Would have been good if the handle can go flat..

      Agree
      That handle piss me off

    518Wh FYI

  • what would you normally run on this and what would be a reasonable run time?

obviously you would not be running microwaves or 32" tvs but maybe a laptop? and a router?

    • +2

Well if the power went out and you were very careful about not opening the fridge too much you could hook that up to this for about a day (depends on your fridge model).

It could run a Starlink Mini for about 20 hours. That's maybe two to three days while camping if you switch it off at night

It could do longer at both if you hook up to some solar panels

In the scheme of things it's not that much capacity but remember those that are are 10 or 20 kilos, this is still relatively portable

    • +1

you should be able to run a 32" LCD TV for up to 10 hours - they only use around 50w i.e. 518wh/50w less inverter efficiency!… 800w Microwave probably closer to 30mins!

    • a laptop - the proverbial piece of string - depends on power hungry it is - a high power gaming laptop running at full tilt - maybe a couple of hours, an energy efficient laptop like a macbook air doing "normal" things maybe a couple days

I didn't need this but the specific wording:

    Buy 1 get 2⭐Only $374 with JAN15OFF, $352 with JAN20OFF

No mention of a free power bank from what I see but that suggests 2 of these power stations for $352 with the jan20off code which is a great bargain - placed an order!

    • Look like they changes the promotion. I remember seeing powerbank in the product image as well. This is now a better deal (if it is true)

    • The free power bank offer is in their first promotional picture. But yeah, it seems like they've got a 2 for 1 deal happening. Not sure if that's a mistake or whether they will honour it. If they do end up honouring it, then it'll truly be a bargain!

    • I bought and have received shipping information. It does say 1 item so I'm not counting on there being two units but that would be an excellent result.

      • I reached out straight after ordering to confirm and they replied saying they would get back to me - I asked them not to ship until confirmed, but I also just got shipping notification but still pending and only shows the tracking number but not how many items - I just replied to ask again and sent them a screenshot of the buy 1 get 2 included in the listing. will see what/if they come back with anything…

        • +1

I haven't bought but I've messaged about 10mins ago asking them to confirm. Let's see.

        • I got a canned response about an hour ago saying they'll check with their team… I've sent a follow-up asking how their 'checking' is going..

          • +2

@BrutusB: Finally got a reply and they confirmed that the 2nd item would be a power bank - cancelling the order as it's not such a great deal anymore.

      • Oddly mine says two items. 😅 But yeah, it's probably the power bank.

        • The dimensions have been logged, and yup, seems like powerbank and battery. Oh well. Wasn't too bad of a deal.

    • The get 2 probably refers to you receiving 2 products: the power station and the power bank

  • I'm not sure if this will be suitable for a usage scenario I have in mind, so if anyone has any experience, please let me know. If I keep my nbn modem and nas plugged into it all the time, would it provide some time of usage in a power outage, provided that I keep this power station plugged in to charge all the time?

  • +1

Technically, yes. However, in a widespread neighbourhood power outage you may find that the local NBN distribution box also loses power. If your modem has a SIM backup this might be another workaround.

    • I have FTTP. When there was a neighborhood power outage as you describe, for over 24hrs, my NBN service continued to run on my UPS, for the whole period without interruption. So, it is not exactly as you say, however for other service types potentially there's a difference.

      • +1

I've had the opposite experience, where a neighbourhood power outage took out my FTTP NBN, despite my power backup. Perhaps the backup at the NBN location had failed for some reason, who knows? Obviously every neighbourhood and every outage is different, hence why I said it "may" be a problem. :-)

        • +1

Is your whole street on FTTP or just you?

If it is just you, then it is likely there isn't proper backup on the FTTP node.

      • What type of ups did you have that allowed you 24hrs of NBN usage?

  • VoltX junk brand, don't expect it to last past warranty

There is going to be a flood of low cost LFP Power Stations this year as the cost of LFP cells, particularly B grade, continues to fall.

  • I got one of these for $280ish recently. Ok at that price but a few gripes so wouldn’t really recommend it.

Handle sucks. Needs to fold flat.
Display is very basic. Power use / charging rate info would be handy.
AC outlet times out after 20min or so of no load, or very low load. Made it useless for powering my Christmas lights.
