Can get it for $1887 from The Good Guys using their “price check” feature on the website

    That's a great feature

Was just $1529 on 12 June

If you must buy a breville, get a dual boiler and a far superior grinder for the same price

    • +2

Recommend the DF54 with the dual boiler. Love mine.

Oracle is basically a dual boiler with extra bits attached

  • Does this have a single heat block meaning can’t extract froth at the same time??

    • No it can extract and froth at the same time.

      • -3

We have this machine at work and when I turn the milk frother on while it's extracting, it stops extracting.

I would have thought this was why it has two boilers, so I was surprised when I couldn't get them to go at the same time?

        • +2

Sounds like your work one is different model.

It's been the same price for a few weeks now at Myer…

  • Any recommendations on upgrading the portafilter on this one?

    • +2

Just get a 58mm bottomless portafilter made for Breville. I think Breville's 58mm has a proprietary portafilter.

    • +1

Stock PF is fine, unless you want a bottomless.

      Aftermarket baskets should fit though.

      I’ve got a Pescado PF & baskets.

      • I read Breviile got different lugs so generic E61 PF won't work.
Pseudo makes Breville specific PF, I believe this is what you've got.

I saw Breville specific PF on Ali Express. Can't tell how good they are.

I am using Breviile naked PF - works Ok except the handle is no longer smooth and shiny after a couple of years.

I think this model will be updated/upgraded soon. Breville has started to upgrade its coffee machines. Lower ends and mode tier got the updates already.

This is my 2 cents anyway.

    • Yeah I think they announced the possible replacement for this which is the Oracle Jet at SCA Chicago back in April. https://youtu.be/5DMY-s1irWA?si=4xliRzGsfE0omgNS

Breville Australia recently released the promo for it here: https://youtu.be/awCvGJvV7yo?si=Axg1Lh6mOIREYDJl

Looks like it may not be cheap though. Plus they have got rid of the duel boiler setup and you can't extract and texture milk at the same time.

      • Oracle Jet is already on AU website for $3699

        https://www.breville.com/au/en/products/espresso/bes985.html…

        • Cheers. Yeah. Looks like all the majors have it now here. The original oracle is pretty good although can be slightly inconsistent with the pours plus the seals for the boiler need replacing every year or 2.

@DrLobster: Very similar to Barista Touch™ Impress which comes with the new thermo jet and bratza grinder (Oracle Jet has 45 grinding settings where Barista Touch has 30), auto milkq, new temping (tho Barista Touch is manual press with guidance). Barista touch is $1700 cheaper on RRP.

          • +1

@DrLobster: New Oracles & dual boilers use different
seals now, so that problem should be solved.

          • @DrLobster: Had my Oracle over 7 years ago with zero problems - no seal replacements.

Just be aware that some models are suffering from sensor issues (error code ER05).

We had to replace the sensor twice by now.

Biggest problem with the ER05 error code is that you can't use the entire machine unless fixed - even though the error only impacts the heating sensor for the milk frother they didn't isolate that error from all other functions of the machine. Huge flaw for many reason!

If there are newer models coming out, I would definitely wait for those.

    • My machine had an issue with tamping. Sent it back 2 times for repair, still had issues. Then was asked to send back to retailer to get a new one. The new machine also had the same issue. I got a full refund back. Also very skeptical that the black version of the Oracle is cheaper than the steel by a few hundred dollars.
