  • Is it better than provided by Telstra

    • +3

      I would assume so.
I use one of these for a 2 storey 4 bedroom steel frame home and it covers it well.
I originally had a 3-pack but the extras were unnecessary.

      • do you still get good signal outside the house?

I have security cameras at the boundary of a 450 sqm lot and I'm not sure how many of this units to buy…

Same when apple introduces usb c charging many are like omg so cool!…. and next the same when ifold and iflip

Even better when Amazon decides roll out an update that removes features when they decide to stop supporting it.

  • This or Ubiquiti? Currently using Pro 6+ from Eero. For some reason still have random disconnects and slowdowns from time to time. Already using wired backhaul..

    • ubiquiti is commercial grade..it just works. if only they had triband with wireless back haul 3yrs ago when I needed it.

Sadly the eero triband is relatively new in Oz market.

Hi guys. I'm using an Optus sponsored router. Will this improve the internet speed. My plan is 100/20 NBN FTTP.

    • +16

about as much as saying I need to get to work quicker, but there's traffic jams, should I trade my Hyundai in for a Lamborghini?

      • +2

Decided not to pull the trigger ;)

    • No

  • +1

This vs TP LINK Deco M9 ?

    • +2

M9+ is not well supported from firmware perspective. Their mainstream M5 gets more frequent updates and features. I consider it near end of life now so would not purchase.
Source: have 2 M9+ units, now wish I got the M5 but thought I got a bargain at the time.

    • the deco configuration is super limited that it's annoying me. I miss unifi and asus tbh.

  • +1

I have eero 6(provided by superloop). Will the pro 6 work with the 6 to provide a mesh.

    Cannot hard wire.

    • +1

the pro has to be the centre, and the regular 6 will be satellite(s)

      • Thanks. Will buy it as soon as a cash back deal is available

  • +3

Have one and it just works. App is great. You can disable certain devices using the all easily.

Nightly network speed test also handy, if you have any speed issue just send screenshot in the past 7 days straight to your ISP. If your internet is down, it can use your phone’s wifi hotpot as internet source as well.

    Highly recommend 👍

The Amazon Eero Pro 6E is more expensive but the item people are probably want to buy.

Let’s see if they drop the price on the Eero Pro 6E on the 16/7

It already had Early Prime Day Deal and dropped the price to AUD$334.99

However the 6 and the 6E, I don’t know many people who have them. People who had the Wifi 5 version said there wasn’t enough granular control on the router. I guess it depends on your needs.

  • I have 3 Eero 6+ in my home. One plugged in to my NBN modem and then 2 elsewhere in the house connected to the main one through Ethernet backhaul.

I need to add at least one more to improve coverage in my home. Does anyone know if there would be any benefit to upgrading the ‘main’ Eero 6+ to an Eero Pro 6?

This is my mesh wifi tier list, hopefully someone finds it useful.

Note that any tri-band wifi 6E mesh systems will need to be closer together if using wireless backhaul as the 6Ghz band they use for backhaul has shorter range (but is faster). This is less of an issue in wifi 6 units as they use a dedicated secondary 5Ghz band and wifi 7 units have a stronger 6Ghz band than 6E.

Personally I would go for wifi 7 or strong wifi 6 units, as 6E feels like a bit of a stop gap to me, but is usually fine if you get a 3 pack and the nodes aren’t too far from each other.

Also note that Deco/Eero have the smoothest software algorithm in terms of devices picking and switching between nodes.

ASUS Zenwifi BQ16 Pro (really hard to get as just released) (quadband wifi7)
Deco BE65 (triband wifi7, don’t consider the higher end BE85 or BE95 as they have fans in the units)
Asus Zenwifi XT12 (triband wifi 6)
    Deco XE75 / Eero pro 6E (triband wifi 6E)
    Deco X75/X68 / Eero pro 6 (triband wifi 6)
You can’t really go wrong with any of the above, all are tri-band or better and suitable for wireless backhaul configs. Just ensure if going with 6E that you may need a 3 pack instead of a 2 pack due to shorter backhaul range.

If you are planning to wire the units in for backhaul with Ethernet then you can go for dual band mesh systems and save $. Note that there will be no dedicated 6Ghz band for your 6E/7 devices though. E.g. Deco X80/X60/X50/X20 or eero 6+/6 (dual band 6)

    • Thanks for the write up.

I have noted elsewhere some people having lots of issues with the 2.4 on the Eero’s, is this still a thing? I have a fair bit of Tuya stuff on 2.4

      • Depends more on the other product you're trying to connect than the Eero.
I have several 2.4GHz products that connected no problem, and just a couple where I've had to go into settings to pause 5GHz or switch to Legacy mode.
Once connected the first time, I've never had another issue.

Be careful buying multi-packs for TP-Link Decos. I've had one unit from a three pack of X68s go tits up after just under 2 years and TP-Link informs me that I have to send ALL 3 back as a set to the retailer of purchase, with a turn around time of 2-3 weeks (meaning no wireless in the house for 2-3 weeks). TP-Link said that neither the retailer nor TP-Link RMA-AU are allowed to issue single units to replace a faulty unit from a kit.

