Suggest that if you’re going to spend that much money for a 800w charger you take a look at Safiery’s “Scotty” range here instead: https://safiery.com/product-category/scotty/

They’ve got various models (1500w, 3000w) with the ability to wind it back depending on your battery and alternator setup.

It works with various voltages, is bidirectional, supports both CANBUS and non-CANBUS batteries, is configurable with various different parameters to suit each application. Incredibly impressive bit of kit from an Australian company based in QLD.

Not sure you’re using “free” or “excess” energy to charge using the alternator charging.

  The difference in fuel consumption would be minimal, but yes, not free. The bigger issue is that most alternators aren't going to be putting out an additional 70 amps or so, or even half that continuously. Of course with losses you'll likely need much more than that to charge at the full rate.

Looked at these, in particular the river series. The $/Wh is pretty high compared to competitor products.

As for the alternator charging. All well and good, but it's pretty expensive solution just to have something portable. If you are going to the trouble of hooking it up to the alternator, you might as well use cheaper 12v batteries and do the car setup and forfeit the portability. OR for that money you could get the car setup at about 2000Wh AND another portable 2000Wh portable battery and still come out with change.
