    18feb - 11 Mar cheapest is 6351.

As far as business for 24 hours of travelling, this is probably the best pricing.

Great deal to Europe taking a less traditional stopover.

The service onboard any Japanese carrier can't be beaten.

From previous experience, the only other airline with comparable rates is Vietnam Airlines who you can sometimes find business class flights around the $5.5k mark.
The ANA lounge and airport experience is arguably much better than the Vietnam Airlines lounges in Ho Chi Minh or Hanoi, you can also earn Velocity points with ANA - something which you cannot with Vietnam. The layover times with ANA seem to be much better than with Vietnam too.

You cannot compare VN to ANA. They are huge different.

I flew them both, in both J and Y class. ANA is superb and VN is acceptable.

In term of price, ANA is good price.

For VN, I found MEL to CDG via SGN J Class for $4k6 sometimes

Return business syd to paris will net you 560 status credits with Velocity, enough for gold status (if you are red).

    • +6

Platinum for 1 if you do family pooling (if it is with a family member), since Virgin allows pooling of status credits as well as points.

Still have to meet the minimum number of flights on VA metal

      • While mostly true the sectors actually have to be VA coded, not neccesarily VA metal.

If you can afford a $6000 flight, why are you even on OzBargain?

    • +7

Somebody I know here making 270K per annum. And he still buys Boost sim card (profit couple dollars) for new number to sign up doordash, uber, menulogs etc…

      • +4

Exactly. I'm near the highest tax bracket but I want to retire as young as possible so I try to save on everything and maximise savings. I browse Ozbargain daily

If you can afford a $6000 flight, why are you even on OzBargain?

Because this is not OzPoorPeople, and being good with money is how you get rich. So it makes sense that wealthier people are probably more bargain oriented than poor people. You'll never be wealthy by paying full price for everything.

Remember a 'bargain' doesn't mean 'cheap' it means 'cheaper than normal' and applies at all wealth levels.

    • +8

If I'm on the top tax bracket and work gives me an extra $1k, I only ever see $630 of that.

If a bargain reduces the price of something by $1k, everyone will be saving $1k regardless of income level.

Ergo: Bargains will unify us all.

      • +3

You’re not on the top tax bracket if you’re paying 37% tax

If you can't afford a $6000 flight, why are you even commenting on this thread?

Similarly, if someone wants to pay $6000 for a flight, it means that it is a savings over the $8-12k it would normally cost.

    • +4

Those who can afford a $500k car would prefer to buy it at a bargain price of $400k. Those who can afford a $10M house would prefer to enter at a $7M fire sale. A bargain is a bargain. There are bargains at every price point.

    • In many cases, it's not far off what an economy flight to Europe costs at the moment.

$6k business class to Europe is a deal now? I remember it was around $4k standard 5 years ago. Before Covid, sure, but still. Surely travel demand has gone back to normal by now one would've thought…..
