and hunters, perfect for cleaning rifle scopes that get dusty very quickly when riding around on a quad or side by side,
I bought these on a crazy prime deal for $11.30 in 2020.
Just counted and have 30 left, however, might not restock as I've found the wipes to shed little fibers.Although they remove smudges and marks from lenses and screens, you then need to dust off with something else.
Same experience - they're too dry. I now use & prefer ClearWipe. Can currently get for roughly the same price as these. I only use on optical glasses.
I agree, I bought them one time, never again.
Feel precisely the same way. They are just awful. So dry.
Thanks Gav, I'll give them a try. Prime offer on the 60 pack of Clearwipe
Where can you get them the same price? Seeing 20c on Amazon
My experience has been the reverse, Clear Wipes much drier with some packets completely dried out and useless.
Yep, that's what I've found. Clear Wipes were dry and didn't clean as well as the Zeiss ones.
Yes, the Zeiss ones do leave fibres (although from memory, so did Clear Wipes) once you've wiped and wiped and wiped. So you just wipe and wipe. They cleaned better for me. And with a reasonable deal, are cheaper. Win.
same, not getting more.
I've found the wipes to shed little fibers.
Damn straight. I need to use my portable Xiaomi vacuum cleaner afterwards.
They leave fibres if you snag them on the frames (typically the hinge bit). Avoid that, I havent found any traces.
I like Aldi's PowerForce lens cleaning wipes 200 pack. Nothing left behind on my eye glasses or phone screen.
Aldi ones are there opposite of dry. Almost too moist sometimes. Price is good though.
Thanks! My 50 pack was running out.
And the discount is a real discount (I paid $28 a few weeks ago)
For some reason when I bought the 50 pack x4 was cheaper than 200 pack. $5.40 per 50.
This deal is even better per wipe.
pretty good lens wipes from reject shop for $2 for 25 (think it's 25)
Anyone tried the KFC wipes? Still have plenty of them around.
I’m sure they leave marks. Don’t do that!
They probably damage optical lens coatings
I’ve just been using a micro fibre cloth for years. A dedicated one for camera lens, another for glasses, cleaned regularly. Are these any better?
If you are happy with microfibre, continue the same.No need to buy these or may be try some small packs.
Thanks for the response. Happy with the microfibre so will continue, just thought maybe theres a downside and reason these are better for lenses.
Some wipes have a special chemical that helps stop finger prints/removes smudges from finger-grease.
These are good!
These are quality wipes. Really good results on my glasses, and they're good for camera lenses too. Recommended.
Are these better than the horrible Aldi "Power Force" Lens Cleaning Wipes?
Yes, As I am using Aldi wipes for a few months and will throw it to bin once I get these ones.
What's wrong with the Aldi wipes? They seem fine to me.
Pretty good for cleaning glasses. I have a box on my desktop and use it everyday.
Highly recommend don't use Clear wipes, as I've seen dozens of my patients' lenses get ruined by these wipes. (Directions on pack even say "don't use these wipes on scratched lenses)
Source - experienced independent optometristWhich wipes do you recommend?
there is nothing with alcohol in them that is really safe for regular use. It's simply to harsh for the delicate coatings on most lenses, even the "best" brand name lenses.
the "clear" wipes just smear a film on glasses - terrible product
Yeah, I've bought some brand (yellow packet, forget the name) that smells very strongly of alcohol, so I'm sure they're no good for lens coatings.
These Zeiss ones don't smell like alcohol at all; I'm assuming Zeiss aren't going to sell a cleaning product that damages their lenses.
The Zeiss ones do contain alcohol
Thanks OP!
The Mrs swears by them, Got some for her birthday instead of flowers.
The Zeiss ones are good but Im sure my local National pharmacies sells packs of 50 for around the $5 mark
15x13cm size looks a bit bigger than another brand I bought which was too damn fiddly and small - when you gotta spend 30 seconds unfolding the tiny tissue multiple times to full size
but - others say too dry - the label says don't use it when dry
and - microfine tissue - doesn't say what material - ima guess plastic - perfect for being swallowed by sea creatures, clogging their gut so they then starve to death ?
my current spectacles cleaning technique is - spray some dish detergent on both sides of both lenses (from my diluted about 1:10 in water in an empty spray bottle - one spray for a dish or mug quick clean), rub between my fingers, rinse under the cold tap, then use two squares of toilet paper to fold over the lenses and dab dry (without rubbing with may eventually scratch) - and job done.
I use the same technique. Sometimes I put it to the ultrasonic cleaner after applying detergent. Works well.
Also facial tissues leave less 'lint' when dabbing.
Bought both Zeiss and Clearwipe (recommended in this deal's comments).
Zeiss : more moist, smoother, bigger.
Clearwipe : quite dry.
I prefer Zeiss.
Perfect for photographers, too! I use these on lenses and camera bodies.
