Best price it has been for a while. Still expensive but RRP is $339. Cheapest it's ever been was $276.08 in May 2023
Also same price at Big-W:

It has the PS logo on it ;-)
You get to pay for overpriced joystick modules once the potentiometers act up.
If you can find them haha nowhere has them in stock.
It is a pro/elite controller from Sony, only thing I would consider getting it is being able to change the joysticks when you get stick drift. Does seem overpriced though, not sure what the Xbox equivalent price though.
Xbox Elite Controller are $250. But yeah, main selling point for the DSE is replaceable sticks and extra mappable buttons on the back.
There are other features like replaceable stick caps and you can change how the triggers work.
Mappable as in stratagem mappable?
This controller - at this price - plays the games for you so you don’t have to….Also washes dishes, irons clothes and babysits for you when your hands are ‘occupied’ with the lady in your life.
$299 for this controller is way too much still for what it offers over the standard Dualsense. $150-$200 should be the standard price, not $340.
Is there a cheaper way to get a PS5 controller with a back button? I like to use one back paddle to jump or crouch for fps games but $300 is a lot
Extremerate paddle kits are far more affordable and pretty simple to install too. Been using them on one of my Dualsense controllers for a few years now and it is a great solution.
This looks like a good option. Did you do it without soldering. I am interested in doing this (seems like its around $60 or so) but I'm scared to accidentally break my controller.
I have lots of soldering experience, so adding that section of the install was a no brainer for me, but it is perfectly fine to install the kit without doing the soldering part, you just won't be able to map your touchpad as paddle inputs. It is also a super straight forward install if you aren't doing the soldering part. Following their YouTube tutorial on the process makes it pretty hard to stuff anything up.
@XVX: Thanks again for the tip! I got the extremerate kit today and it works perfectly! It took me around 90 mins to install (I did it without soldering) and was quite finnicky to do it carefully to avoid accidentally breaking anything, but it all worked out in the end.
I bought the spare controller on sale for $70 and bought the '4 metal button' kit for $60 so it ended up way cheaper than the ridiculously overpriced Edge controller.
I got a PDP victrix pro bfg for 200 on ebay, it's pretty solid, long battery too, look it up, find some reviews and make your own decision, otherwise get a peddle kit like @XVX suggested
I commented above with more details but the paddle kit worked perfectly :D
Will this thing give me a happy ending for this price?
get fresh batteries, set on vibrate and you are set
Ah come on, you emailed me an alert when I wanted the normal dualsense controller :(
Oh those are on special too! Nice
Seeeesh I remember purchasing a whole console with controller + game for this much!
I'd say wait for another sale coupon whatever. This should be the normal rrp
Sony was asking for too much right from beginning. There are better options for much cheaper, if you don't find yourself trapped in their ecosystem.
There are lots of Hall effect joystick controllers on the market if you don't mind asymmetric layouts. There are some which have trigger stops and micro-switched face buttons as well. First party actually leaves a lot to be desired, feature-wise.
$34 for a DualSense module at JB (currently out of stock) and how long will those last until the inevitable drift?
Any recommendations for specific Hall effect controllers? I’ve had to return 5 DualSense controllers under warranty in the past 2 years (for stick drift and faulty headphone jacks), but the 3 DualShock controllers I bought for my PS4 Pro back in 2016 are still going strong.
Depends on your preferred platform. If it's PC, there's a lot to choose from. Personally I have been using a Vader 3 Pro for about 300 or so hours and it's been good.
If you're on PS5, I don't think you have many options. There's the Nacon Revolution 5 Pro and some DIY solutions (no experience with either).
Thanks so much for the info - I’m on PS5 so I’ll look up the Nacon option, and check whether the Vader 3 Pro is compatible.
Wow… That's a lot for controller? What special about this one in specific?
