[VIC] Electricity: Supply 54.29¢/Day, Flat Usage Rate 25.65¢/kWh Offer) @ Arcline by RACV (Citipower Areas)

820

Electricity Compare says these rates kicked in late March which means I just missed out when I signed up in Feb (it was 70.99c daily and flat rate was 26.92c, the same flat rate is now 25.65c with 54.29c daily)

I only use about a kWh per day so the daily charge's great for me, big families may well do better with another mob.

If you're with Arcline and on the old rate call in and switch

Rates for RACV members are the same so far as I can tell, referrals apply ($50 referrer and referree), just put referral number in the "how did you hear about us" field when signing up

Edit: Thanks theredrabitt — RACV members get $125 credit through this deal apparently still active

Referral: random (40)

$50 for both referrer & referee. Input the referral code when answering "How did you hear about Arcline?" during signup.

Fair call, though as there's no lock in contract, just wait till you get sign up bonus and a couple of bills then compare and switch again if a better deal comes up.
Alternatively just call retailer with better rate and ask them to match.
      That's the ozbargain way

    • I'm guessing we'll need to switch retailers to take advantage of the price drops?

      • You can switch rates without penalty, the catch is knowing there’s a cheaper rate you’re eligible for

    • What’s happening next month?

        Annual price change

Yeah those rates are useless without at least postcode and distribution zone. In powercor you won't have less than $1 daily charge, it has been above that for over a very long time.

      Located in a Powercor zone…Daily 75.05 (c/day) and Any time (All kWh) 28.09 (c/kWh).

CitiPower - Eastern suburbs for me:

    Any time (All kWh)
    25.54 (c/kWh)

    Daily Supply Charge
    42.59 (c/day)

With OVO energy, we also have 25c/Kwhr but 92c/day supply charge. So whilst we could save, I think the quality of life improvement from us being able to blast the AC and heaters (which we would otherwise not use) is worth staying on Ovo

    • Daily Supply Charge 42.59 (c/day)

      Damn.

    • Yikes.

      That's 2002 prices for Adelaide

  • I’m still cheaper with Covau.

  • Western Vic PowerCor:
    28c/ kWhr
    75c/ daily

Not terrible, but cheaper with OVO and a few others. All electric heating we go through 30kWhr a day atm which adds up

Red Energy in Vic, 0.9779 supply charge, 0.2219 per kWh.
Been on the same plan forever and mid last year they raised the rates on it to ~30c kwH and 1.2 per day. At the same time they introduced the "new" plan with the above rates that were very similar to the old plan rates before the change.
Sure, they would have emailed about it but the first time I noticed it was when the bill (for mid winter) came through.
Got solar panels at the end of the year and we got switched to TOU rates (someone else took that call and there was a big push to do this from the sales/tech person), it took a couple of phone calls and 2 months on TOU to get them to switch us back to the single rate.
The rates are good but I now I read every email they send (even the spam) and keep an eye on the website for plan changes.

South Australia is also high compared to all these

        So bad hey

  • Sounds like an awful rate (decent daily, horrific usage), but if it’s actually compares well then go for it. Check the VIC govt comparison site (if you’re in VIC) with your actual usage though, easy comparing with smart meter data.

My rates are 66.47c/day supply and 17.42/kwh usage with CovaU (higher advertised rates but 27% discount).

  • I’m with globird cheapest outer east Melb, .204c/kwh and 80c daily. In vic we got the energy compare every year too…

  • do you have to pay connection/disconnection fees if you are with same supplier?

E.g. with Jemena through Energy Australia changing to Jemena through Arcline?

    • connection/disconnection fees

I’ve switched 3 times in the last 18 months without being billed connection/reconnection.

There may be a final read fee if you don’t have a smart meter

  • I am paying $1.19 per day and 36.6 c per kWh in Melbourne. This is cheap. Time to switch.

  • Signed up without an racv acc.. see how we go
