    • Same here. Free Whisky stones.

      • Free….?
Oh did you complain and get a refund?
        Score.

        • +1

Sure did. They didn't send them with tracking and when i emailed support they were rude jerks and offered fake tracking numbers. So it's in paypals hands what happens now. It will be a refund though.

  • Got 1? of 2 today. Glad they were only $5. Underwhelming.

  • Rocked up to work today and they were sitting on my desk! Wow i never thought i would see them.

  • I still haven't got these.. not sure if anybody else is in the same boat?

Have tried to claim a refund back through paypal but for whatever reason deals.com.au are delaying it despite telling me by email i would be able to get a refund due to it taking so long..

    • Escalate it to a claim.

  • Did so 4 days ago - presumably paypal are deciding what to do, all deals.com.au have done is provide the tracking number 1234-1234-2134-1234 which can't even be checked any where on the aus post website (or doesn't work)

    • lol cmon that's clearly a fake Tracking number. Tracking numbers are usually like 10 or less digits.
Your tracking number is 1234 1234 2134 (prob typed it to fast im sure they meant it to be 1234 again) 1234.

I'm in the same boat as you waiting for my paypal dispute to finish. I received my whisky stones but they have been jerks. I'm going to get a refund from paypal as well.

  • I get that its a fake number - pretty sure someone else has posted the same one in here earlier that they were given.. thought paypal would check the tracking number immediately and when it doesn't work issue a refund - but it seems to be dragging on for (no particular) reason..

  • Dear Johnny,

We completed our investigation for the following transaction:

    Case ID: PP-000-000-000-000
    Transaction Date: 30 Nov 2012
    Transaction Amount: -$5.00 AUD
    Seller's Email: [email protected]
    Seller's Name: Deals.com.au Pty Ltd

Unfortunately, we are refusing your claim because your purchase was for a
virtual, digital or intangible item, which is not covered under PayPal
Buyer Protection. We only cover claims involving physical items that can be
    shipped and tracked.

We encourage you to work directly with your seller to resolve the problem.
You'll find their contact information on the Transaction Details page.

Called up paypal and they said the reason why the outcome was not in my favor cause they said I had purchased a voucher and not the item. Told them the voucher was free and it brought the item down to $5. Spoke to lovely Caroline today and got my case re-opened today

    • yep, the dodgy 'voucher' system. i knew this could be a problem but purchased anyway. i eventually received mine, and yes, straight to the bin. they fractionally cool the whiskey by about 2 degrees, and then the room temperature brings it up again before you take the next sip after savouring the previous. they are complete rubbish, you can't swirl like you do with ice, and they are heavy.

let it go man, just let it go.

      • +3

Agreed. Whiskey stones don't do shit. I put all 9 in a glass and it barely even cools it down. I would like to find out where their warehouse is located and return the whisky stones through the window.

        • agreed.

          biggest crap ever

quite embarrassing sharing them with some people in our whiskey too
