Couldn’t help myself - just booked for May next year, Brisbane to Tokyo direct (9 hrs).

2 adults + 2 kids, added check luggage for 1 adult (we will make it work with each getting carry on allowance), added choice of seats, added entertainment, added some food on each leg.

Came out at bang on $1700, or $425 each return.

    • Well done. Enjoy your trip!

    • Haha i remember doing Jetstar a few years ago….. and instead of getting crappy airline food, i purchased some awesome bento boxes for around 1000yen and ate it in the airplane.

Oh I wish these aligned with January! I want another cheap Japan ski holiday

I can see flights during cherry blossoms for less then $500. which is great deal.
For anyone interested cherry blossoms - Last week of March to about 3rd week of April would be time to see - at least that is the best guess - depending what part of japan you want to go.
Kyoto is my favorite city. Direct train ride from Osaka airport.

    • Cheers for the heads up…we are planning to go to Japan around that period

    • This'll be my first time, please post if you have any good travel blogs/guides /recommendations :)

Few random things I can think right now:

Videos from this channel quiet good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3eFlvYlmtgA

Bullet train is worth the ride. JR regional pass can be good value for money & transport between 2 cities.

Universal studio osaka can be expensive. Book in advance, do you research on what you like inside and all. You can book time slot for certain rides. Evening parades are worth it.

Some/all parks are closed on mondays.

You can do day trip from Osaka to Hiroshima in bullet train. see the memorial if interested.

Food will not disappoint you regardless of the city. Most places accepted the cards except small vendors.

I use public transport only, it can overwhelming, go by the station numbers. Be prepared for the walk. Google map will tell which exit to take from station.

        Hope this helps.

        • Thanks, appreciate it!

  • So I need to sign up for Club Jetstar for the price to go through properly it seems. It still says $0 on return flight but adds the normal price still?

  • The conversion aud to yen has dropped significantly, almost 20c in about as many days. Anyone know why? Also thoughts on it going back up?

    • -1

JPN stock market has crashed. Don't buy your Yen just yet.

      • wouldn't that be good though? I don't get it

    • +4

Japan raised interest rates which made the yen more valuable.

  • -1

I've got flights already booked for those dates, but they won't refund/credit the difference in fares… Is that normal?

    • I would keep complaining until it happens

    • +1

They won't refund the difference and its acceptable as the same tickets are sold at different prices over time. Sometimes you win sometimes you dont on the prices but you definetely are a winner that you are going to a great place for holiday.

Thanks OP, booked SYD -> KIX direct for $600 each including extras. Had previously been looking at paying twice that for ANA/Qantas.

    Excited for the trip!

  • Can anyone suggest if its worth getting these tickets if I live in Perth?

June 2025 Kings birthday long weekend ozb meetup in Osaka!

  • Gee the flight times are rubbish when flying from Melbourne.
I've flown Jetstar from Brisbane to Narita previously on the Dreamliner, it was honestly great.
Took a few ham sandwiches and a half price packet of twisties washed down with free glasses of water- happy days!

  • +1

If transiting through Cairns keep in mind it is a domestic flight and they do NOT pass your baggage through. I'd rather spend more on a direct flight.

Is it just me or has the jetstar website shit itself? It wont load flight times and keeps giving me an error.

    • I've been trying to load fares for nearly an hour and it keeps timing out.

  • Thanks OP, booked BNE-KIX in May for aprox 700 ea return, full flex and extras. (Direct)

  • Thanks OP.

Booked during easter break / Anzac period for $800 return!

Why I can't see any free return flights to Brisbane…. Any date suggestion please?

  • +1

Wasn't worth it for my dates, Jetstar for $1200+ without any of the additional stuff, rubbish. Went with JAL and Qantas for $1500 instead

  • Booked Adelaide <==> Osaka 30/4-10/5 for 2 people (inc 20kg checked in) for $1099 return.
    Thats $550pp … $275pp each way! :)

  • I'm not seeing any $0 return flights anywhere in the June flights despite the website saying they're available. Am I missing something?

    • +1

They were available two days ago, nothing now, probably they had a limited $0 slots.
You need to get in early to catch them.

    • Yep they are all sold out now

  • Used to be able to book ski holidays on this deal, but now they exclude all of January :(
