Its $699 most places so may be able to get it cheaper if you have JB or HN 10% discounted GC

    • +1

Thanks @easternculture - yes JB is $699 (could ask for price match) and HN is $695.

      • +1

Don't just ask for a price match, get them to go lower.

  • I am new to washers, is this a bargain?

    • +3

      Good price for 9kg

      • It only weight 9kg?!

        • +1

No, you can put 9kg worth of wet clothes or bedding in it.

          • @yws: You wet the clothes before putting them inside the washing machine??

            • @shxhshzhz: Not really, but they get heavier in the machine when it gets rinsed ๐Ÿ˜€

              • +1

@yws: I had wondered about that kg rating.. was pretty sure our washing loads were not even close to 5kg. But how wet is wet? Like after spun, or maximum soaking wet or what? Is this basically the most common size?

    • I just bought a 7.5kg washer for $500 on sale, so yes this is a great price

I canโ€™t fit a 9kg machine properly in my space unfortunately

      • How are they different? Wider?

        • Taller

          • @linkindan: Thanks, we're planning a reno of the laundry and thought of switching to a front loader so that we can extend the bench top over the washer but I think we'll stick with a top loader

            • @Ozbar Gain: Understand the frustration with that, but if you can build for the bigger machine, do it
It will work to your advantage in the long run having space for a bigger machine, which can be filled with an appliance drawer if you want to use a smaller one

$645 from The Good Guys eBay or even llower at $625.50 with eBay Plus SALE10

  • $699 delivered on the LG website - probably get some cashback too

  • My dumbass friend just paid $1200ish on this two week ago despite me convincing him to wait.

    • +17

Sounds like you did not convince him…

    • +2

Likely to be a different model as this retail price is $999.

But your friend is still a dumbass

Iโ€™d buy a Bosch 8 series 9kg or Bosch 6 series 10kg for that price.

  • Missed the CB from CBR 13% 2 days ago.

  • Can this take a King bed quilt?

    • Doubt it. Pretty tight with the 12kg one.

    • +1

      Nope need 12 or more

      • Our 10kg Beko takes a king quilt without issues.

  • Anyone has experience with using washer/dryer combo over normal washers?

    • Had 1 at home for a couple of years now. Only use quick wash 30minutes. Any other functions/automatic you will be waiting for cloths to be washed all day long (3-4hrs show on the machine)

    • Bro had one, failed after w few years and took ages

    • I think it depends. Mine is a Miele and works fine and been going strong for about 5 years.

Incredibly I purchased an LG washing machine today. Paid a price I'm too embarrassed to disclose. Hope I'm doing the right thing. The 11kg Samsung shat itself after 7.5 years. I don't know why the most important feature personally to me is tub size. Could never do one of those 6 or 7kg. Got 14kg one. Need to feel it has space for those huge fluffy blankets and the like. Need to feel I'm doing 2 loads at once on those busy weekends when you neglected the families clothes for the whole week. Now I'm wondering if this would've sufficed. Guess I'll never know. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • +1

I agree. Even 9kg is very meh for me.
It needs to be 10+. Once you've had a decent sized front loader, there's no more going back to single digit load size.

      • +1

๐Ÿ™‚ i can't believe how long I seriously contemplated the 17kg for. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ It might have something to do with how much I don't enjoy washing clothes. My family make a lot of laundry - not suggesting I can chill on the washing all week and then boom magically do one load on the weekend, but that's kind of the dream.

        • Putting them into the machine, hitting quick 30 isn't that big of a task. It's the hanging up and bringing back in that takes effort. If you have hanging space for 12kg and a big basket it might work out, it is still the same amount of work however.

          • @OzzyBrak: Absolutely see your point but to me I want to focus my energy on one stint of it, might be because I'm certainly no youngen. Feels like I want 4 slices on toast and have a one slice toaster otherwise. It can be done yes but mildly annoying for me. It's also lovely to throw in monster huge thick blankets and not even have to think about how it only just squiezes in. :) I likely go overkill when I wash - never having short cycles. My Samsung I always selected a minimum of 2 hours 22 minutes so 30 minute reality is unknown to me. ๐Ÿ™‚

            • @seamonkey: If you are doing 2 1/2 hour wash cycles, I can see the appeal of big loads. For lightly soiled clothing, which is honestly most stuff I use the 30 minute express cold wash cycle and find that the majority of the effort in is hanging it out, so larger loads aren't that big of a deal.

I agree that big machines are fantastic for big blankets and other large items.

              • @OzzyBrak: Yeah plus it's a trust thing. Can't opt for 30 minute express because my family ranges between frail old me, probably a few short years from adult diapers (joking) right through to my youngest at 7. Add in a premenopausal wife and one can never quite guarantee precisely what's being loaded in there. ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚ I realise I'm now overthinking this. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ Have a wonderful weekend. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Is 9kg enough for 2 adults, 2 kids? (Future planning)

    • +2

Yes for 2 loads. Otherwise go 12kg+ for single load

LG 10kg is $799 from LG or JB ,
$788 fro the GG or HN with a $40 gift card .
    $750 from P&N Electronics .

Best deal is probably LG if you join MYLG for the $50 discount and free delivery as mentioned above.
For me I like JB-Hi-Fiโ€™s warranty so would price match there , they just make returns easy if you have any issue unlike HN or online stores.
Also after using an LG 10kg for years I couldnโ€™t go back to anything smaller , it is about the perfect size .
Iโ€™m almost always doing 3/4 to full loads and would only go 10kg or bigger as a replacement .
Just makes it a lot easier basically doing half the amount of wash loads a week from the 7.5kg Electrolux front loader I used to have , donโ€™t know how the math works but itโ€™s way better, I know that .
    Love my LG .

Price match at appliances online? They connect it and take away your old machine.

    • AO dont pricrmatch anymore. They refused my previous 2 requests months ago

      • They do price match with tons of conditions, which is understandable.

      • Well they are digging their own grave if that's the case

      • Must admit I haven't used them for a while but they always used to be very good with price matching.

        • They were but for some reason, they stopped sometime during covid.

They may have restarted the pricematch again, but i did try earlier this year and was refused

      • Price matched with AO using E&S twice earlier this year a month apart. I think you may have given bad examples to them.

  • Have this exact model, wouldn't recommend it, it's very rough on clothes. You have to download the app to add a spin cycle, which is ridiculous.

    • Sounds like you don't know what you're doing. I have an LG, press power, then spin.. there's your spin cycle.

  • 10kg is cheaper at $788

  • I ment better value

  • My washer died during covid where Miele and Bosch machines were 5+ weeks lead time. Ended up ordering a WV9-1410W (looks the same, but maybe higher spec?) 10kg machine front load LG washer.

Had 2 kids under 2, with never ending laundry so purchased a LG machine for next day delivery. Have been very impressed with it!!
