    • you don't need to let old one know
Electricity account is automatically overtaken by the new provider cancelling the old provider

Currently on momentum energy burning up their $200 credit. Any issue with churning multiple times to keep these sign up bonuses?

    • Engine don't like churners.

  • Rates are too high in Victoria to stay with them for more than a month including sign up bonus.

  • I get 12 cent solar feed in tarriff with Engie but between 5 and 9 pm their rates are like 60 cents a kilowatt so just make sure the lap top is charged and tea prepped before 5pm etc. Works well for me and they let you have a larg solar system up to 10kw unlimited feed in etc most with higher feed in tarrifs have conditions with daily limits ie 20kw etc!

    • @Dirk36 I’m with engie , do all the plans have unlimited feed in, I cant find the information around max feed in?

      • Wattever.com.au is a great site for feed in tarriff info see Engie have dropped to 10c a kilowatt though on thi site happy as i am still getting 12 cents

    • How about that, behavioural changes to manipulate power usage. Fairly impossible if you work grind hours and need to cook, clean, wash in the time you get home. Candle light dinners for the future.

      • Sad reality is we have to change our ways due to our standard of living decreasing food for thought is it because things are getting more expensive or because as a nation we are becoming poorer? Either way if things go up either way we become poorer!

        • It's because this government is asleep at the wheel and doesn't give a shit about anything other than staying in power, while allowing the energy companies want to make as much money off us as they can.

A better solution to address load demand would have been a higher rate above a certain threshold at peak times. That would disincentivise running aircon on full during peak hours without punishing everyone else who just wants to use their basic appliances. There should be a much lower ceiling for shoulder and off-peak usage too.

As it is now, energy distributors and retailers price gauge during peak hours and charge the standard all day rates for off-peak and shoulder hours.

    • Solar incentive is nice, however a few dark cloudy days and it will negate the benefit. I'm switching from ENGIE to a more honest retailer. Welcome credit for me was definitely not worth the hassle. ENGIE is the worst company I have ever dealt with in my life.

  • Interestingly, the Cashrewards bonus for this particular deal requires you to click through Cashrewards own energy comparison site.

  • This offer only shows $100 for me in NSW, not $200:

    Once Off First Bill $100
Your offer includes a one-off welcome credit of $100 on your first electricity bill, provided you have not received a welcome credit from us in the past 12 months. This credit includes GST and is not redeemable for cash.

    • Just checked. Still $200 + $200 for me. Maybe they have different rates depending on postcode? Weird

  • Does any unusued credit rollover to a second bill if not fully used in first bill?

    • Yes

  • The company ENGIE is a nightmare. It's a French company with no real presence in oz. The $200 credit is honestly not worth it. They hike the rates after your first 30 days, about $2.18 daily supply and 41c/kw. Then overcharged me on my bill. The only way to contact (and get a reply) is to call where you will be connected to a script reader in Bangladesh or the Phillipines. 9/10 they will either not comprehend why you are calling or they don't have the clearance or capacity to help. You will then need to file a complaint with the Ombudsman, which ENGIE won't reply to. Look up ENGIE on Google Maps and see the reviews. I have never seen a business with 900 reviews, all of them 1 star. Save yourself the hassle.

  • VIC seems to be 200 + 200 for powercor area?

  • Strangely the website shows $200 + $200 in Vic but the terms and conditions say your $100 bill credit. So not sure if I would get $100 or $200 per account. Their chat never replied to me when I tried asking.

  • does their SOLAR FiT not have a cap? others usually have a cap of 10kwh per day

  • It says one off credit on your first bill: does the credit roll over to next month if not used fully?

    • yes

  • I'm confused between Engie Saver and Engie Perks plans.

The differences on the comparison page are:
    - Perks has myNRMA rewards included
    - Perks is $1 cheaper per month than Saver per Gas and Electricity

But everything else appears the same. Why the heck would I pick Saver?

  • Thanks again, OP. We just got our first bill from Engie and it read as follows:

    Total amount payable: $0.00
    Account Balance: -$141.78

Once Off First Bill $200 ( Per Bill ) -$181.82 Cr
Australian Government Energy Bill Relief $75.00 Cr
Credit for Service Outage $100.00 Cr

I wasn't even aware we had a service outage.

We have already withdrawn the $70 cashback from Cashrewards too.
