This is actually pretty cheap! Can confirm it does noticably increase the temp rating of the sleeping bag. Maybe not 14 degrees like it claims (that's pretty wild), but maybe 2-4 degrees rating on the bag.

Only thing to note is it's pretty heavy at around 450g. Good to make your current bag do more, otherwise better off buying a higher rated bag.

Yeah and it's bulky as. It could be good if car camping but not hiking. TBH I don't see the point in these. Just wear a fleece track pants and a puffy jacket/fleece top and you'll increase your warmth

Agree, maybe there designed for nudists 🤷

I think this is pretty good. Consider that this is only 400g' ish is pretty good if you use a lighter sleeping bag or quilt or mat and just use this during the winters.

For only $45, you can make a $100 sleeping bag perform nicely without spending big or having multiple sleeping bags.

For summer, the liner material might also be nicer/ more comfortable than sleeping bag material.

Not too bulky either if wrapped together in the sleeping bag.

Fleece and fluffy jacket are good ideas but I don't necessarily recommend sleeping in Down (I'm just scared I'll ruin it, not big deal depending on jacket - cheap macpac halo/synthetic/non-down ok). Some people don't like wearing layers while sleeping. Product definitely has legitimate good use but people should consider the many options available.

  • Dirt cheap. But as stated, they only add a few degrees. Does work well as a summer option instead of a summer sleeping bag.

These can also be helpful to keep your sleeping bag clean, especially on multi day hikes when you may not have access to showers / clean clothes. The liner is easily washable compared to a sleeping bag

In warmer months I go one of these inside a reflective bivvy instead of a sleeping bag, takes up far less space

  • I use these with a down quilt to minimise bulk and weight.

Really? At 400 grams you're hardly minimising weight.

It might be cheap, but its heavy and doesn't keep you that much warmer. Source: I own one and honestly wouldn't bother.

      • You have to look at the TOTAL weight, NOT the individual weight.
Just because you haven't found them quite warm doesn't mean that everyone else would feel the same!

        • Open quilt? When hiking? That is thermally rather inefficient and thus the weight/heat performance of your combo is actually pretty bad.
Better sleeping bag + extra clothing is better. Especially if the clothing can be worn during the day. But for people who really run cold this is a good product but not with an open quilt…

          • @goodwillN1: Your points are valid but not entirely true as quilts can perform very well. Some are designed to work together with the mat and can provide more comfort for some.

This product seems ok option for quilt users too, depending on mat+quilt combo.

            • @DONMAI: Oh I am a big fan of open quilt in warm weather so I can stick a leg out. I even keep my sleeping bad open and use as a quilt in warm nights. But if you are already stuck inside the liner then quilt is nothing but a compromise to your situation. But if you only have a quilt available with a well insulated mat then of course it is a usable combo. Just not weight efficient and bulk is also questionable as thinner sleeping bag and liner is similar bulk as your quilt+liner probably but just as warm.

I got this at 64.90 for a 3 day camp in the snow @snowys. It worked ok, it looks fairly thin but seem to have kept me warm, but dont know if it was because my sleeping blanket. at $45 meh not heavily discounted but would recommend.
