  • This brand was caught lying about SPF50+ in the past (not SPF50+). I never use this brand anyway.

    • Sunscreen is monitored and tested by the TGA. It's impossible to get around the requirements or lie about it.

I read from other news about this brand lying years ago. If I remember correctly, the company paid fine …

        Also bad news last year:

Third recall because of cancer risk??? Can we trust the company behind this brand?

The TGA disagrees with whoever made those lab tests, it's in the article.

They continued: 'These results are entirely inconsistent with the testing we have conducted at Edgewell's reputable labs in accordance with the Australian mandatory standard as regulated by the TGA.

'All Banana Boat products meet the SPF claim as labelled on pack.

'To further support this, the TGA has recently undertaken independent testing, which included Banana Boat Ultra Very High Protection Clear Spray SPF50+ sunscreen, and found that all products tested contained the correct levels of active ingredients as specified on their labelling and complied with the Australian regulatory guidelines for sunscreens.'

There's no mention of a fine anywhere that Google served me.

I do have to wonder why they weren't naming the other 78 sunscreens in the list about the recall. Banana Boat was not the worst by far, just the headline for that article.

The lesson here is don't use spray on sunscreen though from any brand, it's easy to mistakenly think you've applied enough, and very commonly contains toxic chemicals.

And read all the article, not just the headline and first paragraph.

@illogicalerror: Not that I really care, not my sunscreen not my monkeys, but I hate social media assassinations and media manipulations.

We don't see people "just asking" if we can trust companies like Toyota, Ford, Hasbro, Johnson&Johnson and Bridgestone when these companies have all had multiple recalls resulting in many deaths when they knew about the issues beforehand.
