used to be 130k and then 110k. Last deal was 100k.

    • +8

Meanwhile, qff points value plummeted off the cliff. Why even bother?

      • +8

i can still redeem them on partner airlines like Cathay/JAL… so to me, still worth it.

      • Still around 1c a point I think.

        • i've seen people still selling them @ 1.4c pp, same as VFF.

          • @hawkeye93: Hi @hawkeye93,
Where do people buy/sell these, please?

      • yes a 7 hour business flight for 90k points (3.5k AUD), such bad value

        • Which airline/flight is that example with?

        • -2

You haven't seen the oneway over 200k points ones yet.

          • @[Deactivated]: you mean the rewards plus? yeah i'm just going to stick to rewards classic flights.

      • Yeah when did this happen? Was booking flights and noted that suddenly point costs had been adjusted from the usual.

      • QF probably trying to reduce the number of people getting into Points Club I reckon

    • +5

Shrinkflation hitting imaginary points now. In 100 years we'll be paying them for the privilege of having a CC!

      • I guess when cash is gone, this will be the case.

P.S. this is rubbish. Go for a Westpac platinum (existing customer).

        • Westpac requires Qantas spend to get the 2 x lounge passes with ANZ they just give them to you otherwise I'd prefer to go Westpac Black and ANZ Platinum as ANZ Platinum has much better points than any other card (75k vs 60k). I don't want 2 cards with 15k limit

          • @Johnx: Talking about the Westpac platinum. 90k awards points for $0, or a $50ish charge for QF, but half the amount. Smaller limit on the platinum. So get another 2 cards and still be under the $15k.

    • I even got 160k qff at once

    • My missus had this when it was 160k back in 2022

  • +1

I rmb when this was 140k pts or something…

    • Obviously redemptions aren’t any cheaper nowadays but back then points were probably selling for 1c not 1.4c

    • +3

I remember 99c cheeseburgers and 2 for $6 bacon dekuxes too!

  • +15

I signed up to this when it was 160k qff points. Bloody hell that was only about 18 months ago

    • +1

Me too …. nothing has really come close for QF-branded cards since then!!

    • +1

yeah i got the 160k points + 20k bonus from qantas as well.
trying to find next card but the bonuses are meh

    • +1

to be fair that was abnormally amazing. I remember reading it thinking am i missing something

  • does this include enrolment into qff program fee?

  • -2

Signed up for this the other day, should get me to 300k points

    • +2

350 is the goal though yeah

    • +17

I signed up a week ago, will get me to a million points.

      random statement

  • +1

I signed up to this card a few months ago for seemingly exactly the same deal? Not sure what’s new

    • Yes, sign-up to this card back in April with exactly same promo.

  • +3

90k points for 425 is only worth if you can get the annual fee refund. NAB Qantas premium gets you 60k (assuming you churn before the first year) for 150 but non refundable.

    • you get 200 back so actually only 225 for 90k qff

      • oh, fair point

  • +4

Just got my application approved a couple of days ago. Be prepared to get several calls from their rep after you apply who will be questioning every line item of your bank statements and to send them more evidence.
I was mentally ready for this having read from previous posts so definitely can agree that ANZ is the worst when it comes to the application process.
Now I have to go to their bank next week to verify my IDs in person even though I have verified it online already!

But bring on the 90k qff after 3 months!

    • +7

Im with ANZ and didnt get no calls. Approved on spot.
Guess you bank with another bank.

    • Very different experience than mine. Got this card a couple of months ago on the same offer, Online Application was followed by an email requesting Pay slips which I promptly submitted. Somehow the system sent the request again, called the bank and they said okay to ignore the second request, I submitted it anyway.
Next day, called the bank asking if they needed anything else, they just wanted to verify the last closed card because one of the credit agencies did not have it updated, sent them the letter by email and was approved in minutes after that.

      • I just had the same thing, submitted the application and uploaded pay slips on Friday, received the same automated email about providing docs on Tuesday. Have sent them an email asking them to look for what I uploaded as there wasn't a number to call, will see what they say but doesn't bode well.

    • +1

Just got my application approved a couple days ago and no calls or anything after submitting payslips.

    • +6

Never send bank statements or give the banks access to the online verification crap. PDF payslips is the way.

    • Yep i had some troubles this week too.

Because my payslip had a line for parental leave, they wanted signed documentation from my employer about the full details of the leave.
(I take 1 day of paid parental leave a week).

Even though the parental leave on the payslip clearly outlined it was paid and no change to my salary haha…
Was such a headache dealing with them.

      • +1

Last time I tried to sign up they asked for (in order):
        1. Pay slips
        2. Bank statement to confirm salary
        3. Copy of employment contract to confirm salary or Letter from CEO confirming my salary

When they requested #3, told them to get stuffed.

        • Copy of employment contract to confirm salary or Letter from CEO confirming my salary

          WTF?

