Got 1 a few weeks ago, does the job, needs a longer wand though, it's only 50cm, bit short for me at 186cm.

      needs a longer wand

      I feel this pain

      • +7

        She feels nothing

        • how do you know

        • +4

Like throwing a sausage down a hallway

          • @bboz: I see you watched Weeds

          • @bboz: this vision will haunt me for years

          • @bboz: I wish!

More like a tic tac in a volcano…

          • @bboz: Skin or skinless?

    • +2

Yeah, this is a frustrating thing. Longer wands seem to be restricted only to very expensive models.

      • +13

If you pay, they are not models

        • +1

yeah and too expensive to afford the model material anyway.

        • I’m dead

        • 🤣🤣🤣💯

        • XD

You can get a wand extension at Bunnings. Makes the work a lot easier..

      • I can imagine a DIY workshop at Bunnings on wand extension. would be too popular to get in even on a queen's birthday

  • +1

Can you leave e.g. eucalyptus oil in these and use it the next time? 😅

I've been through 2 of the Bunnings 1L (the one with better reviews). First time was vinegar for a couple weeks ate out the bottom rubber piece so it wouldn't build up pressure properly again.

Second bottle, I never used vinegar, just eucalyptus oil and water and leaving the whole top unit off and not submerged in any liquid betwen use, that same shitty rubber piece at the bottom of the pump disintegrated again within a few weeks..

    • +6

Maybe the lesson is to empty the contents into another bottle and clean the rubber pieces after use? There are reasons why you should never buy essential oils that come in plastic bottles. All oils really, because that’s what they do to plastic in general.

      • +1

I'm not doing that every day.. 😅

I was only using a max of 20ml (usually 10ml) essential oils to just under 2L of water to dilute pet stains for vacuuming, I never realised it'd be such an issue.. 😅 I also never seen or even realised people sell essential oils in plastic bottles.. I thought they always came in glass to help them keep longer.. 😅

        • Now need some essential oil deal

        • Bicarb, vinegar and bleach can all work individually and/or together similarly to what you are doing with essential oils if it’s to remove the smell and disinfect/kill bugs.

Aldi sells eucalyptus and tea tree essential oils in plastic bottles once in a while 😅

I have ruined a fancy stainless steel drink bottle (plastic cap 🫠) from a single drop of oregano oil, a very hard lesson to swallow. Granted, oregano is the strongest oil there ever is, but still… Never touched olive oil, honey and other food that comes in a plastic container ever since 😮

    • the bunnings 5L is far superior, ignore the low average (but high number of ratings) scores, the key to make these last long is do not pump too hard on the pressure

      • Hey, thanks for the tip!

I meant to say the 2L one from Bunnings. The Aqua Systems one, that had better reviews than another similarly sized and priced model.

I always pumped quite hard, but made sure to use up all the pressure or atleast depressurise it myself when I was done with that job. Next time I won't pump soo hard!

        • Yeah most of those bad reviews are from people over pumping. I would recommend having a wand version as well though.

    • +1

just curious, what was the eucalyptus oil for? ant repellent?

      • Nah, I was just diluting it with water to spray on pet spots to help rehydrate stains to wetvac up.. 😅

    • Don't use eucalyptus!
Everything ive put that in has broken it in some way shape or form

  • Good for herbicide solutions? Bunnings one get eaten by the chemicals

    • +1

Yeah I've been using the Yates zero weedkiller in it for over a year now, still works like new.

  • Would this be good to pressure clean bird poo off my balcony or not enough pressure?

    • Maybe if it was super fresh but no chance if it's caked on and been there for goodness knows how long.

    • the standard garden hose with a pressure nozzle would be 5x this

      • I can't run the hose from anywhere, doesn't fit on any of the water tabs in the house…

        • +2

Go to Bunnings and get an adapter for a house tap, they're like $8 and the valve for them is reversible so it surely fits one of your taps.

  • Good for cleaning windows ?

    • +1

No way - this is not a "pressure sprayer" in the sense of a Gerni/Karcher. It's essentially just for spraying weed killer on the lawn.

