  • Looks good and usually $559.00 so not bad at all.

  • +3

This would have to be the thickest bezels ive seen for such a modern-ish gen laptop

    • +1

Looks like it could totally fit a 14" in there. It looks big but only ~1kg though.

    • We like em thick

  • Battery cycle count or life

    • +2

Not sure when the 10 different cheap laptop posters will get the message about battery health. Might save us all some typing.

      • -2

Not sure when people are going to start actually looking at the link provided which contains the information they're after. Might save you some typing

        • +5

I dont think it's too onerous a burden to ask the person who is getting free advertising to provide some basic details they get asked in just about every single deal.

          • -1

@Nalar: I don't think it's too onerous a burden to ask the person who is interested in a product to click a link that provides the complete details for the product they're interested in. I mean it's all literally right there, if you're a grown up you shouldn't need to be spoon-fed the information. I don't even care about the deal that much and saw it all pretty quickly.

            • +3

@dav3: Well, OP had now told us, so anyone joining late will be informed that A = above 70%.

I thought most places were above 80% for A grade.

              • +1

@Nalar: 80% is generally classed as 'end of life', below that they drop off fast…

                70% = stuffed

      • It's probably not practical for every seller to go through every single laptop to note down the cycle count. They can vary quite a bit so if they said 100 and a few people got one with 300, they'd be accused of lying.

        • +1

They claim it's "Fully tested" so yeah maybe they could note the cycles. Unless of course it's just BS and it's a wipe of the HDD and a wipe of the cloth.

“Include Laptop and 65W Lenovo Type-C power adapter. Fully tested in excellent working condition. Free postage with 3 months warranty.”

          • @Nalar: Imagine you just got a consignment of 300 laptops.

Someone asks you how many cycles the battery has done. How would you answer? How do you know which laptop the person asking will end up with?

If everyone used their laptop the same way every day, the cycle counts would be about the same. But what if you end up with the laptop that was used more?

            • @eug: Well, OP answered, so I guess it's doable.

              Sadly there's a big gap between 70% and 80%.

              • @Nalar: OP didn't give the cycle count, just a "above x%" figure. If that's all that's needed, perfect!

    • +2

Battery health is 70% or above

  • +2

    @MaxDirect
    lower please? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/840881
    less ram but better processor

    • Those were pretty rough condition.

    • That's a B grade device so condition will be worse

      • -1

        scroll down :Condition A Grade"

        • -1

The one CyberMurning linked to is B grade

          • @dav3: when you click buy don't look for B grade - simple

    • You can get that Portege X30W-J for cheaper on eBay / RebootIT. 989g making it probably a nicer travel computer, but no pointing stick unlike the X30-G.

      • +2

Nice one, but I see Memory is no upgradable.

  • Looking to pull the trigger on a Uni laptop since I've waited probably a bit too long now to get one, don't want to spend more than $500. What the verdict on this OzB friends? Is this the one?

    • I wouldn’t say it’s the one, in my opinion the specs are imbalanced. 16gb RAM and 512gb SSD would have been the sweet spot. I would also have liked at least 80% battery health guarantee, not 70%. For the price though, you can’t complain too much. It’s decent.

    • How long do you have left at Uni? If you started this year I reckon this should be fine. Agree with @jpeg-jpg the ram is over the top and more storage would be great but there doesn’t appear to be much that’s decent (A grade) within your budget. If you’re closer to the end, maybe try and find something like the Lenovo T490s (or T14s). The T490s should be available for a fair bit less but is slightly older (8th gen i5/i7).

    • I know this is more than $500 but this Costco deal is back but at lower price of $679, great value for a new Ryzen 5 7530U/16GB/512GB/1.4kg.

  • They are good price, please review your requirements for the laptop to ensure it meets your needs. Thank you!

    • Do these not have HDMI?

      • +1

photos says has.. but dont know

      • +1

        Yes, has HDMI port.

  • what is the actual processor speed if any used this before
    1.8ghz boosted ?

    • @1.8Ghz Max Turbo Frequency 4.90 GHz

  • +1

I don't think they check these laptops before sending.First one I got(Dell Latitude 5400) stopped working within 2 months, sent it back and the second one I received showing problems, but now out of warranty.Better to buy new if you can afford or from the proper refurbished one from Amazon.Atleast they give 12 months warranty.

  • I ordered one, sitting with two 32gb SO-dimms. This is at least one of the latter laptops that's portable that can be upgraded.

  • I would have expected Intel Iris instead of Intel UHD with the 10th gen processor.

    • It's a U series, they're generally cut-down low-power CPUs

      • This has nothing to do with GPU.

  • Is the ram/SSD upgradable?

    • +2

Yes, Ram and SSD are upgradable.

  • +1

Got mine, lovely unit, light and responsive. Battery seems to be 6-8 hours which is enough for my use case
