  • Whats the difference with Scrub Mommy or other special edition of scrub Daddy ? Looks similar

      • +13

The mommy is double sided, soft sponge on one side

    • +1

Scrub Mommy has a sponge half side

    • +1

Some have a soft side and a harder side. They are all basically the same. I'd buy one of each, they last a long time, sanitise them by putting them in the dishwasher after thoroughly rinsing any handwashing detergent out of them first. Or possibly microwaving them if you don't have a dishwasher.

      • for sponge: microwave with a rinsing of water and a touch of vinegar.

    • +3

Mommy is better, as it has hard side and a soft side.

      • +8

Agree but I feel like the scrub daddy lasts much longer…. Contrary to what one would assume, lol.

    • +1

Mommy is way better. Holds the washing liquid and actually cleans whilst the daddy doesn't hold the liquid and leaves unclean areas on plates.

      • That may be the case in your house :)

  • +1

    My favourite sponge

    • Literally the best sponge, never smell and throw them in the dishwasher and they come out like new again

  • +8

tried this cause of the hype, not sure what's so great about it

    • +13

      Try using it

    • Because marketing told you it's good! You gotta buy more! Sponges like these are revolutionary, you can clean stuff with them! Incredible.

      • It is in fact, a patented new material. It isn't marketing. It changes texture based on water temperature, so you have an "adjustable" sponge. It also cleans easy and is more durable. Doesn't retain material and start to smell.

If you lift your weight around the house, you'll understand the advantages.

        • +1

Nah, I've tried three of these sponges (had a subscription that I didn't get round to cancelling) and haven't even bothered taking the last one out of the packaging. They are 'adjustable' the wrong direction. When you want to scrub hard crusted food in the sink, you want to be doing it with hottest possible water and hardest sponge, instead of the softest.

I don't care if they last longer, if they are less useful than the generic dual sided sponges they are no use.

    • +12

try using it for the entire lifespan of the sponge

You'll find it doesn't smell and lasts longer than the cheap sponges.

Would argue buying $3 worth of cheap sponges vs this..

It might almost be comparable in longevity but would much rather use this..

If you're going at it hard, then use something else but for everyday use it is much nicer to use

    • I can use one of these for at least a month and a half before it goes bad. Cheap sponges go bad after a week.

I haven't done the maths on whether I'm saving money using this sponge, but I'm certainly putting less sponges in landfill.

    • +4

Tried a couple of these sponges. Didn't like them at all.

When cold, they're quite hard and unpleasant to hold, when warm they're about as effective as the usual yellow/green scrubbers without the advantage of the green bit.

      • +11

That's not a bug, it's a feature. It was designed to work like that
If you want to scrub, use it while it's cold. And you can use it with warm water as a normal dish sponge

        • +4

Yeah, I know it's designed like that (I think it even says it on the packaging.)

I just find no value in it, and it's quite annoying. If I am trying to scrub something stubborn, I want to be using hot soapy water. So the old school green and yellow sponges are better for that.

Seems like it should really work the other way round, but plastics don't behave like that so it's impossible. So they're selling a 'bug' as a 'feature.'

          • +1

            @rumblytangara: it does seem counter-intueirtive(?)…

          • @rumblytangara: Agreed, a sponge that's soft when cold and hard when hot would align much better with my dishwashing workflow!

            • +1

@TimeOrMoney: Lots of people obviously like these scrub daddy sponges, but I wish someone could explain why [hot water = soft] and [cold water = hard] is better than the other way round.

When I was using one, every time I had to scrub something stubborn in hot water, I'd have to resort to the old green scrubber or to steel wool.

    • Same, tried buying multiple scrub daddy/mommy and didn't see the hype.
the team behind this product poured millions into marketing this so they did something right.
for me, temu sells normal cleaning sponges, $3-4 for 24 pcs. if each last 1 month, that's 2 years of use.

  • Got one last time, so good!

  • +2

Scrub Daddy & Scrub Mommy are much better than supermarket Daddy & Mommy (aka other scrubs)

  • OOS

    • Still showing as in stock for me. Just ordered one to try.

    • Check / update your postcode. Took me ages to realise that Amazon had blocked me. If I choose to pick up from a locker or use a family address stock started showing.

  • Is this similar to the "Chux Non Scratch Scrubbing Sponge"? $6 for a two-pack at Coles, but comes up at half-price every now and then.

  • Scrub Daddy is the best

  • Does anyone know how to get rid of Blu Tack on the wall?

    • +1

      Flamethrower. Think Sigourney Weaver.

    • +1

      put white tack over it

  • Got 4 to try, thanks OP

  • The cheap ones i buy when half price for $2 for 3pk, each sponge lasts me about a month.

Hopefully this will atleast 3 months to make it worth the money.

  • The K-Mart dupe, one each equivalent of the mommy and daddy are very good and I think $4 for a packet.

    • Thanks, I got the dishmatic flower from colesworth, was alright but still haven't tried a mummy equivalent.

  • This will never work

  • Anyone done a comparison vs euroscrubby?

  • The Reject Shop has 3-pack Scrub Daddy and Scrub Mommy for $14 (on sale for $12 or half price quite often)

  • +3

I prefer the sponge one (https://amzn.asia/d/02Erj6fa)
    Comes 4 in a pack, $6.35

    • This right here is the real bargain for me.

  • How does it compare to the blue 3M ones?

    • These are yellow…
