Was anyone expecting it to support the base model?
When you think about it, the M1 which is supported is a variant of the A14 (Used on iPhone 12 range), but the A15 (M2 variant) and A16 (M3 variant) aren't supported. A17 Pro is a variant on the M4.
They could easily support at least the 14 Pro (running A16), but simply choose not to to 'give users the best experience whilst milking their wallets'.
I'm not as familiar with chips as you are. I just thought it would be Apple-like to lock it exclusively behind the Pro/Max lines so if it was possible, I would expect consideration for 14/13/12/11 Pro/Max before 15 base/plus. 🤷🏻♂️
@Nillionaire: FYI the 15 has the same chip as the 14 pro, so theyre ruling out the 2022 release 14 pro with that announcement. I thought they would have let that since it also has the dynamic island feature. Who knows, maybe they'll 'release it' to the 15/14Pro after they beta it.