      • It really depends on your retailer I’d imagine. If TP link have given you an approved RMA number, a retailer should have no issue to hand you a brand new pack on the spot if you bring in your faulty ones,

        • True. My issue is I bought online from an eastern states retailer and I'm over in WA, therefore I have to mail the whole set back and wait for the new set. It's a real PITA that TP-Link won't allow the swap of the single faulty Deco.

          • @OverlyWittyUsername: Yes I’m surprised. Maybe some quirk with the retailer. Usually I would’ve though tp link would send a replacement unit

            • @evasive: Yeah, I thought it might be the retailer as well, but TP-Link Support confirmed that as it was purchased as a set the whole set needs to go back. Really, if you're buying a set of 3, it's most likely this is your only method for wireless network access and having to send all 3 back is a major inconvenience (especially as I WFH).

    • Eero Mesh or Asus AiMesh?
      Im planning Ax86Pro ans 2 XT8s
But also like set up simplicity

      • ASUS better hardware

        Eero more simple. Which eero?

        • This pro 6 one

          • @0806449: Will your XT8’s be wired?

            • @evasive: Only 1 will be able to
And XT 8 at $699 Prime Day is tempting me ti pull the trigger.
Dont kow the differences in Version 1 and Version 2. Some say the SoC but cant tell on Amazon listing

              • +1

@0806449: XT12 was recently like $950 ish on sale on Amazon. You could just get two of those and ditch the AX86u purchase unless you already have one

                • @evasive: Downstairs is Full brick 2 storey house over 120m2 plus hoping for garden coverage plis garage

                  modem is upstairs

                  • +1

@0806449: Buy during Amazon deals, test them all, return what u don’t want I guess

  • We are moving to a 2 storey house and with an FTTP connection (100mb/20 possibly for now). Would this be enough? I'm thinking of getting a 3pack but can't decide. Or should I get a tp link deco XE75 or the X50?

    • +1

Depending on the size of house… We're a 45 square double storey, and the 3 cover it perfectly.
You could probably get away with just the 2, but we have one at the very front that also covers yard, one in middle of the house, and one at back that covers the backyard and pool area too.
(Obviously don't buy the 3 pack listed as it's not currently on special, just purchase 3 individual ones… which works out pretty much to the $500 I paid 2 years ago.)

  • Purchased a Pro6 3 pack on Prime Day 2 years ago… and has not missed a beat since.
I have one connected to Optus modem in office at the front of house, another half way through the house, and another in the back room.
All 3 are downstairs and cover the whole house easily. In fact, they easily cover my entire 1200m2 block, from the letterbox to the pool and shed up back.
And between ours and the kid's phones, Echoes, TVs, computers, lights, and wireless cameras, there has to be on average of 20-25+ devices constantly connected.
Only tiny concern is that they can get a little warm at times, so suggest being careful what you place them on or putting some rubber feet underneath to breathe a little better.

  • I've got the regular 6 dual-band 3 pack, wifi is still a bit rubbish but much better than it was before I got it. Cheers, will pick one of these up and put it into the mesh to fix up the rubbish area.

  • I got a 6+ from the Superloop sign up deal and need to add 1 maybe 2 satellites for my house (two-storey 250m2)

Should I get this or go the 6+ 3-pack?

    • 3 pack is still at $900.
And for your size residence, 2 (1 more) should be more than enough coverage.

      • Thanks for the reply. I meant should I mix my 6+ with a 6 Pro (this deal) or get the 6+ 3-pack deal (and have 4 in total while maybe only needing 3). Two out of three would be on wired backhaul

  • Can someone tell me what this is good for? For those with larger homes with dead spots? For those who need screaming wifi speeds in every room?

I've just been using one wireless router and one wifi extender at the far end of the house and everything has been smooth sailing so far. Single level home 3 bedroom, not large.

  • Can I just buy 3 of these instead of a 3 pack as the price for 3 pack is $900? Is there a dedicated router and nodes or can any one be used as a main router and other as satellites?

    • Yep, same units. You just set one up as the gateway.

    • as a good ozbargain member I'll wait until the 3-pack reaches its best price of $499 and miss this opportunity to buy it now because I don't want to 'waste' $26.

That means I will end up not buying any of them and save even more, that way I can keep complaining about my nbn connection while my 8 years old WiFi router is congested with the many dozen devices I have connected in my home. Win /s

But being serious, I think I need only 2 but I'm torn because I think that the 3-pack will actually come down around November like last year (black friday). I hope I don't regret it by not buying now.

      • From some US reviews the pro is now superceded and I can't even find it on the US Amazon yesterday.mighe be the last we see if this pro model

  • Does this still need a router to connect to NBN modem?

  • i have a landline phone how should i go about keeping the phone running and with an eero router. should I keep old router as well
