The first link I clicked was not working, please make sure you see "Plus, once you have an account, you can earn $50 for every successful friend you refer!" after clicking!

    • +2

Update: received the bonus instantly after requesting the advance!

  • Can you use a bank account with very little funds in it for verification ?

    • +2

You'll need an account you receive regular income, say wage

  • +54

Geeze imagine being in debt already and paying 5% more to get your pay earlier. Talk about digging your own grave

    • I don't think many people will actually use their service, but for profit :)

    • Debt is one of the craziest things in human civilisation.

Poor people can struggle to pay 100% of the cost for any particular good/service. So instead they buy it through credit and then end up paying 105%, 110%, 150%, 200%. etc. for that identical item.

For this particular service, imagine that you are so poor that you have no money, and instead of waiting to get 100% of your pay, you would void >5% of your next paycheque just to get your money VERY SLIGHTLY EARLIER. This is one of the stupidest decisions. And of course, someone who is this stupid will not read the terms and conditions and will end up paying much more in fees/interest (ie. it's 24% interest).

And then after you get your pay earlier, now you are permanently worse off forever. ie. now you have 5% less money to live your life, and have even less money to live on until your next paycheque.

It is very stupid. That said, I just signed up and got my bonus. Thanks OP. :)

Edit: they only allow you to access up to 25% of your next pay? Wow, it is even more valueless than I thought. So all this effort and fees to get 25% of your pay days (or at best, weeks) before you will get 100% of it anyway. Haha. It's ironic that I think people who are poor would get better value from a credit card over this. ie. you will have liquidity for emergencies and not necessarily any fees if you pay it off in a reasonable fashion.

      • Something to consider is that "poor" people using this service may not be doing it out of stupidity, but necessity. For example, you are "poor", you have a shit car which you need to use to get to your shit job. Your shit car breaks and it will be $300 to fix it. You have $40 in the bank and you don't get paid for 10 days. If you don't fix your shit car now, you will lose your shit job and be even poorer. These services prey on the vulnerable.

Like you said a cc would be much better value - but the people in these situations probably don't qualify!

        • not be doing it out of stupidity, but necessity

          Ok I agree, to disagree.

"Necessity" is artificially created due to poor decisions. There's this magic formula where people exhaust all available sources of funds but never more than that. ie. give that person $1000 and they will find ways to spend it (lottery tickets, dumb purchases) and suddenly they are back with $40 in their account and then need this "necessity" payday loan to pay for their fuel so they can get to work.

Like I was previously alluding to, the target market for this service is people who live their life so close to the edge that they can't wait DAYS for their pay to arrive in their bank account. And my point is that this "life on the edge" scenario is artificially created due to stupid decisions.

    Worked for me

  • +28

All pretty sad to need this facility

  • +23

So you give a 3rd party access to your bank account so they can use your transaction history for marketing? Is that how it works?

    • +4

Imagine what they’d find in jv’s account!

    • eBay use a similar system to verify bank accounts, which 'gave me some pause for concern'. You login to your bank online through a secure portal so they can verify your account. At least with eBay you can give them access to some low balance account, here you are providing access to your income deposit account, it's worth at least pausing and thinking about.

      • +8

There is never anything 'secure' about giving a third party the login details to your bank account after also giving them all your identity documents.

  • +27

I guess I can be happy that you're all extracting money from these parasitic (profanity).

Imagine referring your mate to a payday lender just to get $50.

    • +3

sound like a bunch of cant's to me!

      • Bunch of ducks but can’ts works too

  • +3

wow that was a very quick $45 profit

  • It was $100 two years back and closed after receiving benefits. Not sure allowed to register again

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/706606

    • Keen to know this too, closed my account previously

    • It says new customer in T&C, now sure how they determin "new customer"

  • +23

    Predatory business

  • If you do "all referrals" you can get like $400 or so a year. Some years have been close to $2k.

  • How do I add my referral code?

    Edit: nvm, figured it out

  • +27

Bank account details, ID to verify account …

How good is their cyber security?

Not worth the $45 for me.

Sounds like instant identity theft in the event of a data leak. Just saying

    • +1

They don't have any issue in the past, but as I said, change your password after the process could be a wise step if you decide to go through.

      • +17

Changing password aint gonna do a thing in the event of a data leak. They have all info needed to access your tax file FYI

        • They have all info needed to access your tax file FYI

thats BS. The ato will often ask you a question unique to your SOA, which isn't anywhere you mentioned.

