Do we know if we need to continue past 28 days to get cashback or is it ok to only finish for 28 days

    • +3

You just need to activate within 20 days. So once you've done that just turn off auto-renewal.

    • +1

      Usually no.

  • +3

i had 3 mobile purchases tracked by TopCashBack to only be declined after waiting a month, unreliable and won't bother with them again.

    • +9

Mine doesn’t even get tracked. I gave up

      • +1

yeah, i emailed them they said its been declined and there is nothing they can do about it. Load of shit company.

        • +3

@cheapskatehaggler Hi. I'm quite sure you're referring to the Boost promo we ran on Feb 27 as it's the only telco we've had to decline multiple cashbacks. If so, the reason is stated in my comment here and would also have been communicated to you in your ticket re Telstra enforcing the requirement to activate within 30 days. If I have the correct promo, why is TCB to blame and why are they a 'shit' company if the requirement is clearly stated in the terms? Happy to stand corrected though.

          • @tightarse: yep everything was done as per instructions yet it was declined and there was nothing you guys can do about it. Totally unhelpful.

            • +5

              @cheapskatehaggler:

yep everything was done as per instructions

That's incorrect (see here). The instructions were that you must activate within 30 days. You didn't, so Telstra declined commission.

yet it was declined and there was nothing you guys can do about it. Totally unhelpful.

Unfortunately TopCashback can't help or take responsibility if the SIMs weren't activated within 30 days per the T&Cs, and I believe we've been more than helpful in explaining.

            • +3

@cheapskatehaggler: I bought 4 sims and I received $140. All activated as soon I got them.

      • +1

Good support with TCB if it doesn't get tracked. You just have to make sure it's your last click (ie. you don't click via cashrewards/shopback) if you want to gain cashback via TopCashBack. Also make sure to disable ad-block because that may be an issue.

If you've done all the steps, and it's yet to track, contact TA or lodge a missing cashback claim, I'm sure TA or the CS team on TCB would be more than happy to help you out with proof of purchase (ie. invoice).

    • Wow, that's bad. Leaving you out of pocket for the sim cards. I'm thinking to stick with CR exclusively. Seems like this mob won't be around long.

      • +6

Two sides to every story re being left out of pocket. I'm willing to bet he's referring to Boost and he didn't activate the SIMs, but happy to stand corrected if he responds. Further, why do you believe they won't be around for long lol? After 19 years, they're the biggest cashback site in the UK by a distance, and slowly making their mark in AU :)

        • -6

You make it sound as though i was an isolated case, however, clearly i was not the only one that was affected.

          • +7

@cheapskatehaggler: Hi again. Not once have I said or insinuated that you were the only one affected, but please don't expect to receive cashback if the terms of the deal are broken.

It would have been a lot fairer if your original comment stated the facts for transparency rather than making a blanket statement. All the same, I'm truly sorry you had this bad experience, but the terms were clear. Thanks.

          • @cheapskatehaggler: Negg me all you want for voicing out my experience with this mob. Even after explaining that I followed the instructions to the T, still making it sound as though I am an isolated case.

            • +4

@cheapskatehaggler: So did you activate your SIM card within 30 days or not? If you didn’t then you didn’t really “follow instructions to the T”.

              • @xers: yes they were. this is exactly what i meant, trying to make me sound like an isolated case / didnt follow instructions.

                • +1

@cheapskatehaggler: Sorry to hear. May I please suggest you DM the rep @tightarse to sort this out? It would be more constructive as it hasn't been clear what has happened with Boost/Telstra's rejection. It has been confusing and upsetting reading your comments and calling TopCashback a 'shit' company.

If you have activated the 3 Boost SIM purchases within 30 days, then you would have received email of the activation with the new phone numbers. If you can prove to Boost/Telstra the dates of the activation, then you would most likely be successful in getting your cashbacks. You won't get cashback by saying "everything was done as per instructions" as Boost/Telstra will need the proof.

                  Good luck!

              @cheapskatehaggler:

still making it sound as though I am an isolated case.