          • @timhn: Can also be for a second more annoying reason instead of employment verification: applied recently and they literally go through the bank statement line by line with a finetooth comb interrogating you over the phone about the nature of the expenses and/or not adding up to the dot against what you wrote down as a rough figure on the application. This was after the initial payslip submission.

      • Same thing happened with me!

      • I would've already told them to go F themselves before it ever got to this stage.
That's all completely unnecessary and over the top.

You're taking out a credit card, not a mortgage.

    • I had the same experience with ANZ, it was a pain. The application took ages, they called asking for the same information I'd put on my application form, then I had to mess around going into a branch to ID myself. It was a lot more work than I expected.

    • I put my online application in with 3 months worth of payslips and received a call clatifying all my spending. They asked me to send in another one and during the call, I got a "tentative approval" email.

    $425 is killing the deal…

    • +2

      $200 back

        • +4

90k points is 3.5k in business class seat redemptions

        • +1

It’s worth $1000 or more if you redeem for business class tickets.

  • +1

I currently have a Qantas Frequent Flyer Amex. I have had it for 2 years. Am I still eligible for this deal or do I need to cancel this card, wait 18 months, then proceed?

    • +5

      You're eligible as that's a different bank/institution all together.

      • Cheers

  • Shrinkflation

  • +3

RIP was getting ready to sign up for this card again. 10K fewer points and $50 less cash back than previous iteration.

  • What about this ANZ deal with 180K rewards points and $375 annual fee and $150 cash back
    https://www.anz.com.au/personal/credit-cards/rewards-black/

    • +3

Points aren't QFF, so don't let the big number mislead you. Might be worth checking the points conversion rate?

      • I am quite sure these points can be converted to $800 JB gift cards including many more outlets.

        • -1

You can take out both cards

          • @Drakesy: Do you mean these two does not share the same 12 month cooldown of eligibility?

          • @Drakesy: would also like a confirmation on this

            • @plal: You can take out both cards?
Not sure whats up for debate

      • +1

180K reward points convert to 108K Velocity point (20% conversion bonus). ANZ Black Rewards is better deal in my opinion.

    • points aren’t transferable to QFF, but for Velocity it will be 90,000 pts.

      • Even if it is 3k minimum spend compared to Qantas which is 5k spend?

    • or straight to a good airline partner like singapore airlines where you can actually redeem points for premium cabins

      • +2

Currently sitting in singapore airlines business after redeeming velocity points.

Not restricted to singapore airlines' club

        • did you convert velocity -> kris flyer points? was wondering what the best use of velocity points are

          • @discountdong: negative
Direct use of velocity points in the virgin booking portal.

          • @discountdong: If you convert direct remember krisflyer has a hard expiry of 3 years.

I always convert the virgin, cop the loss in a double conversation but gives me flexibility to only convert to krisflyer when I need to book and then I can continue to churn velocity point cards

So in the long run it works out

            • @MrThing: You cam book sia flights through virgin though without needing to convert ;)

    • same same, if transfer to velocity (when there's no bonus transfer), you get 90k points
1 card get you 90k velocity for 225, 1 card get you 90k qff for 225.

This offer has been going for a few weeks? I applied in late May

  • What income do you have to be on to get approved? $15K minimum limit is a lot for an average person

    • +1

Not much, I've had 3 cards in last 6 years with 15k or more and I only earn 82k now. I got one when I was on 50k. Latest amex gave me 32.5k about 6 months ago, had to reduce that 😳. I have no idea what they base it on.

      • amex are insane with limits - I always manually set it.

  • Can I pay for my car rego? Still counting or not?
If not, do I buy gift card at woolie or coles? Thanks

    • Yes , you can pay rego with it. No, it will not qualify. Yes you can buy giftcards to meet the spending requirements.

      • @timhn Could me please tell me why car rego doesn't count? I couldn't find what are eligible purchases.

        • It's a government payment. Check the T&Cs you will see that any payment to a government body would excluded to earn points.

          • @timhn: Thanks @timhn.. I have checked the T&Cs but I think it still count for speading criteria..

            • @san87: have you done any government related payments (Rego) on the card and did it count towards the spending requirement for the bonus?

    • get zippay - then it will qualify

      • Really ? Thanks!

      • Hi bohn, Zippay since this is my first time using a credit card, I'm a bit confused about using it for Dot Rego payments to build credit score. What processing is correct? Should I register my credit card under payment methods and generate a single-use card for Dot Rego payments? or use Zip Pay for a single-use payment and then make an extra payment?
        Thank you.

        • you always need to add a payment method in Zip in order to pay it off. So add your credit card to zip as a payment method.

Then what I usually do, is generate a single use card in Zip, and pay the rego/whatever with that. Then at the end of the month, pay off the zip pay with your nominated card.

I think in the first month you register your zip account, your payment isn't due until the end of the following month (the app will tell you the date). Eg, if you sign up now in June, most likely, after you make a payment it will say nothing due until end of July. However it usually works on a monthly basis. In August, you'll need to make a payment by end of August and so on.
