PreSonus Revelator io44/io24 USB-C Audio Interface $99 (RRP $249/$299) + $5 Delivery ($0 with $100 Order) @ Mannys Music

530

Pretty wild price for these high quality PreSonus audio interfaces. Currently own an older PreSonus 68 interface and it works super well. Very well known brand with quality preamps and relatively high gain (60db) in comparison to other brands like Focusrite (56db). Adding this to my collection as a small, portable, USB powered interface, but unfortunately not enough gain to fully replace my old interface (80db) and smoothly run my SM7b. Apparently also useful for streamers but I haven't looked into these features.

That is insane value for the price. I have a bunch of Presonus stuff including a Quantum 2626 and the IOStation 24c that I just use as a faderport. It's all really good gear, no complaints at all. Worth buying for the plugin bundle alone at $99 bucks.

Yeah, the price is insane. Super happy with my io44.

  • Just trying to wrap my head around its use, hoping you can tell me if I'm understanding this correctly…

My 2 kids are quite musically talented. If they wanted to record vocals or guitar/piano/something with an output that can connect to this, this would interface between the PC (Ipad too?) and their instrument/microphone?

Currently we don't have anything more than an Ipad and Garage Band plus phones.

Is this a good bang for buck option or is there a better way? At this stage it would just be recording their performance at home

    Thanks for your input/advice!

If you have a microphone with an XLR input (most good microphones), you need an audio interface to connect it to a computer for recording. If you have a USB microphone, then an audio interface is not required. This will be useful for recording with XLR microphones and guitars, but for a piano you are probably better off plugging in directly with USB and recording MIDI. If you need an interface, this is a very cheap price for a good quality brand.

You'd just end up with MIDI data though; if you just want to record the piano's audio and not have to bother with having the same samples on a desktop, this can record the piano's audio output fine.

io24 for instrument & vocal at once. Will only do 2 separate balanced inputs at once though. You'd need to go up to a larger, more expensive device for both playing and singing at once.

The io44 is more for steamers/gamers but has a single balanced input. You could go for another mic with a DI box and push it out into the line input of the io44 too. You'd almost need a smaller mixer for that and at that point you'd just use the mixer for everything.

  • Can I use them somehow to connect edifier speakers to a pc?

    • What's wrong with connecting directly?

    • Technically probably, but this isn't designed for that. Depending on which speakers you have, you either just need an adapter, or you need an amp, or dac/amp.

      • My bad. Didn't read enough. Thought this is an amp/dac

        • It is a DAC & Amp. It's similar to a Schitt Hel, but with balanced 6.5mm outputs instead of 3.5mm TRS (aka mini headphone) line out. You just add an extra Balanced input plus you can set the headset & balanced input on the device (and through the software).

I had a bad ground loop causing noise between the PC, Hel and new Eris Studio 5 studio monitor speakers. Replaced my Hel with this and since it is balanced output, the group loop went away. My monitors are very happy now (and bloody loud!).

I like that it is 3.5mm TRRS for headsets, but your can independently control the speakers and the headset volume with this. It's not quite as simple as the Hel but much better.

I got it at this price last month, the 44 is a steal for gamers/streamers who would like the option of a better mic with XLR input but can also use a gaming headset (PC38x work awesome), plus really good speakers like the Eris Studios (or JBL/KRK/Yamaha). 100% recommended.

The 24 is more for those that already have separate XLR mic and happy to trade the headset input for another balanced input (mic for a podcast, or instrument input).

  • which one would be better for recording guitar?

    • They're basically the same I think. After looking into it, the trade off seems to be size vs inputs. Do you need more than one thing plugged in at a time? I picked the smaller io44 since I knew I don't need more than one input at a time.

    • If you want a mic to sing while playing, the 24.

If just recording an instrument, the 44 is great and you can game with it as well.

    • Get the twin input.

That second input can be used to double-mic the single instrument in different places, another instrument, or for vocals.

  • Hi OP,
can you connect guitar input to this ?

    • Yes you should be able to as it just has a regular line input. But definitely check for your own instrument.

    • yes

Can I use this for Teams meetings?

If you have an XLR mic that you want to connect to a computer, then yes it should work with this

    • Unnecessary hardware for web meetings

But I want that crystal clear voice when doing tech support

        • Plenty of great studio mics with a USB output now (Hell, many have XLR + USB).

  • Also have some good deals on PreSonus USB C mics down to $99 from $300 or so.

    • Added to post :)

    • What's the difference between the Revelator Dynamic and Revelator Pro? They seem very similar. The latter has different pickup patterns and looks like it could be a condenser. Apart from that I wonder which one is "better" (I know, I know, it's subjective…).

  • Not knocking on this, but as a fairly simple / budget solution with high gain I went with the Elgato Wave XLR (listed as 75dB) to run a SM7B and haven't had any issues.

It's nice to see Manny's have an actual special price on something with a sale marking on it. Usually it's just the price they had 3 months ago.

  • I have hifi amp for my headphones but when I use my mic phone in discord I wish I can monitor my voice so I know how loud I am speaking. Is there a way to do this ? Essentially need to combine the monitor output from an audio interface like this one with the hifi amp output while not losing audio quality . I have yet to see a solution

    • You need an analogue mixer, then you make each channel as loud/soft as you want.

    • You want a DAC/Amp that does 'sidetone' or 'passthrough', in that it mixes your mic into the headphones.

The answer will depend on what headphones & microphone you have, and what the rest of your setup looks like. If you are just using a headset, then almost any of the 'gaming' DAC amps will have it (EPOS GSX300/1000, Creative X3/X4/X5 etc). The Schitt Hel does not have this.

If you have high-end headphones then you might be out of luck since you want something with a bit of oomph.

  • Can I use the Audio output from this into Sonos Audio. I have a Premium Immersive Set with Arc from Sonos and realised it after buying that you can't play music from Android in Sonos and it is pretty much locked to IOS.

I need to set up a Karoake and have a USB and XLR microphone, which I could pair with PreSonus Revelator io44. But I want this to play on my Sonos Arc,

  • io24 is OOS :(

    Thanks OP.
I just missed it on the io24 which is now out of stock as I was being to greedy trying to find a coupon.

I ended up buying the io44 with $2 tape to get free delivery

Seems like there's only 6 units left of the io44 for others sitting on the fence.

other sites are price matching - same happened to me, but after a quick google I got the io24 for $99 (+$10 ship) from here

      • Already sold out

  • io24 was in stock at StoreDJ a few minutes ago still

io44 out of stock but seems available to backorder at same price. Probably should have waited for my click and collect to be ready before posting 😄

  • Hope Focusrite have this kind of discount that I can buy a extra

  • The Revelator microphones are USB-C ?

  • How many analogue output channels does each of these have?

    • 2

LR Stereo or maybe you could have two monos with some setting changes.

You can open the link and look at the unit

Dang, missed the io24 stock, any other stores price matching?

  • I found same model cheaper on Catch and eBay (if you have some eBay Plus code)

    • For me catch is showing $299 for the 24

  • Thats a shockingly low price. Spewing missed out on the 24. Then again i have too many sound toys as it is. So … consoling myself with the rationalisation that all my older gear does the same things, although its several devices hooked together vs this all in one.

    • Spewing missed out on the 24. Then again i have too many sound toys as it is.

Eh, you can just get one from Amazon or import for like $170 shipped if you particularly still wanted one right now, good for a first interface at $100 new compared to others at the price point, but in the sub $300 range it wouldn't be one of my top choices. tl;dr don't feel too bad, it's not much money in the context of audio, plus now you have an excuse to get yourself something better on your own terms, lol.
