You are doing your part OP

The only good bug is a dead bug

Somehow Helldivers 2 makes this movie even better.

      • +5

I'm sad that Helldivers 1 never got as much love, obviously they made the right financial choice diverting away from the "Magicka x Starship Troopers" formula, but I always enjoyed the Magicka style gameplay.

I'm from OzBargain and I say buy 'em all

      • +1

        Broden…

  • +10

Bought this for $30 six months ago. If you can be patient it pays off to put the 4ks in your cart and wait for them to go on sale. Happens quite frequently.

    • +1

You got this 25th Anniversary 4k "SteelBook" for $30 or the normal 4k movie in a plastic case for $30?

I see on https://au.camelcamelcamel.com/product/B0B7XWRQDL it was $31.53 in December 2023

      • +11

You got him, rounding down police are out.

      • +3

Ha! You got me, $31.53 it was. I thought it actually did go lower than that though. Anyways, great movie!

        • +1

If it was the steel case version.. awesome deal @t $31.53

  • -2

I think this was cheaper during prime days last week

  • +2

Can confirm that the transfer for this is fantastic! Definitely worth the purchase, thanks OP

  • +25

Would you like to know more?

  • Oh god were going to die

  • +3

Hoping for a standard case version for a decent price.

Actively avoid the overpriced scratch and dent variety wherever possible.

  • +5

Great movie that had terrible cash grab sequels

    • +2

      You can just say sequels.

      • +5

T2 and Aliens would like to correct that commend for you. :) both massive improvments to the first films.

        • +3

I wouldn’t say they were massive improvements as I feel like that implies the originals weren’t great, but I agree they were worthy sequels. I’m sure you could name more, but the fact that only two came to mind kind of speaks to my point haha.

          • +1

@alcadive: Star Wars Episode IV: The Empire Strikes Back
Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones
            Star Trek: Into Darkness
Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
            The Bourne Supremacy
            Mission: Impossible 2
            Deadpool 2
            The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
            Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials
            Toy Story 2
            Kung Fu Panda 2
            Scream 2
            Lethal Weapon 2
            Back to the Future II
            Tron: Legacy
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
            Blade Runner 2049
            The Dark Knight Rinses1 Rises
            John Wick: Chapter 2

            • +5

@Chandler: How on earth is Godfather Part II not on this list?

              • +1

@Randolph Duke: Not sure if I should be admitting to this, but haven't watched it…

Agreed but, and I really should have put it there anyway since there are some other movies there that I haven't watched either…

            • @Chandler: There are some great sequels on that list but Attack of the Clones has to be a troll, right? :)

              • @GSDan: I feel that AotC had more positives than negatives, whereas The Last Jedi was the opposite. But then I'm also someone who wasn't completely turned off by all the politicking in the prequel trilogy…

          • +2

@alcadive: Agree, Alien and Terminator were both excellent movies, suspenseful and not just shoot em up action like the (also good) sequels.

  • So pretty

  • +3

The dyslexic in me thought it said Super Troopers but the Zoomer in me hadn’t seen either hah..

Ok so I was intrigued and based on the OzB and Amazon reviews I’ve got to get this - thanks OP

    • +2

      Super Troopers also good meoow..

      • +2

Hey beach bum, what's the name of that restaurant you like with all the goofy shit on the walls and the mozzarella sticks?

    • -1

Super Troopers > Starship Troopers….. by a billion!

  • +6

I can still remember that trailer on TV with the Blur 2 song in it.

    • +2
      • +1

The version shown on TV was much shorter - 30 seconds or less. Nice find though.

  • Is this the one with the shower scene?

    • +3

Should be, was directed by Paul Verhoeven.

    • +1

Yep. Unisex showers in the future. We do see some chest berries.

      • +1

We all had a thing for redheads after this.

    • +5

That part of the VHS got many rewinds.

      • +1

VHS rofl. DVD was already out when this was released.

        • +2

My very first DVD. It was a flipper as well.

