  • How do we use these? I know that you can add them like if you're online shopping in credit card details but how do you use these in person can anyone tell me?

I want to prouds one day and they didn't even know how to use the gift card in person so they did a online order via click and collect

    • +3

If you want to use a digital Ultimate gift card in-store, you must add the Ultimate gift card to a supported mobile wallet1 as a new payment card first, then use it like any other Visa card when you are at the merchant. There is more detailed information on the Ultimate gift card website on how to use and redeem your Ultimate gift card, so if you ever forget this comment, you can always refer to the website.

Keep in mind that not all participating retailers will accept Ultimate gift cards in-store, so you should check the Ultimate gift card website first to see whether the participating retailer you want to go to supports the redemption option you want to use. With regards to Prouds, the Ultimate gift card website lists it as accepting Ultimate gift cards in-store (as well as online and exchange).

      1. Apple Pay, Google Wallet and Samsung Wallet are the only supported mobile wallets.

      • Can i load this in google wallet and pay online for nandos?

        • +1

My guess is that would not work, because the Ultimate gift card website lists Nando's as only accepting Ultimate gift cards in-store.

However, there is no harm in trying, especially if the Ultimate gift card website is wrong (and it has been wrong multiple times before). I personally do not eat at Nando's and do not remember seeing any comments on whether paying online or via the app works for Ultimate gift cards…

          • +2

@WookieMonster: Last year sometime, i used to be able to checkout at Nando’s online portal via Nando’s app using Ultimate Eats as payment method by inputting card no/expiry/cvv, not by using digital wallet.

  • How do you redeem? I can’t see it in the app to purchase it

    • Gift Cards on the front page and then it's the first banner on the top.
That's for Android and make sure your app is updated just in case?

  • How do you use these online when most places don't do part payment online? Just have to order less than the value of a single card?

I tried a T2 order for a bit over $100 and wanted to use a $100 gift card and pay the rest with my credit card but couldn't (no option to split payment).

    • +1

You can only place an online order less than or equal to the available balance of the Ultimate gift card. I cannot think of any Ultimate gift card participating retailer that would let you do split payments between multiple Visa cards online (and if you think about it, it is extremely unusual to see any online retailers allow this).

For T2, did you try purchasing a $100 T2 gift card first from the T2 website, then use that T2 gift card and your credit card to pay for your slightly-over-$100 order? It is against the Ultimate gift card terms and conditions to purchase a gift card at any participating retailer using an Ultimate gift card, but there is a chance that T2 would let you do this anyway. The alternative would be to go to a physical T2 store and purchase a $100 physical T2 gift card using an Ultimate gift card (and I have done this before), but I am assuming you have a physical T2 store near you.

      • Thanks for the tip, didn't think of that! Worked for lululemon gift card

      • Do you know if that would work for JB Hi-Fi?

        • I tried to purchase a JB Hi-Fi gift card on the JB Hi-Fi website using an Ultimate gift card earlier this year (firstly by punching in the card details into the checkout, then via Apple Pay), but JB Hi-Fi cancelled my purchases each time.

However, if you look at the webpage for the Ultimate Everyone gift card, it says you can go to the Ultimate gift card exchange portal and exchange your Ultimate gift card for a digital JB Hi-Fi gift card that is emailed to you. That is probably the simplest way to turn multiple Ultimate gift cards into something that can be used in one JB Hi-Fi online transaction, especially because I believe there is no limit to the number of JB Hi-Fi gift cards you can redeem in one online transaction.

Inability to split payment makes it really hard to fully utilize these cards. 7% is good, but I'll be giving this deal a miss.

  • Anyone know when this offer expires?

  • I want to buy something $1600 at JB. It seems that JB Hi-Fi also doesn't allow split payment, so is the only option here to go to the store (if they even have it in stock) and scan 16 different cards, one by one? Seems cumbersome.

    • You can exchange this card for JB Hi-Fi GCs here.

      • Thanks! The site seems pretty bare bones, and I can't find the answer I need. Does it mean I can combine the cards too? Turn the 16 $100 cards into one or two?

        • +1

The exchange portal will allow you to convert one Ultimate gift card into one or multiple retailer gift cards. For example, if you have a $100 Ultimate Everyone gift card, you can go to the exchange portal and exchange it for:

          • 1x $100 JB Hi-Fi gift card, or
          • 1x $50 JB Hi-Fi gift card and 1x $50 The Good Guys gift card.

You cannot exchange multiple Ultimate gift cards into one retailer gift card through this exchange portal. For example, if you have 16x $100 Ultimate gift cards, you cannot exchange them at the same time through this portal into 1x $1600 JB Hi-Fi gift card. Instead, you can only exchange the 16x $100 Ultimate gift cards into 16x JB Hi-Fi gift cards (and you would need to exchange each Ultimate gift card one at a time).

          • +1

@WookieMonster: Thanks. I also asked JB Hi-Fi, and they can do unlimited gift cards online or in store, so if we exchange Ultimate cards to JB cards on that site, we can then use the cards when buying leisurely at home. Appreciate your efforts.

  • Do EB Games or JB Hi-Fi sell Steam Store gift cards in store? It appears they don't online…

    • +1

I am fairly sure they both sell them in-store, as I spotted them during my last visit to each store.

Keep in mind it is against the Ultimate gift card terms and conditions to use Ultimate gift cards as a payment method for any gift cards or vouchers at participating retailers, plus it is also against the JB Hi-Fi gift card policy to do this. However, if you only tell the EB Games or JB Hi-Fi staff member you want to pay using card or Visa, you will probably get away with it…

      • How about the T&C's for the TCN cards?

        • +2

There is nothing in the TCN eftpos gift cards terms and conditions that specifically prohibits you from using them to purchase gift cards or vouchers at retailers.

The way in which the JB Hi-Fi gift card policy is worded suggests that there is nothing to stop you from using those TCN eftpos gift cards as a payment method for gift cards, as those do not have feature the JB Hi-Fi brand on them. However, if a staff member is on a power trip and decides you cannot use any kinds of gift cards to purchase any gift cards (especially since you have to swipe to redeem them, which is an unusual way to use a card in Australia these days), you are out of luck! Also, the TCN eftpos gift cards you link to use the same BIN as the TCN multi-retailer gift cards (e.g. TCN Home, TCN Kids), so if JB Hi-Fi has placed restrictions for those in their checkouts when you are trying to purchase a gift card, the TCN eftpos gift card will be caught up in the same restrictions.

      • Annoyingly my local JB only had $20 and $35 denomination Steam gift cards. I was hoping for a $50 denomination to buy Factorio. I could buy both and end up with $55 but there’s no immediate savings…
