Nice! I wonder if this could be price matched

    • I called all the usual suspects; nobody would do it. I wonder if Amazon would via live chat or something…

      • Amazon does scan competitors prices and may match their prices automatically, but I don’t think they ever price match via chat or anything. Happy to be corrected though.

      • given amazon dont have it listed anywhere for sale i'd say they cant get stock yet (or at least until its out of pre-order status)

    • Out of curiosity, why the need to price match?

      • hmm personally for me I've bought a few too many items over the years from camera house that were 'new' but not sealed in box and clearly were on-the-shelf demo products used in store, has kinda broke some trust threre. I don't think that would happen in this case though for a new range of product.

Anyways - currently telling myself i don't need to upgrade my R5.1, dont need it dont need it dont need it

      • wouldn't mind an additional new battery, apparently the old batteries can't be used for the R52

        • I believe the LP-E6NH batteries can still be used, but apparently some features only work with the new battery (from Canon's website).

  • Looking forward to this camera. Not the price tag. The accessories pricing is crazy. Early adopter tax!

Quick look around for some accessories, cheapest listed price for the new batteries I can find so far is $155.
    The basic grip is $649.95

Anyone buying a couple things, def have a conversation with Digidirect see if they'll knock a few bucks off a package deal (can only ask!)

    • Digi's response when I asked if they would throw in the battery was 'Nope. Too many people want this camera as it is. If you want it, you will buy it regardless of whether it has a bonus battery or not'.

  • Anyone know how long the pre order price held up for the original Canon r5 before the prices started to drop?
Wondering if I should pre order the mark ii or wait for it to drop in price a few months later like phones usually do…

    • Hard to compare as there were all sorts of Covid-related supply issues in 2020 when the R5 was released.

Hard to say but the R6 II's price fell off quite quickly.

      • Thanks guys

      • No pre-order of cameras unless it's paid by a business or it's a Fujifilm X100 series camera.

    • id say it will be pretty heavily in demand so either real or artificial stock restriction will probably kick into keep it high for some time.

Im personally going to wait as a footy photographer i'll really only get a couple of games in (if it actually arrives in late august) - my r5 and r6ii will suffice over the off-season

Is buying this camera equivalent to a fat boomer buying a specialized s-works road bike?
