too expensive for what it is even at that price for a digital.

My Casio A158 does the job for 1/8 of the price and looks better imo

The thing i also hate about the Tissot is the date being kept on a separate screen by pressing a button.

    • Second that. At this price you're paying for the sapphire crystal and the PRX strap and case design.

Not sure why people are comparing a completelt plastic watch with a flimsy stainless steel strap vs a stainless steel body watch with sapphire crystal.

Because who the hell buys a Swiss watch just to have something that looks identical to any run-of-the-mil Casio quartz digital model that costs less than half of this?

Nothing against Tissot personally, I've got Tissots in my collection but there's no way in hell I'd buy a Swiss brand for entry-level Casio functionality/aesthetics.

@Gnostikos: A Casio module probably costs about $5 to make, and there's nothing stopping people having more than one watch. I've spend more on G-Shocks and you can get Casios for stuff all (A158 cost me $27).

Maybe just say that the vintage style is not for everyone, and that's ok. A cheap resin watch isn't a fair comparison anyway, perhaps something like the Oceanus, which are more like $500 and a JDM import.

            • @G-rig: Do you ever actually read people's comments when you reply to them or do you just prefer to invent some alternate version of what you think they said in your mind?

I never said they couldn't and that's relevant to the discussion at hand… how?

Cool anecdote but we're not playing show and tell…

Maybe just say that the vintage style is not for everyone, and that's ok.

Maybe make a coherent point that's at least vaguely related to the comment you're replying to?

It's perfectly valid comparison as any cheap Casio digital watch (with a similar look) will achieve everything this Tissot does for under $100 dollars and will look virtually identical to everyone save for horology nerds.

If you want to more spend on a Tissot, then spend it on a model that actually emphasizes what Tissot are good at (fine mechanical/automatic movements and craftsmanship) instead of their "we can do digital too box-ticker" range.

This is like buying a Rolex digital quartz watch for $20,000 dollars just to be able to brag about a Rolex logo.

@Gnostikos: Yeah skimmed over it, try to ignore the silly comments.

looks identical to any run-of-the-mil Casio quartz digital

                But does it 🙄?

Your broad brush comments aren't exactly applicable anyway with with that logic the Quartz PRX should be inferior too, and cheap to make. If it was 60% I may have got one. Have done in the past but sold it, expensive for what it was, 40mm wears too big, tiny date window. The really need to come out with a 38mm no date. It's an entry level Swiss brand anyway so not throwing too much money at one.

Mate just get whatever you want, you seem upset about people's choices for some reason. I doesn't worry me what you do.

There are many Casios and G-Shocks over $200, so not really sure what you are on about. They would feel very different in hand to a cheap Casio, and $200 isn't a great deal of money as far as watches go. Perhaps go and look at them instead of embarrassing yourself.

@Gnostikos: Who the hell buys a watch at all these days?

Its jewelry, its cosmetic, and if you like the look and feel of it the buy it, if not then don't. For some, the weight and feel of a proper bracelet and a case matters.

            The two are not equal.

I bet next you will tell me gold plated and 24k gold is the same because they look alike.

Let us know what you think of it.

        • +1

Will do, it's at the post office.

    • You should see the price of Casio's version of this watch, the Casiotron…

      • Ah yes, $1000. Probably a more sensible comparison vs the cheapest ones that 'look the same' on Amazon.

  • Website is bugged for me. Can't add to cart

    • It's prob out of stock now but it was working when i was playing around with it in my cart a bit back

Whoever wants a Tissot watch with a Casio look is doing it all wrong

    • +1

Is it a Tissio or a Casiot?

      • A Catisso 🤔

        • More like an Oissit or Tossac since it's all wrong

  • +7

    Can we get prx?

Credit card: we got prx at home

  • I think it has been ozbargained

  • I was hoping it applied to other Tissots but nope

    • +1

it did, but they vanished when it was extra 30% off a couple weeks back - 27 diff Tissot models.

      • Will Hamilton ever go on sale on DJ?

        • Yeah I noticed they don't have them on sale at all this year and for a while. The max discount was 20% in the past. I suggest giving Wamada a call or looking at grey imports (jomashop).

PS. I thought these prx were out of stock last Thursday or something.

        • Yes but the most I've ever seen is 10% off. What I suggest is if the watch you want is available at the iconic - sign up there and get the 20% off voucher for your birthday.

          • @Stefce: Hamilton was 20% off the whole range, end of 2022 I think.
Anyone who is actually keen on a Hamilton, give Vincent at Wamada Jewellery a call, he doesn't mind doing deals.

      • Oh no, now that would have been a deal

  • This actually sold out?

This is cheaper + looks better https://www.amazon.com.au/Casio-A171WE-1ADF-Vintage-A171WE-1…

    • To each their own, again at $219.50, the value is there for the PRX bracelet and sapphire crystal. It's a controversial piece tho, no doubt about that.

    • +1

That would feel cheap and rattly bracelet no weight. Definitely not worth 80$ but each to their own.

  • +1

Weird back in stock but now no additional 50% off
