not buying a Tesla is always a better deal compared to buying one..

          Lol.

What a mentality, does this make us rich? Or just stick to Camry Shabaka?

          • @Fredfloresjr: It's exactly that mentality that makes people rich… they've just saved $60k after all.

            • -2

@Charleston: Same mentality for those lazy BASTARDS that sending their kids at Public school. "We've just saved".

            • +1

@Charleston: Why did you buy this Dyson yourself for $319? You should've saved it and suck the dirt manually. Remember rich Mentality

              • @Fredfloresjr: totally not weird people keep looking at my post history in this thread to bring up I bought a vacuum.

it's true, I have floors that need cleaning… but the funniest bit is I didn't actually buy that vacuum - i still have an old V6 thats holding together and really do need to replace it though.

i found that deal because i wanted to replace it, but ended up deciding it wasn't a priority as the old one was still working.

it's also the case that i'm not rich, and have made many many poor financial decisions in my life and have the ability of hindsight that maybe if i hadn't i'd be in a better financial position now.

          • @Fredfloresjr: will buying a Tesla make you feel rich? won't work for me. I'll stick to BMW

        • Well it's all relative. I'd argue buying a Tesla is a better deal than walking 20-50 km a day.

    • +1

Isn’t everything on OzBargain technically an advert?

  • That's awful. Imagine paying 1.99% to find the purchase price has dropped 20k in 12-18 months from now. If you haven't seen the frequent price drops, the second hand Tesla marker in disarray, Walmart carpark after Walmart carpark leased for vehicles they can't move and a whole lot of recent bad press, then you haven't been paying attention. If you really want a Tesla, get one in a few years when the dust settles and you are getting true bang for buck. In a word, HODL!

Why do Tesla posts rustle people's jimmies so bad?

    • +3

Because of Elmo and politics. I.e. People with a social conscience and those who don't care.

    • +1

Because Telsa gives billions to Elon Musk who then uses it to support a wannabe dictator and spread hate speech? Just a guess.

Oh but also going the other way, indoctrinated idiots have been conditions to "EV = bad" and must serve their masters by screeching about "parking lots full of unsold Teslas" when they see any EV/Tesla related post.

    • -3

Because Elon refused to support the Democrats, I mean the Demented guy. Now few people are hurt and taking it personally.

      • +2

Genius is supporting the person who wants to crush the EV market then wonders why his share price is impacted.

  • Damn, if only would offer 1.99% for home loans again :(

  • OMG i almost waited for new model Y… its tempting

  • +1

for anyone considering novated lease, make sure to watch this video on CarExperts channel host Paul talking about his novated lease experience with the recent price reductions.

    • +1

Definitely no conflicts of interest there.
John operates on commission and his mate runs a novated leasing company
One a respected engineer and journalist, now he's just anti-Tesla, but no correlation he can't earn commission on the sale of a Tesla.

  • +2

Sorry, I won’t fund Elon’s antics, the bloke is demented

    • +1

Reasonable view, not excusing anything but all CEO's are likely demented, they are just not transparent.
One thing you can't accuse Elon of being is not ethical, he's 200% committed to the welfare of this planet.

      • -1

@UltimateAI Elon backs both Trump and Putin, two leaders who’d sacrifice the planet and everyone on it for their ego. He’s sided with, and is actively funding, the climate-denial American right, the very people who ridicule renewables and electric vehicles, driving a wedge between his business and potential customers (like me). And he supports Russian fascism over Ukrainian freedom & democracy. He’s not like your typical ceo

        • +5

This is a complicated one, he couldn't support Biden after what Biden administration has done, so backed into a corner. US is a strange system, you are expected to announce your endorsement of a party. And no he did not donate to Trump that is another lie.
No he does not back Putin, that is yet another lie. That claim was because he refused to allow Starlink to be used to bomb Russia.
NASA and US military support him, they know his dealings with Russia are NOT against the US interest.

    • +1

I agree that Elon is a loose canon and I really wouldn't want to give him money due to his behaviour and political views. So many other vehicle choices out there.

But… at least he's open about his beliefs. I don't know what the CEO of Mazda, Toyota, or Hyundai really thinks. Maybe they're all a little bit psycho.

      • Elon is actively on Twitter/X recruiting his many followers to back his toxic worldview

  • For laughs, make sure to check out r/cyberstuck… Get rid of Elon and maybe I'll consider a Tesla

  • +2

    pump and dump car.

