will this one be a big upgrade over my Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8700 CPU @ 3.20GHz, 3201 Mhz, 6 Core(s), 12 Logical Processor(s)? its starting to struggle on the bigger tasks these days.

      Of course… 2017 vs 2023 release…

      • ty im not up to date with any of this stuff these days sadly. sorry to bother but if you had $500 for a new cpu mobo combo what would you go for?

        • +1

TBH, this deal isn't that bad. I also run 7500F on my 2nd PC and it runs very well.

If you're gaming and happy to go a bit more towards $600, I'd recommend AMD 7600X + Gigabyte B650M Aorus Elite AX 1.3. While you're at it you might as well grab a set of (16GB x 2) DDR5 6000 Mhz RAM like the GSkill Trident Z5 F5-6000J3038F16GX2-TZ5NR

@djmm: thanks mate yeah i do game occasionally but more for doing cad work these days. can probs spend upto $750 for a really good deal.

Worth noting the 7500F doesn't have a built in graphics card

Do you have a link for the $69 DDR5 Ram?

  • +6

imo no point getting into the "AM5 Platform" with a motherboard so low tier that if you changed the CPU you would need to change the mobo anyway…..

Whats stopping you from buying a 9500F or 10500F or whatever they'll call them in 2-3 years with a 65W TDP?

      • +2

        9600X has 65W TDP

      • +1

because that's not a meaningful upgrade imo, I would assume you likely finish a platform out with the best in slot for that platform. Eg 5800x3d for AM4.

    • Lots of AM5 CPU's will continue to be 65w and at only $119.. you could always get a nice new motherboard for your existing AM5 CPU in the future when PCI-E 5.0 on the GPU socket and Nvme slot becomes useful

    • Then what is a cheap and future proof AM5 mobo?

  • +1

7500F is a great way to enter into the AM5 platform. You can upgrade to 9800X3D once it's released 😉 .

    • Maybe not on this motherboard unless its TDP is 65w

  • funny store, some of the bundles are more expensive than individual parts
