I've been thinking about joining belong before their double data offer ends on the 27/08/2024 and when i was stumbling around Coles this morning i noticed that they had the $35 starter kit at 1/2 price or 51.43% off if we are going to get technical. Appears in the Coles catalogue and is in store only so no link is available.

Before you activate make sure you get a referral code. Mod: Use referral system here for an additional $20 credit.

Might be better off getting the $45 for $22.
Activate on the $30 plan, use a referral code.
    $45 + 20 = $65
    $30 each month
    2 months +$5

I usually get officeworks to pricebeat

    • The double data doesnt apply to the $30 plan but other than that, sounds good.

  • Good idea to get officeworks to price beat. Remember to enter your referral code into ozb to see if you can get free mobile for at least a period of time.

    • Mines been in the pool for a long long time no luck

  • FYI - picked one up from Coles and the SIM number was reportedly "invalid", customer support said to return the SIM to the store. Coles was hesitant to refund. The date on the back of the SIM pack was 2021…which seems old. Got a $30 pack with no discount from Woolies with a 2024 date on the back and it worked perfectly. Be mindful of this, check the receipt from the store to ensure it activates (like a gift card). YMMV.

    • A similar thing happened to me. Ordered online from JB and was able to go through the activation process, got email confirmation that my sim was working but I had no service. Had to emergency run to officeworks to get another sim as I figured mine was busted and the new one worked fine. Checked the packaging on the initial sim and it was also from 2021. Really stressful as I had ported my phone number and was without any service for a few hours.

    • I had same issue - when buying the 2021 pack the receipt showed that it had not successfully activated.

Found a 2022 SIM though which activated successfully!

I suspect Coles has just been adding the new stock to the front of the hooks for years and not cycling the old stock to the front, that's how they ended up with an excess of old SIMs.

  • can these be activated on the data plans or are they mobile only?

Pretty sure you need to buy the right sim card for data plans (im not sure they are on sale). When i activated this i had to choose the $35 mobile plan it didnt give me an option.

      • Ok no problem. Are you now able to select a lesser plan now you have activated?

        • Yeh its month to month so you can swap and change as you please

          • @creesy: I just had a look at this. Defaults to $35 plan but you can click update and choose the $30 when setting up.

Tried to setup as a data sim and it accepted the number and defaulted to the $35 100gb plan. It seems possible to select the $15 20gb plan with the same update button. No referral bonus then though.

Any idea what is the cheapest mobile plan available after you have signed up? I've seen mention of $19 elsewhere but not sure as I haven't actually completed the setup.

So looks possible as data sim to get $15 20gb + $15 20gb, $5 credit remaining plus pay $10 for third month and that's $27 total (including $17 sim cost) or $9 per month for 20gb per month. Although it's cheaper to just use another $17 sim at $8.50 a month and forget the 5 bucks lol.

            • @tombosley: Ah, cool! That's nice to know. I'll be honest, I didn't really try too hard, as I intended to sign up for the $35 "plan" anyway.

            • @tombosley: $19 plans are now min $21

@0jay: Wow, it's only getting worse lol.

Used to be $10, then $15.

                Hmm

And here I was thinking of joining lol
