@twocsies: I actually feel for small businesses setting up websites these days. Everything has gone to drag and drop websites so businesses can get their name out there for a decent price, but it comes with all the security issues, like what's happened to their site. Unfortunately not a lot of small businesses have the thousands spare for a decent site and as such run the risk of their sites being ruined. That said, in this day and age if they don't have a website then they're basically invisible. It's a catch-22.

            • @MeatyOne: The issue comes from other small businesses ripping these small businesses off with shitty WordPress sites that aren't maintained and have security issues.
Wix or Squarespace won't give you any problems.

    • To also install more trust, maybe replace some of your American stock photos on the website with more of your actual Australian installs.

10 year warranty by a company in business for about 2 years. is that warranty backed by insurance?

I'm sure your work is great but just need to question the low price and the long labour warranty. We've seen solar companies come and go and the warranty becomes worthless.

    • +1

Hi, We understand your concerns! but we have been installing solar panels for over 10 years.
We went into business for ourselves for the exact reason and concerns you just brought up.
How do you expect any young aussie company to flourish?

      • +8

A good start for a "young aussie company to flourish" is to join OZB just to take advantage of free advertising.

25/30 years warranty. Excellent if they are not gone bust first.

So this is normal price. Any bargain?

  • +1

TW - is now the largest silicon maker in the world. Jinko, trina, risen, most of the tier 1 companies buy their cells from TW. I don't think they will be going out of business anytime soon.
This is an absolute bargain! We only have 145 of these panels left. Once gone, no more discount.
    Cheers

    • -2

That means you are going ro get rid off your old stock . Lol

      • +5

Even if true, a lot of companies sell off their old stock at a discount … ?

        • +3

          445 panels* one container.
Yes, we have new all black panels arriving soon, need to make space.

  • -1

I feel like this site has become ozsolar recently, shows panels must be coming down in price quickly

    • Almost time to buy.
      HODL.

    • +1

I think winter is a quiet period for solar companies, most people only want a quote when it's 40 degrees. Same reason why there's cashback incentives on aircons all winter.

  • Must have a Colorbond or tin roof.

    Oof

    • +1

      +250 for tiles

      • Curious, do you know why it costs more for tiles?

        • +1

Because they are a (profanity) bitch to install on. They break and mounting to a tile roof is an absolute (profanity) compared to colourbond.

        • Having a guess but labour. With tin they likely just screw through the sheets into existing battens vs with tiles you'll need to remove/pushback the tiles to fix/install the brackets for the rails the panels sit on.

Holy crap, it's the Spanish inquisition in here.

    • tough crowd huh

      • +2

Nobody expects… oh, maybe at OzBargain they do.

(Wrong level reply can’t bother changing it)

    • +12

It's ridiculous. Price seems decent enough, business has been around a couple years and has some decently sized clients if they're telling the truth about the surf club, etc. Meanwhile every second Amazon post selling Pepsi Max for 3cents off supermarket price and batteries for like $1 cheaper are front page material, and the hermits are commenting 'duh, time to stock up! Yay.' Like it is OzBargain, shouldn't there at least be some support for local businesses instead of ripping them down all the time? Or despite all the complaints about Old Man Gerry, is his the only local business allowed to be on the front page daily/every couple of days?

      • +1

        Thanks Meaty!

    • Was thinking the same thing. Starting a new business is hard, and while it is good to do some diligence, we need to recognise that not everyone gets everything perfect straight our of the gate.

    • It can be pretty critical with close scrutiny…. but look on the bright side… scrutiny and a pass is a great merit badge!

    • Just don't make any sudden moves and you'll make it out of here in one piece.

Take it with a grain of salt. Not everyone here has Autism.

  • I'm thinking of adding to my existing 2.5kw system, is this something that could be expanded or does it depend on the set up?

      Cheers

    • Would love to know how much for this also.

  • heya, do you guys remove old solar then re install? just doing a reno and need someone to remove my old solar then re install and possibly add some more panels when new roof is done?

    Hello kenny

      Hi Ram

  • Insufficient quantity for a post? 145 panels left in stock so only 4 systems available (as each uses 32 panels)?

    • 445 panels*

    • Would you like a quote?

      • All good, thanks. Just had a Sungrow inverter with Jinko panels (Hopergy mounts) installed with smart meter and HWT for $6,250.

        • Hello ShortyX, I'm interested in your setup (Sungrow inverter with Jinko panels), and it seems to be a good price. Could you please share the provider with me?

          • @swing4u: I'll direct message you. Are you able to enable messaging? (My Account - Settings - Messaging)

  • I am waiting to get the NSW $2k subsidy for a battery. Is is safe to get this now and the bsttery in November (when the subsidy becomes available)? Or will the battery installer have a big whinge about the existing wiring, compatibility, etc etc?

    • +1

      Hi dMZ,
we can install a hybrid inverter for you (for the difference in price between a string & hybrid inverter) this way the system is battery ready, all the installer will have to do is clip them on and configure.
The battery will need to be goodwe/BYD to be compatible or we can install a Sungrow/Fronius inverter to allow a wider range of batteries.

