Xbox Series X 1TB Console $639 Delivered @ Target

530

Still not an all time low, but close.

After a hiatus in Xbox Series X deals (since Jan?) https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/xbox-series-x it seems we're back on!

Amazon have price matched https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/850585 (title here needs updating)
JB have dropped, not as low but are including COD MW3.

Will other retailers price match? (like Big W who I just bought giftcards for so I could purchase one today @ $699)
Will someone else go lower than $639? (probably yes, but not until 15-30 minutes after I make my purchase)

    Darn it!

I just paid $62 for a Series controller!

For just $580 more, I could've gotten a console as well!

After Microsoft screwing me when my disc drive on my console stopped reading discs 3 months out of warranty last month and there was absolutely no one to do anything (the Phillipines call centre is trash) they'll never be getting another cent of my money. They wanted $550 to repair the console when a new one is now $639.

Traded it in to EB for $480. I had been loyal to Xbox since xbox 360 days.
It's very black and white over at Xbox now.. you're either in warranty or you're not. Even if it's a day after warranty expiring, you're out of warranty.

I then discovered a Reddit thread where it's happening to heaps of people… It's not RROD this time, it's lasers going in disc drives.

(don't want to get political here)
I tried every trick in the book 😔 consumer affairs no longer can force a company to fix or remedy anything, it's just a guideline but not mandated. To enforce a company you'd have to take legal action and win.
When you have a shit kicker on a phone in the Phillipines saying it's out of warranty and you've already had 2 years warranty when other countries are 12 months, what do you do?
Ask for a team leader and they disconnected the phone call.

The ACCC has powers but they don't deal with individual cases and deal with mass complaints.

For a $639 item I don't think it would hold much weight… Even a laptop would be worth more than a console.

JBHIFI also said they could send it off for repair but without money Microsoft never fixes anything anymore (who would even dream to take them to court over a $639 item when it would cost thousands and thousands to do so)

Fair enough mate. Don't think it would be considered political to say consumer protection in Australia is pretty weak.

    • So they used to honour warranty out of warranty period but now they only honour it within the warranty period?

      • This is what surprised me 😔 I guess this generation margins must be so tight that it's something they had to clamp down on.

    • So, you traded in an Xbox Series X console with a major fault into EB and they actually took it and even gave you $480 for it. Did you tell them that the disc drive doesn't work?.

  • Hmmmm tempting