Mate, are you having some comprehension problems? Let me help you out with a translation/clarification. The statement from TA is: "You did not follow the terms"

That is not synonymous with "you are an anomaly because no one else is complaining and it's your problem"

As for "I followed the instructions to the T", that's your words against his and I'm not getting involved. All I'm saying is, he did not say that you are an isolated case…

In response to your claim below that you DID activate your SIM within 30 days, why don't you show proof of that to TCB? If you can do so, I don't see why you should be denied cashback.

          • +1

@cheapskatehaggler: Your responses here clearly shows you don’t know how to read. 😂 not surprised none of your purchases got tracked.

        • One of the biggest in the US too if not the biggest. Anyway 2 questions for TA before I take a chance on this as both shopback and cashrewards cashback hasn't worked for amaysim for me recently.

          1. Does adding a new service to an existing account work? (Doesn't even say its only for new customers in the terms)

          2. When does this expire?

          • +1

            @sub102:

both shopback and cashrewards cashback hasn't worked for amaysim for me recently

            @sub102: Full details pls: what Amaysim-choices did you make: new-customer, new-email, new-mobile# etc ?

If these choices were different for ShopBack & CashRewards, pls provide details, thanks.

            • @ab c: Not sure what you mean by choices? Don't think it matters anyway as terms only mention that recharges to existing services are ineligible

              • @sub102:

both shopback and cashrewards cashback hasn't worked for amaysim for me recently

When you signed-up to buy Amaysim-sim, did you select NEW-customer, provided NEW-email address, provided NEW-phone# etc ? What action did you take that caused failed money-back claims?

ShopBack criteria: 'Cashback is only applicable for customers getting a New Service (SIM) & New Sign Ups (New Customers)'
CashRewards criteria: 'Eligible for new & existing amaysim customers on purchase of a new service (SIM)' & 'Tips to get cashback…Read store special terms'

                • @ab c: I should have got cashback in both instances as I got a 'new service'. I added a new service to my existing email address. Got a new phone number.

Now I have not received cashback yet from TopCashback

It could be all down to the verification process where Amaysim sends you a link via email/text but that's Topcashback's problem to sort out with Amaysim

      • Legendarily reliable rep @tightarse has joined TopCashback now. I would wager they are not going anywhere other than up while he is on board.

    • +1

As @tightarse has asked, could you please confirm if you had activated the SIM(s) within 30 days of purchase or you waited 30 days before activating the SIM(s). Not super clear from your comment.

Just trying to figure out as I'm about to buy two SIMs.

      • I bought 4 sim via TopCashback and I received $35 for each sim.

        • For this deal?

          • @Zapwap: For the boost deal. This one will be $30 per sim.

    • +1

If you were referring to Boost, I didn’t activate mine and all were rejected. So I can confirm that I didn’t follow the T&Cs of activating (it was a good run while it lasted). At least please have some clarity when you comment and mention Boost deal if that’s what you were referring about

I’ve never had a problem for amaysim on either ShopBack or Cashrewards. Haven’t had my first purchase for amaysim via TopCashback yet so can’t comment on this aspect

      • I’ve never had a problem for amaysim on either ShopBack or Cashrewards

Full details pls: what Amaysim-choices did you make: new-customer, new-email, new-mobile# etc ?

If these choices were different for ShopBack & CashRewards, pls provide details, thanks.

        • Not a new customer - I’ve an existing amaysim account back in the day so that would also answer your second point

I’ve done both porting over one of my other numbers and also have done as new mobile number

ShopBack - it’s always been new mobile numbers
CR - have done both porting and new numbers

          • @BargainsGrabber: Thanks.

OzBarainers money-back success has been mixed with Amaysim.

            'what Amaysim-choices did you make: new-customer, new-email, new-mobile# etc ' -> https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/15342183/redir

You're saying that you have purchased Amaysim via money-back offers, chosen EXISTING-customer during sign-up (eg via CashRewards) & NEVER had money-back rejection: is this correct ? Thanks.

