Deal is only valid from 100km Radius from Sydney.
Check website for which package would best suit your household.
Prices start from;
1.5kW - $1350
2.0kW - $1900
3.0kW - $3200
4.0kW - $4250
5.0kW - $5350
To determine which size system would best suit your household; there is a couple of question you need to ask yourself:
1) How much is your electricity bill per quarter?
If the answer is less then $400 the you wouldn't need a system size larger than 1.5kW
between $400-$600, a 2kW
between $600-$800, a 3kw
Over a $1000, a 5kW.
These are only for optimal savings and owners can have any system size they like.
The second question you need to ask is "Is there somebody home during daylight hours to use the electricity"
As there is no point in getting a larger sized system and not using the electricity, as the electricity will be used in the house by all the idle appliances and always on appliances (fridge, phone, fax, cable, internet, etc)
Price is determined by size of system and brands of products used.
Government rebate reduces before the start of next year, each household rebate will be reduced by half.
Meaning that the prices of solar panel installations will increase as the government is no longer subsidizing majority of the cost.
Regarding the export price, that is determined by your electricity provider but is generally around the $0.08 mark which is why it is important to get a system size that best suits your household.
As for savings, a quick calculation below
Size of System * 5.141hrs (Hours of strong sunlight rounded down, taking into consideration cloudy days)
= Amount of electricity generated in a day * $0.22 (or however much the peak electricity cost is for your household)
equals approximate savings per day * 365 days in a year.
More information and calculations are found on the website.
*Note the price is on the website and the addition of an extra $350 for the level 2 electrician to install the meter and connect your system to the grid.
I am interested to get some solar power panel/hot water system, but pity no more rebate in QLD.