          • +6

@cloudy: $45 is absolutely not worth the risk or revealing such personal data. Minimise your digital footprint.

          • +1

@cloudy: Not BS. I accessed my tax file last monday. They asked me my personal details, bank account number (which this mob takes) and then asked to text a one time password to my mobile number (which can also be cloned with todays technology).

So if they are hacked, the hacker will have enough info to access your TFN, ABN etc

Since then, i have locked my file and added a security question and answer i have to provide to them before they unlock my account

        • +1

Damn, I thought $45 is a huge win for ozbargainers these days, even signing up to $5 free bitcoin is a huge deal.

          • -3

            @RTX9090Ti: BTC appreciates. AUD depreciates

            • @haru:

              BTC appreciates

              Until it doesn't

            • @haru: hahahah try to buy property in AU with bitcoin, see who accepts it. AUD still rules.

  • +9

Well got excited and clicked on deal link instead of referral. Just lost $5 lmao

  • +3

No good if you have an irregular pay cycle - it automatically declined my partner a sole trader because payment comes in erratically.

    • +3

That's right, they need regular income to be detected.

    • If you email them they will most likely approve it manually

  • +30

nah not worth the $50. First of shitty business concept second of all you wouldn't want to hand over your data to some random company

    • Shitty business concept for sure, but from the data side, they are not new and mentioned they won't store any data from you account, so it should be fine. But yes, change the password after you finish is wise.

      • +14

they won't store any data from you account,

Pretty sure legislation requires them to store data if they hold some type or use another companies financial license due to money laundering laws. They are basically loaning you money which potentially falls under the umbrella of a short term loan = financial service.

They also state in the privacy policy

Whether we supply your personal information to overseas recipients

We supply your personal information to overseas recipients as part of our information technology systems. Those recipients are likely to be in the following countries: the United States of America

Not that USA have a better track record of data leaks in the past lol

        • +3

They will keep your data for a minimum of 5 years, even if you ask to delete it

  • +1

    Easy money. 🚀

  • personal loan?

  • -1

    Thanks OP. Easy cash

    • -2

This guy is fun at parties 😂

      • @Jam2G says the guy messaging everyone on these forums to try and get all the referral credit. Theres a system for a reason, why do you think you are entitled to more than others?

  • +7

I like the feel of saving or scrooging a lazy dollar, but I'm far away from stooping to endorse this at any price.

  • +1

Strange said I already have an account (when I did the ID driver license check)😬 a bit concerning

  • "Sorry, we're unable to process your request as you did not meet our automated assessment criteria."

So now what, does that mean I cannot get the $50 bonus if I try again after next pay?

Also, does it make any difference if I have $0 balance on my bank account?

    • You should leave some funds in your account. My sister got rejected probably due to this too. You should be able to get the bonus if you are verified later.

      • Do you think I need to wait until next pay before trying again? Depositing funds into the account now would not help?

        • If your next pay is within Dec, you probably should just transfer some funds in and then wait for next pay. My own opinion though

    • +1

It has to be whichever bank account you're transferring your pay/most of your pay to. Mine had a $0 balance, and I was declined. I immediately retried with my savings account and was approved.

Just got my $50 bonus as well.

      • Yeah my wages go in there but I always transfer them to another bank account so always $0 balance.

        • Send them an email and they can do a manual review

      • Thanks for sharing! Good to know!

  • +4

pretty much selling all your infor for 45, even include your bank log in details. Very nice move.

Feel like I need to hand over my ID to whoever sign this shit up.

  • +1

soo my wage goes to Up Bank, pretty sure that wasnt there, so selected Bendigo Bank and now stuck at the Bank Details page lol

    • +1

Same here, then checked the FAQ and it specifically pointed out that Up isn’t supported. We tried I guess lol

      • +2

You can try if you have other accounts receive funds regularly, eg $2000 every month for getting account fee waived. It worked for some mates.

        • I tried with my HSBC account where I transfer $2000 every month to activate the cashback but I was also rejected.

    • Ahhh should've read this comment about UP BANK before signing up and getting to the same point

      • Same. Annoying.

I understand why, UP doesn't have a website to log in. App only.

        • They do have an API though

  • +1

Got $50. Everyone should sign up to this.