  • Our place is mostly shaded by trees in the Winter and we were told that it's probably not worth getting solar panels because of this. Yet, I was recently listening to a news podcast about people in Ireland (where it's always cloudy and raining), saving huge amounts on their electricity with rooftop solar panels there. Also, the panels used there apparently only have a 7% drop in efficiency after 30 years.
Are newer solar panels available here able to generate electricity from non-direct sunlight?

    • +2

[email protected] - drop us an email with your contact details.
we would need to conduct a shade analysis to determine whether it's worth the investment or not.
      Thanks

    • +2

You still need micro inverters on each panel. This will considerably jack up the price. Find out that would cost and then go from there there. We got a system in 2020 and best case scenario 7 years to pay itself off but in reality probably a bit longer. We're similar to you, winters with little sun, but also panels are facing north, east and west, which has a big impact compared to if they were all facing north.

    • I was recently listening to a news podcast

      There's your problem…

Are newer solar panels available here able to generate electricity from non-direct sunlight?

There's no magic here. Today is 100% overcast at my place and my panels are generating at 10% capacity. So technically it still works, just not very well.

  • In general, Is this a good deal for solar?

Any rebates for NSW or did I miss the boat

    • +1

This is too cheap and not sustainable long term unless running with extremely low overheads and fine margins, with no staff in Australia, hence this only being a short term sale.
      Cheers

  • how much more to include a smart meter for three phase?

    • Goodwe 3p meter is 230 + 150 for labour = $380

  • +1

Is this price after STC rebates?

    • +1

Hi, yes this is after rebate.
      Thanks

      • Thanks for the prompt reply, another question doesn’t 30 pannels required for 13.2k why you are installing 32?

        • 30 is the correct amount.
          30 x 440w panels = 13.2kw
          Cheers

  • Newbie question, why does one need 3phase over 1phase? Do home owners get a choice in the matter, e.g it depends whats coming in from the street?

    • +1

      Hi Krim,
Yes the power is usually pre determined by the energy network provider (endevour, ausgrid, essential).

Single-phase power is like a single-lane road, enough for regular traffic like cars and small trucks in most homes. Three-phase power is like a three-lane highway, designed to handle heavier traffic like large trucks and buses, making it ideal for bigger homes or businesses with high power needs. In solar systems, three-phase is like having more lanes on the highway, allowing electricity to flow more efficiently and handle higher demand.

      Cheers

      • Thanks for the info.

    • 3 phase is higher voltage, to make use of it you need to have 3 phase components installed throughout the home (switchboard etc).

It used to be that only businesses would install 3 phase power as it's required for commercial equipment such as commercial fridges, air conditioners.

Residential homes now install 3 phase power primarily to enable installing a 3 phase EV charger. It also gives you access to 3 phase induction hotplates, which heat up so fast they outperform gas.

      • +1

Pretty incorrect info there mate. 3 phase is 3x240v active phases 120 degrees “apart”/out of synch with each other. The peak-low of line-line is about 415v, but they are actually all 240v lines, it’s not “higher voltage” the line-neutral voltage is still 240v.

Many homes have 3 phase and they have the load of the house split over different phases. Many also have 3p pool gear, air conditioners etc.

  • How much for a 10kw system?

  • House is about 400 mtrs from switch board. 3 wires I think 1 is for off peak tariff. Is it still possible to feed back to grid? If not can the solar power still be used directly at the house?

    • Hi Maurice,
I'm not sure a standard set up will work. Too much voltage loss. Off-grid possible.

  • Late July, I got 13.2Kw 30x Jinko N type 440w panels with GoodWe 10Kw inverter installed for ~8800$ [Paying 145$ per month for next 5 years] after central govt rebate, without any state rebate. Double story, 3 phase. 10 year workmanship warranty.
Comparing with this, current post feels like a good deal.

    • Hi Lucky,
Your deal was still good value! This is just a promotion. We can't survive giving them away at this price :)
      Cheers

  • What’s your opinion about micro-inverters?

    • While enphase & solar edge are great for monitoring. If you don't have shading issues or a roof with many different aspects. Complete waste of money IMO.

A 10kw enphase system, is going to perform no different to a 10kw string inverter in direct light.

      💰 🔥

      Cheers

  • Hi Kenny, would you be interested in a drive to lovely Canberra for an install?

    • Hi Dan, yes we install in Canberra.
One of our directors is from the Woden area.
The prices aren't the same there however. More than happy to provide a competitive quote for you though!
Reach out via our website or send an email to [email protected]

      • FYI, in the ACT we have access to the government SHS loan.
Completely interest free loan up to 10 years backed by the government. However unimproved land value needs to be less than 450k (most suburbs outside of inner suburbs - majority of tuggeranong/belco qualify - deakin, garran, oconnor etc - no)
        Cheers