        • +2

Not quite true. I saw it at the cinema and loved it. At the time it only got a region 1 release on Blu ray so I imported it. Cost $70AUD or something stupid like that..IIRC it was widescreen on side A and 4:3 on side B.
A region 4 release came much later (possibly a year).
This was at a time when the only DVD releases in Australia seemed to be Die Hard With a Vengeance and The Fugitive. Oh and Jumanji for some reason. What a time.

          • @mingofmongo: Surely you mean DVD and not Blu-ray.

            • +1

@Mondorock: He must, because the Blu-ray format didn’t debut until 2006, and numbers aren’t used for Blu-ray region codes, letters are.

          • @mingofmongo: Yeah sorry guys, I meant DVD not Blu ray! Blame it on being old enough to remember DVD. And VHS. And Beta…

        • Plenty of people were still using VHS in 1998/1999 for recording free-to-air TV and renting from video stores. The DVD sections in video stores took a little while to build up.

I can't remember how much mainstream DVD players used to cost. I used to use my PS2 for DVDs.

  • +1

I'd buy that for a dollar

    • +6

      Wrong movie.
You have 10 seconds to comply

      • Speaking of which, just finished Rogue City. Had a great time and would recommend it for any fan.

  • +1

    Democracy has been well delivered!

    • You know, one day a movie or series will be made a lot closer to the book. Henlein would have hated this.

But this is definitely a guilty pleasure.

  • +5

A mate and I took off from our 1998 school swimming carnival in year 11 go see this at the cinemas, after the movie we luckily made it back to the aquatic centre just in time for role call, other than some of our other mates that were too scared to go nobody noticed we were gone.

  • +3

I’m gettting Pocoyo vibes from this case :P

  • +3

Worth noting like many Sony SteelBook releases of previously available 4K titles, this is the only way to get Dolby Vision on disc.

    • That said, DV can gargle my balls and then go back to their walled garden.

      • It's better than HDR10 and more widely supported than HDR10+. No difference to receivers needing to support multiple audio codecs.

  • +1

    Underrated PC game

  • +3

growing up I used to think Carmen was the hot one, but now I’m totally digging Dizzy

    • +2

      Dizzy best girl

  • +2

    Thanks OP
I'd expect anyone here to do the same for me

  • +1

If you disable the enemy's clicking hand, then he cannot impulse-buy a deal!

  • Maybe I should just buy it and sell the case. Can't seem to find the regular case version for less.

    • Yeah.. those others are not being reprinted. existing stock.. while this is a Sony Reprint/re-release of the steelbook :) "more stock = cheaper"

    • The ozbargainer in me is too scared to start buying Steelbooks. Because then I'll want everything to match, and I know what a ripoff they are.

  • Usually dispatched within 1 to 2 months.

A waiting time from the 90's. That's a very slowwwww boat from China.

There often seems to be some kind of inverse correlation between how 'niche' or 'cult' an item is, and the level of customer service and convenience.

    • physical media is a low demand item (thanks to streaming platforms) so they don't print heaps of these disks for sale..
They produce them when the demand is there not hoping for demand after printing.
Most of the delay is for new stock to come in from the factory. Also these would be coming into America by boat and flying out of America to Australia by plane. (a guess)

  • Apparently a great 4k transfer

Still not as good as the original 35mm!

    • Nothing can beat 4k Disks these days due to the displays output hardware
35mm! using the best projector doesnt even come close to

a 4k UHD disk played on an LG 83" OLED EVO C4 with HDR / dolby vision
The screen technology itself is the winning factor

Those $100k digital projectors at the cinema's are not counted. Just talking about home setup.

      • native 4K capture sure, it looks great, but repops from the original Eastman EXR 35mm film just aren't the same.

  • Price jumped up to $42.67

  • Back up to $67

    • Yep.. For those who got a copy.. well done.. This 4K steelbook has always been around $100 on ebay :)

  • +1

a good bug is a dead bug

  • And then they brought in the mortien , and the war was over .