  • Thought this was a great idea until I realised will show up on my statements when trying to refinance home loan etc.

    • Easy enough to explain though, "signed up to get $45 net free cash". Same as having to explain why I've opened 6 credit cards in a few months, that sort of thing.

  • System shits the bed when you enter a sub account (it's own bsb and account) to a main account as it can't find your monthly pay…

  • +12

“We only charge a 5% fee on your advance. Plus, 24% interest per annum until your advance is paid”

What a disgusting business model, charging the most needless people in society almost 30% on basically an advanced pay day loan. This should be criminal. The only people accessing their pay early would be people already in extreme financial distress.

  • +1

Just signed up my partner for an extra $50. easy promo, reminds me of the $200 webull a while back.

    • +1

Wait so you and your partner got a total of $150?

  • +1

6 referral clicks, no rewards received 💀

    • +1

      Bunch of crooks

    • My account was too complex for the system to handle

  • +4

The system is just outright dumb.

My pay day is the last business day of every month but this website is so stupid that it only recognises payment taking place on the exact day, not one more not one less

Nov pay day was 29th, Oct was 31st, Sep was 30th. None of my pay was recognised because the system could not find a recurring pay in my bank transaction. Seriously how silly is this..wasted 20 mins of my time trying

  • +1

Yes I had the same problem. If you email them they will manually approve it

  • +1

I'm surprised it worked for me, I'm self-employed with different amounts every week. Thanks OP!

  • Didn't work for me as I get different amount every time due to mileage claim. Contacted them. By the way, how do I generate referral link? Thanks.

  • Worked! thank you OP

  • Worked for me, i hate payday type loans but have no issue getting 45 bucks free

  • How do these work? Do they do a credit check or something?

    • +3

You log in your bank and AI crawls around to find your pay pattern…and 100 other things they don't tell you

    • It's not a credit check, but they look at incoming payments vs outgoing, plus the amount you have in your account (normally over the last 90 days)

But I won't pretend I am an expert or anything, that has just been my experience with companies like them

  • +1

This is a loan shark. They prey on vulnerable people. You will be paying a huge amount of interest on this which you will need to pay off, or it balloons upwards.

Better to ask for a pay advance from your employer if you have the option and live on ramen noodles. Or approach your local bank and ask for a small loan, which they will accept if you can demonstrate you are employed. The interest will be much much lower and the terms will be more balanced.

    • +1

People are doing this for profit, not to use it as a service.

      • I still think it may be tempting for vulnerable people to use once they open an account. Better to delete the account after claiming the bonus.

  • Bad news for Up Bank users, it's not in the list of available banks. No, Bendigo doesn't work.

    • My bank didn't show (RACQ Bank), I just chose another bank that closest related to it (Teachers Mutual Bank). Their system still accepted the BSB and account number that I had entered for my RACQ Bank account.

When it came to the page to submit my bank statements/account details I chose the "Different Bank" button and RACQ Bank showed up in that list.

It took about 10 minutes for the account review to complete, I'm not sure if this is the normal amount of time.

      • Won't be the case with Up, they specifically state that it's not supported.

  • +2

It didn't work for me. I'm on Centrelink payments and no, I'm not foolish or desperate enough to use this service. I was just going to get the net $45 then close my account.

I tried to use my Ubank account where I transfer $500 fortnightly (temporarily, for the interest). It said my income was too low. I didn't bother trying the bank account where my Centrelink goes into because I'm sure (or I hope!) the system would reject that. Anyway, they said my income of $500 was too low.

Here are the disqualifiers (from their FAQs)

You do not meet the minimum income requirement
We could not identify wages in your bank account
You are only receiving Centrelink benefits
We identified recent failed payments to other companies
You have an irregular pay cycle
Too much gambling identified in your bank account
You have reached your advance limit for your pay cycle
You have a joint bank account with another MyPayNow customer

    • Don't you have to tell them your employment details too, how did you cover that off?

  • +2

You can just do it with $50- so you only have to pay them $2.50

    • tested and confirmed? op notes minimum 100

      • "2.2. To participate as a Referee, you must:

        (a) before the End Date, use the Referrer's unique link to create an account with the Company, including linking your bank account details to your account and be approved for an advance; and

        (b) at some time thereafter, take an advance."

No minimum advance is mentioned, maybe OP thought $100 was a safe amount?
