You're equating price with quality, which may not necessarily be true in all cases.

Having said that, these would definitely be an improvement over my stock corolla speakers.

      • Oh yeah, for sure.

      • Bought these for the same, 2004 old boys coming out

        • +3

i mean if you own a 2004 Camry like half of this place then $20 speakers is about how much you should 'invest' into car audio lol

          • @tonyjzx: Does it fit in the 2014 camry as well?
            Legit question btw :D

            • @Amr911: Should. I bought for my 2015 camry. Although holes are for 6x9, there’s actually 6 inch in there with a 6x9 mount. I plan on cutting out the old one and screwing to the mount.

      • I don't know. I replaced my crappy hilux workmate speakers with these and it barely made a difference, wasn't worth it imo. Slightly better high range, but bass was definitely no better.

Watch Nerd has crossed his territory lol

      31 - 16000 Hz LOL

      • 31Hz LOL

That I agree with - most 6.5" speakers have virtually nothing below 60-70Hz…

Even ~ $1,000 for a pair of JL Audio C6-650CWs woofers only gets you 55Hz…

        https://www.jlaudio.com/products/c6-650cw-car-audio-speakers…

        • +1

Maybe put it in a community water tank level enclosure 😂

        • They are different speakers though. The JL is designed to provide midrange and bass. ONLY.

By design you need the subwoofer to complement and fill in the sub bass range.

The pioneers are an all in one, designed for cars that are not going to have a sub.

      Speakers are a semi-permanent modification

I could replace both in my car in the time it takes you to enjoy a reasonably satisfying shit. Yes, including trim removal and replacement.

Things aren't difficult because you don't know how to do them.

  • +2

I replaced my car speakers that had broken. The audio quality is perfectly fine out of these, very good for the price. But if you don't have a subwoofer, there's extremely little bass out of them.

    Great value regardless

    • +14

Contrary to popular belief, it's not all about the bass.

      • +1

        What about the treble?

        • +11

          No treble

    • +6

I think the default ones are 5W? lol

    • Yep don't even bother.

    • +8

Most people won't amplify them and will run them off the stock HU anyway

    • +10

Watts isn't a useful measurement on its own. I have superb speakers that sound loud with only a couple Watts of amplifier power. Because they have high sensitivity of 96db/watt.

      • +2

Agree, my best amplifier at home is 8 watts per channel, need to pair with >91db sensitivity and its brilliant. Its not all about size….girth is also important

    • Please tell the crowd the RMS rating of factory speakers.

  • Reviews look pretty terrible

    • relax moey

      • +5

How do you expect me to blast my fully sick tunes in my V8 turbo with these cuz???

    • +3

      4.3/5

      50 reviews

      Seems okay for twenty bucks.

      • +1

I just looked at the top 4 reviews there, but yeah at that price you can't really fault it too much

    • Reviews on EVERYTHING on the SCA website are awful

      • +1

They are called Super Cheap, not Super Good

  • I powered up my pioneers and let the music roar…

  • Anyone able to help tell me what speakers I would need for my 2014 Corolla Ascent Sport Hatchback? One of the front door speakers sounds like it's underwater and I have no idea what would be best to replace it.
Chatgpt suggested component speakers because I told it the car has tweeters, which confused it.
    Thanks

    • +3

If you want no brainer good quality just buy Focal 165TOY. Simple plug in for around $350.

      • Expensive but look worth it

        • +2

Yes but it saves so much time. You don't want to stuff around sometimes.

      • Thanks for this. Will do some homework around these later. Easy to fit for someone that’s never done this before or best to find a shop to do it?

      • all good - EXCEPT when connected to a stock HU that outputs 10-15 watts RMS MAX.
if going to connect to standard HU (with no additional amp) - then no point going all out on 1x pair of $350 speakers …
UNLESS OP is planning to do a build + buy in stages.

But those $20 speakers would certainly serve OP's requirements.

back in the day - I used to well be into the car audio scene (had a $10,000+ setup in a ford escort).
So I have a long history with car audio.

    • +4

I would recommend to remove the door lining and check yourself, it has to come off anyway if you're going to install new speakers. You might even be able to fit bigger ones with some simple modifications.

Don't forget to measure the depth with the window down.

    • +2

These speakers would fit, however for your front stage suggest a quality 6.5" component system.

You'll need a speaker adapter to put aftermarket 6.5" speakers in the doors:

      https://aerpro.com/aps334

    • If you're handy… Pop off the door panel… Make sure the wire and speaker is secure… Otherwise.. These pioneers probably fine.. As other member said you'll possibly need some the speaker housing bit… Which they should sell at sca or repco

    • -1

Keep the speaker, replace the car..

  • note if your car has tweeters you shouldn’t get these

    • +1

More like, if you have a car, don't get these 😂

    • Disregard and get if it's a good deal.
There's no law against having 4 or more tweeters. Hearing too much treble? Use your EQ / tone control to reduce it.

  • +16

holy cow they’re $20 speakers why is this place suddenly full of incels beating on everything?

    • When the would-be intelligentsia hit 40 and don't have the degree, the success, or the money, they turn to the ozbargain forums to pontificate.

  • +2

jaycar used to have some decent in-house speaker for cheap. That was over 10 years ago though.

  • -2

    Welcome to the 90’s

    • I knew CD's had been replaced but what's replaced speakers?

  • -3

Good option if your speakers are damaged or blown..

But probably worse then the stock speakers on a lot of cars.

    • Doubtful, stock speakers are horrendous. I bet most are still paper based like back in the day

      • +1

Paper based is better, you'd think it's not but it is.

It just wears out faster - it also depends on the car too, probably about equal to your base model corolla speakers but Audi, VW, Mercedes, BMW, etc will be better.

  • Cheers guys. Just got 2 sets

  • Whoops just bought 5 more

    • You need a subwoofer and got 5.1 sound

  • +1

Might as well upgrade for this price, I dont even care if they arnt that good lol

  • Pair these with a $50 second hand amp (50w x 4) and youll be laughing.

    • -2

      For use in car?

      • yep. for the car speakers!

  • 1 or 1 pair?

  • These are worth $20 and not retail. Most of the Pioneer range lack bass. I wouldn't put these in a car if you listen to music. only good for talk shows and classical music. Most post 2002 stock car stereo's put out between 15w-22w rms per channel, older stereo's generally go between 5w-10w rms.