    • -1

Wouldn't it be the opposite, probably only consider an EV if you would keep it for 6-8 years.
With any emerging technology, have the risk of re-sale price reduction. Although Mazda don't seem to be able to sell their cars at the moment.
Currently looking at the CX-5, price is attractive, but in 4 years I can't see that having any re-sale value. Far too thirst and old in-side.

  • +1

Great car, picked up the performance model less than a month ago, the experience has been great.

  • -1

    Fees are killing it.

    • Compared to? From a finance perspective and considering the cost of money, the rate and FEES seem quite attractive.
For most though a NL will look better on paper, I just always have bad experiences with leasing companies. Always fighting against additional fees\charges.

  • -1

Imagine choosing to buy a car on finance… Jesus Christ, no wonder so many young people are suffering financial problems. Unwilling to endure owning a 2nd hand car. Ohhh the indignity!

    • +2

If you were already going to buy a Tesla with cash, you would be silly to not take up this offer.

Obviously buying a car on finance that you can't afford is top tier stupid.

    • Actually I am somewhat aged, drive a ~15 yo Mazda (owned since new). When I consider the cost of money, these rates (including fees) are almost as competitive as a novated lease. Both much better options than purchasing a car outright, even than drawing down on an investment loan.

So horses for courses, ultimately I am a cheapskate and likely won't be purchasing it until my Mazda dies.

  • +6

Got a Model 3 recently, very happy. Amazing car.

    • hell of a fun car to drive.

  • Tesla’s strong base of Californians and Democrats are abandoning Tesla now after Elon’s highly visible support for Trump and his row with his own trans daughter Victoria. People there are now considering other EVs competitors like Rivian. Iykyk.

    • I've love a Rivian

  • +2

    Tesla car meets be like…
“Sweet car bro, looks so much like mine”.
“Yeah, it is bro, just a different colour”.
    “Sweet bro, sweet”.

    • What's your point, exactly? Almost all cars are mass-produced, and every buyer has the same collection of options available. As far as burns go, this is a pretty weak one.

  • +1

With these getting cheaper and cheaper I am thinking of looking at getting one second hand. But when I look most people are attempting to sell at near new price! Where can you find reputable re-sellers of Teslas? Surely a 2nd hand model 3 would be closer to 30k now…

    • +1

They are getting there. Check car sales. I saw the lowest one selling for $30900 in Victoria

  • +1

damn I am really thinking about going the new model 3 performance the price has droped so much.

    • this finance offer doesn't apply to performance model

      • ofcourse it doesn't lol why offer it on the best version of the car lol.

  • -2

    Elon Musk is against transsexuality

  • +4

Great price, however Y will suit more people. I have a Y myself and foujnd it great, but the worst part about owning one are Tesla fans and in particular the "Tesla Owners Australia" facebook group.

Biggest echo chamber around and the owner doesn't take any criticism well at all. Point out any negatives about the cars and you get instantly banned.

    • You do know that Nathan posted this deal :)

    • +1

All car groups on Facebook are full of overzealous nutters

  • Anybody with a model 3 and a young baby? Debating whether to get M3 LR or Y RWD. I know Y is definitely bigger which would be handy for pram but M3 is obviously newer and has better things like the ventilated seats, screen in the back , updated speakers, interior lighting etc

  • Hey @Gomo, any top secret inside information on the Tesla referral program relaunch?

    • Nothing I've heard of, I'm not one to leak if I even knew anything ♥️

  • Just watch out what this does to resale values.

There will be the ones that will keep it forever but realistically when things are tough and you might need to sell your car…

  • why not offer it on the performance model? (me talking like im gonna order one)

    • I could be entirely wrong but I’d imagine sales of the performance model are going well as if you look at existing inventory across the states there’s usually quite a lot of RWD and LR in stock but hardly ever any performance. So they probably don’t feel the need to incentivise performance model

      • i was looking at the 2021 refreshed model 3 performance on carsales you can find one for 45k, effectively nearly half price for a 3 year old car with 50-70k on it. its numbers are only 0.2 sec slower 0 to 100 at 3.3, sure the LED strip interior light is cool and the new headlights, and coolers seats and rear screen, are those worth paying double. yeh i get that its not a new car but %50 more money for a 0.2 sec faster tesla is a big ask, i think the second hand market is where the bargain is. i saw one the other day for 42k 2021 model 3 performance with 55k on the clock, which im sure the person woulda taken a 40k offer. at that price its such a fkn bargain nothing else comes close in terms of performance per dollar, safety, modern looks and technology, just an overall bargain

  • Silly question but what does 1.99% mean.. The actual rate is 1.99% or is it on top of borrowing rate of say 5.0%? So total interest is like 7% or so?
