In b4 lowest tier 256gb chip on M2 is half the speed of M1.

    They went from two 128gb chips in M1 to one 256gb chip in M2, halving the speed and thus halving the performance of swap memory when your 8gb of base tier non-upgradeable ram is full.

Got a M3 8/256 for $1538 a few months ago, so not much more than this M2
