    Nah PS5 was $530 yesterday
I saw it in the first few minutes and could’ve bought it but decided not to as the games options aren’t great.

A brief window yes, most people would have missed out.

Some orders were cancelled… And the OPs account is now Deactivated…. (and was Associated with DJs)

      Definitely something fishy going on

Interesting, saved myself from a headache
Good price for this then, although I may wait till new models come out reducing price further and new games too. Will buy just for GTA 6

My $630 in the bank at 5% will turn into $730 in 3 years and I’ll buy the PS5 for $450 on ozbargain and a few games with what’s left over after tax 😎

Yep, still triggered I missed this.

Still worth it just for Demons souls! But yeah their exclusives for this gen have been way worse than previous…

I've got a huge stack of physical PS4 games and spent double that on digital games too. I think it was an awesome generation of games. The PS5 and Xbox Series have both been so disappointing to me, nothing exclusive that really grabs me.

This is the first gen that I don't own one of the consoles and just play everything on PC, I've got a game pass sub that I use on my PC and my friend uses on his Xbox Series S and that covers most of the Xbox titles.

I saw that post pretty early on as well and didn't put an order in despite the enticing price as the exclusives aren't a pull. Will keep on with the Xbox Series X.

That said, if Naughty Dog release something new for the PS5 that would get me over-the-line for sure ;)

    • where? prob the digital version, not worth getting..

      • +1

No, it was the full box and dice disc version. Was 30 per cent off. Post has been pulled I think, but I looked at it on the DJs website at the time and that was indeed the offer.

    • Bought one in the last sale for just over $600. Bought 2 games. The kids play Astro's Playroom but I don't touch it anymore. I'll probably sell it.

      • You can subscribe to PlayStation Plus Extra which is Sonys version of game pass. There's some decent titles on the PS5, what was the other game you bought?

For your kids might be good to get someone's old WiiU from eBay/Gumtree/Facebook marketplace and mod it then install some emulators. They're good consoles for offline play.

        • +1

I got Ratchet and clank rift apart and horizon forbidden west. The kids play the switch. I'm cutting back on subscriptions atm but ps+ might be worth it for a month or so just to try some other games.

  • I bought all my PS consoles for the corresponding Uncharted games. :((( So no PS5 for me.

But you don't want Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection PS5?
Were you can play the remaster of the remaster of the PS4 Game?

Also Interest you in Last of Us 1 the remaster of the remaster?

      • This is almost tempting. Remaster of the remaster…hmmm Then worth a shot

    • Me too

      • You have fine taste my friend!

I did a quick google and it says the PS5 is backward compatible with nearly all PS4 games. Anyone around used their PS4 discs in a PS5? I'm on a PS4 Pro and tempted to upgrade, but would like to hear some real world testimonials from random internet people before I drop some cash on a new console.

    • +5

I've still got a lot of PS4 games that I use on my PS5. In fact, out of the 10 games 1 own, only 1 is a PS5 game. Loading time are quicker obviously and the PS4 controllers work with PS4 games on PS5.

I upgraded when EB had a PS4 trade in offer for the PS5 for $480.

What I've been struggling with though, is finding time to play my games 😅😅

It is backwards compatible with your PS4 games. I recommend buying a USB hard drive to connect to the PS5, you can't play PS5 games from external drive but you can store all of your PS4 titles on it which leaves the limited space available on the PS5 for PS5 titles.

Regret purchasing the PS5 when I already have a series X.

Most of the good PS5 games are available on Steam and allow PS account login. Series X has an amazing array of games, also available on PC, but it’s much easier
To have a console that just works.

    • Most of the Xbox games are on Gamepass and work either through your PC installing them or you can just stream them through Gamepass which works really well with an Xbox pad connected to the PC.

      • Also a good option. But I think support for the Xbox is important, I’d hate Microsoft to drop out of the console and gaming space- less competition for Sony.

        • They just invested USD$68.7 billion in acquiring ABK. I don't think they're planning to "drop out" anytime soon.

  • Wait and it will get cheaper once Xbox Showcase games start being released.
I've watched a few die hard PlayStation folks and they were mad asf with that, Sony will have to cut price and no decent games available.

  • Is there a "pro" version coming out? Like how PS4 had the pro with the upgraded graphics card? I've been holding out but will wait until GT8 gets released.

  • Can someone tell me why I should opt for the disc over digital? I understand the ability to get games' trade-in value, etc. from JB and EB games, but is there any other reason? Most of the time now, when you put a disc in, there's a 20+gb update needed, so there's no benefit in speed of gaming.

Because at Big W, you can buy Assassin's creed mirage for $39, and on the Playstation store, its still like $80.

There are multiple options to buy cheap games with a disc.
It's an extra $100 now, that you will save very quickly when you buy your third game, or sell one.

I bought Spiderman 2 from Big W for $70 when it was $100 online. I used gift cards.
Played it for many months - completed - sold on Gumtree for $60.

    • In addition to what DnA-bargain said,

      1) being able to trade/lend borrow games with friends is a huge benefit with physical (I rarely resell/trade in)

      2) blu-ray player

      3) owning the game so when PS store gets phased out or when sony decides PS5 is no longer worth supporting (this is more applicable with Switch since you have less mandatory updates)

      4) games can get pulled from store front. E.g Deadpool due to licensing issues or crappy developers don't think you should be allowed to own the game

    • Thank you both. Great points. Disc it is