            • @ab c: Yes, once I open the cashback apps and access amaysim, I login to my account at checkout

              • @BargainsGrabber: Thanks.

                Strange:may be Amaysim don't enforce ?
ShopBack-Amaysim: 'Special notes from store….Cashback is only applicable for customers getting a New Service (SIM) & New Sign Ups (New Customers).'
                https://www.shopback.com.au/amaysim-mobile

                Why some-OzBargainers have mixed money-back experience with Amaysim: your thoughts…other-than tracking-errors & 20/30 days activation criteria. Thanks-again.

                • +1

@ab c: I have purchased about 16 sims with amaysim across CR and TCB, all on one account, selected existing customer each time. All have been tracked, majority of have been approved and withdrawn.

"New customers" just mean you're not recharging an existing amaysim number.

                  • -1

                    @xers: Thanks & interesting to see different users applying different Amaysim-sign-on processes/technique & got money-back success 👍

Novice must be failing-elsewhere in their money-back processes & their circumstances are often-silent, varied & wide, eg cheapskatehaggler ?

  • Buy or hold?

    • +1

      hodl imo

    • Depends if you need the sim for data, signups for free stuff etc.

if you don't need the mobile number/sim data, I'd suggest you hold for profit for more benefits.

  • Do you get a number that can receive calls and texts with data-only SIMs?

    • +1

Correct. That's how most data only SIMs work. A mobile service with no call + text inclusions, data only, but can still receive incoming calls + texts.

      • So how do call and text you without you getting a number

    • +4

Yeah, automatically applied promo codes are valid for cashback. This was cleared up by tightarse in a comment.

    • +2

No issue at all re an auto-applied code with amaysim. Thanks.

      • @tightarse I made a purchase last night and haven't received the tracking for it yet. Then purchased another one this morning which tracked successfully. Would you be able to look into the missing cashback?

        • PM me your TCB email address and a screenshot of your invoice tomorrow and I’ll see what I can find out. Thanks :)

    • +1

Why is it dodgy? I'd love for every single site I visit to automatically apply a voucher to my orders!

  • I have been having my Sim cards activated before they are shipped. I'm in regional WA and it takes 12 days for the cards to arrive from NSW.

Live chat is happy to reset the validity of the Sim cards but it's a massive hassle trying to contact them everytime I order a new card.

    Anyone has similar issues?

    • +6

They'll reset automatically when put in a device, may take around 24hrs to reset/update.

    • +1

After you receive, activate then insert your sim, when you first connect to the Amaysim nextwork it will trigger their system to reset your sim's activated date to when the sim was first connected. You will receive a SMS from them saying "Hi <name>, we noticed you've only just started using your amaysim SIM, so we've restarted your plan date so you get the most out of your plan." Takes around 24 hrs for the update to come through.

      • Nope. Got the message but didn't work automatically for me. I wasn't paying attention and lost 12 days worth for 2 Sim cards.

        • Reach out on live chat then, I think they can assist

        • I get the opposite - expiry date is reset without SMS notification.

Support should be able to manually adjust it for you.

        • +1

kudo…users experience is likely different & we are a minority though.

Alinnia's comments is what should happen most-of-the-time.

Guess what, IT-system NEVER works 100%…tracking-error too.

  • Is esim eligible?

    • +1

      Yes

      • How do i use esim w my watch but my kphone at same time?

        • Same phone number as phone on watch?
Pretty sure thats limited to Optus, Tesltra and Voda and not avail with mnvo's, that may have changed by now though.
It also has a $5 monthly fee.

  • +2

i might wait to see if CR counter offers!

  • The TopCashBack app is really bad on IOS.

If you use Face ID to get your password for Amaysim, the chance of screen (to your IOS managed passwords) kicks you out of the store page and back into the TopCashBack page and you have to start all over again.

  • Any recommendations on 4G portable WiFi modem to use this SIM with? Thanks

  • +2

Paid last night, tracked very easily, no issues.

Remember to activate and also disable auto-renewal unless you want to end up losing money!

    • Has it switched to payable status?