      • Cheers

      • +1

Could I use this $10 item to cut sheet metal instead of using a plasma cutter? /s

    • +1

I did this in an apartment before I got a hose - Yeah, you can, but it sucks. You can use it to rinse soap off for sure. A hose is better.

    • Yes it does! Buy two units. One with a strong detergent ratio mix, the other one a dash of detergent for lubrication. Spray the strong concentration first then rubadub with sponge then squeegee. Finally spray it with the other unit then squeegee to finish off. I use method to clean my solar panels when it's not overcast.

  • Would love to know if anyone has any experience with any pressure sprayers lasting. Despite cleaning & drying after use, using an "O" ring replacement kit with the Bunning's one, I've nearly always had to buy a new one the following year.
I've been tempted to try one of the battery ones, but with the initial high cost am worried they will not only have trouble with seals failing, but also trouble with batteries, pumps, electrical boards also failing! Would also like one with a decent nozzle & wand.
    Any insights from anyone?

      https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-18v-cordless-garden-sp…

This has been pretty good so far and can recommend. With the 5 year warranty not much to worry about.

      • +1

Also have one of those ozito units and it's been quite good, it drips a bit though so after letting go so careful if using weed killer

        • +1

Common issue with many wands both mechanical and biological.

    • Yes. I have the Silvan PRO 15L sprayer. I rinse it out 3 times each use though because using heavy duty chems for lawn.

    • +1

I just loosened every part that has a seal after using (takes 10 seconds). Re tighten before using. You can't leave them all tight.

Using a $9.99 sprayer from Mitre 10 maybe 15 years or so ago.

      • Yes my Hills pressure sprayers is more than 10 years now. Rinse after use. Fill with water then pressure up, flush the system by spraying. Drain everything, then store with main seal untighten.

For automotive brake cleaning fluids I use the 1L hand pumps they don't last very long.

  • good unit - recommended

  • Would these work as a foam cannon?

    • +1

Nah mate. Just get one from ebay or wait for a sale. You need a pressure Washer to get good foam.

    • -1

Yep, ideal for one of {these](https://myer-media.com.au/wcsstore/MyerCatalogAssetStore/ima…). Don't forget to wind the windows up first tho.

    • I tried one of these (Big W version) as a foam cannon before I bought a powered washer.

If you make a couple of holes in the pipe and stuff some sponge into the nozzle, it actually kinda sort of works. It isn't amazing, but is better than it really has any business being. I would recommend typing "foam cannon hand pump pressure washer" into YouTube for a look at how to do it and how well it works.

  • We used something similar to this to spray water on our herbs in Summer to stop the leaves drying out in the heat. We also use an old canvas awning as a shade cloth.

  • I’ve seen different models at Bunnings, I guess more expensive but some of them had the backpack component - is it worth spending more to get one of those ones instead of this one because not the end of the world but you have to carry it whilst spraying?

    • +1

This one has a shoulder strap, which is fine for a yard, if you need to spray a larger area then you'll want something more comfortable.

  • +1

Can I use this to mix the concentrated weed killer and spray with it instead, as a tall guy bending down hurting my back using those original 1L spray bottle

    • Yep - I did this just yesterday in combination with the Yates 1L 490g/L Zero Weed Killer Super Concentrate.

The only thing I wish I had done beforehand however was check the weather forecast - raining all week.

    • Yep, exact use I bought if for, but beware the short wand.

  • I never get sick of picking up online orders and having the person serving me say something along the lines of "oh another one? We've sold three in five minutes".
    The Ozb effect

  • So is this -$10.99?? Meaning they pay you?

  • Anyone tried to make a mix with liquid chlorine / bleach to kill mould outside?

    • Yes. They're as good as youll get. There are no metal parts on these. Ive had one for over 6 months. We have white pvc (polywood) furniture under trees. They get sap on them and need a weekly spray. Come back as good as new, so this is a pretty good test case.

Also fyi.. all plastic non-metal ones are hard to find… so this is definitely what your looking for.
