https://www.instagram.com/p/C9nPgQ8Ozkv Recent research indicates that certain chemicals used in dishwasher pods and rinse aids can negatively impact gut health.
Specifically, alcohol ethoxylates, commonly found in these products, have been shown to disrupt the gut epithelial barrier, leading to increased permeability. This disruption can contribute to various health issues such as inflammation, leaky gut syndrome, and potentially autoimmune diseases (SciTechDaily) (AAAAI) (MedXpress).

The study found that both high and low doses of these chemicals can damage gut cells. High doses can kill the cells, while lower doses make the gut lining more permeable, which can lead to inflammation and other chronic conditions

@OzBragain: While I agree with your statement regarding instagram, I do think the information @capslock janitor provided is enough to warrant doing ones own independent research on the matter. I know I will be. Thanks @capslock janitor for looking out for your fellow ozbargainer's health.

Yup got it and stacked with S&S = $17

  • Canceled existing sub that was $25’ish and grabbed this, some reason $16.36 for my sub. Winner

    • +6

People actually keep their subs? I've never ever kept a sub active after that initial purchase. Interesting!

      • The one time I forgot long enough for the next one to roll around all I managed to get was an email saying the item was out of stock. It's a great system.

      • The one sub I thought would be useful, coke Zero cans, got more expensive as it went on until it somehow became more expensive than just buying the same box of cans as a one off, which I didn't notice until I got an email about it being delayed one time and went to have a look what was going on. Such a scam.

No prime-specific… But I'm sure it's a big conspiracy with dog food. The prices for quality food is BS. Takes SO long to find decent pricing, and has to be subscribed, combined deals. Visit a standard "discount" pet barn/warehouse, and the prices are horrible.

    still can't beat aldi's…

      • Cheap doesn't necessarily mean good lol. Not sure I'd use Bunnings brand - also each is individually wrapped, annoying waste of plastic.

Same price as Woolies brand 100 pack anyway.

        • +1

I use the exonic powder. I use about 20 grams which is equivalent to 1 finish tablet and I can vouch that it works better than the finish tablet. I also tried the Aldi's brand (powder) which is about 20 cents cheaper than Bunning's exonic powder but I am not happy with the result. The bunning's exonic one cleans the dishes better. I am not sure about the Exonic Tablet though.

        • +1

I recommended them because theyre good.

  • Great price, the 5% off brought it down to $17 and quickly bought a 3% off gift card

  • Thanks OP, started SS with one ($17), been using Aldi all this time , let’s see how we go

  • Thanks OP

Everyone should at least give the more generic ones a go. I've been using Shine and actually prefer it to Finish etc.

Just started using Shine powder yesterday after running out of the Aldi powder. The Aldi powder left a white residue on the plastic shelves of the dishwasher. See how Shine goes.

      • +1

Same!!!!! The Aldi powder ALWAYS left a white residue on many of things washed - especially the decor containers (and other similar stuff). It drove me insane!

I resorted back to the platinum Aldi capsules (used to be tablets), until I find another good powder alternative.

Might give Shine and the Bunnings powder a go next, as per the recommendations in this thread :)

    • Just switched to Shine 1kg powder, waiting to finish off my ALDI ones first but been using Shine as pre-wash.

  • Bought 180 of these for $50 on catch still unopened. Should I grab a couple packs. Be good for a year almost.

    • +1

Catch ones had a short “expiry” we ha used them and found by the last bag they clumped up and didn’t dissolve right every time.

  • This vs aldi?

    • -1

Is it cheaper than ALDI yet? The ALDI tabs are excellent so unless they price beat them it’s irrelevant

    • Aldi changed their platinum ones to ones you can’t cut in half (we have a dish drawer and I very quickly worked out that each shelf doesn’t need a whole tablet for a perfect wash) and are more expensive.

The non platinum ones blacken lots of metal we put in our dishwasher (like aluminium).

I tested a Finish tablet from The Reject Shop which has the same problem.

I’d love to find a replacement but otherwise we’ll be trying out the new Aldi platinum as it’s still cheaper even without cutting in half. We still have half a box left of the old platinum tabs!

      • I’ve never cut a tablet in half, but I’ve always cut the top of Aldi tabs and put them in the dishwasher compartment without the plastic cover and they are excellent

      • +4

Cutting tablets seems like alot of work! Just try the powder instead?

        • It only takes a couple of seconds before every second wash. It really made those Aldi platinum tablets and each wash very cheap.

I'm going to try the powder but I suspect it has the same ingredient, lye, which blackens aluminium.

          • @whitey1212: the ALDI powder has left my plasticsvery cloudy so I stopped using it. Is that due to Lye as well?

            • +1

@Kill Joy: Unsure on your Q - but this happens to me as well. I'm back on the aldi platinum (in the capsule version) because the aldi was leaving my washing cloudy overall (especially plastics)

  • Thanks OP, added S&S

  • Thanks OP! Saved $2 through S&S. Also received $1 promotional credit which reduced the price to $17. Sweet deal!

  • Sold out i think.

  • Out of stock

    • Dammm thought it was me, was trying to buy it now too 😨

  • +8

Damn missed out by a few seconds, but the 100 packs are still available for $0.28 with S&S. Got that instead

    • +1

Thanks! Got some in the 100 pack.

    • Got the 100 pack and there was a 5% off promo checkbox which made it .26 per tablet, woo!

  • I got issued a refund on my order /sigh

Technology Connections recent video may make you rethink on using pods. Powder is much cheaper and just as effective.

    • Facts. I switched to Shine at Woolworths.

  • +1

I’m an inherently lazy person and even I couldn’t imagine going back to tablets. Powder all the way

  • +2

switch to shine or ALDI powder. these are just a marketing gimmick with an exorbitant price tag.

  • I've switched to shine tablets and been pretty happy with them

BTW are these specials ONLY for Prime members? If so why are they on OzBargain?

    • Costco deals are here too, what’s the issue?
