  • My Das keyboard of ~20 years old is almost dead, I have to keep using a hair dryer to get the connectors working again.
Any idea if this keyboard will last long? Logitech peripherals have always died 6-24months for me.

Hey Charzy, I have two of these (various versions), one is over 5 years old. This is a great price https://www.amazon.com.au/CORSAIR-Mechanical-Gaming-Keyboard…

      • When you say two of these, do you mean two of the corsairs?

      • Currently have a K63 from 2017. Great build quality. Splashed some water on it last year and the keys were ghosting. Though they returned to normal soon after.

have to keep using a hair dryer to get the connectors working again.

haha but well done, ~20 years!

      • +1

At this rate I'm tempted to put it in the oven at a temperature that's safe for plastics but enough to 'resolder' the connectors.

        • +1

Resolder the joints, reflowing old solder will just crack again.

Logitech keyboards are my Hilux. My G710+ has been going strong for 10 years

      • +3

I have different expericence with G910, ~ 5 years old, "backspace" and "c" have developed double click.

        • -3

          Not bad after 5 years.

        • +2

          Same experience, but with the keys "n p r o b h u"…. the rest seem ok….🤔

        • My G512 has the same issue for 's' and ctrl sometimes doesn't work.

        • Oh interesting! Hi there, G910 owner here, just recently had backspace start to play up - skipping or double-clicking, just like it's going dicky. So far it's MOSTLY just that key but I reckon a few others are occasionally doing it too. Bought mine… Late 2016, maybe 2017? It's lasted amazingly, never a problem (nor has my accompanying G900) but this is really giving me the shits.

          • @Sam of Ham: try take the cap off and clean with compressed air, it works sometimes.

            • @wintersnow911: Ah sadly I've tried, given her a good deep clean in the dishwasher with air, cottonbuds, soap and water, but no change. I think it's just had enough of my violent typing.

      • +3

this one wont last as long.

        • Can confirm, mine died in about ~2 years. This was about 2 years ago.

      • I had this exact keyboard. My 'S' key now double pressing and ctrl sometimes doesn't work. Keyboard also isn't repairable.
It's a good price but don't expect it to last forever.

anyone knows of a keyboard that is :

    • wireless
    • mechanical
    • has volume wheel

    to recommend?

    • +2

If you don't want to faff around too much with custom stuff, I'd recommend taking a look at what Keychron has to offer

    • +3

Keychrons are generally good, (Had a K8 pro and recently got a q3 max.)

Q series mostly got the volume knob, only max range has wireless conn, else you are stuck with a wire + bluetooth

      • thanks - some of the Q-series from Keychrons do look like what I'm after!

      • Q pro have BT wireless, Q Max and Q HE have BT and 2.4GHz wireless.

V max series also have both BT and 2.4G. Basically Q series with plastic chassis.

I bought an A.Jazz brand one about 8 months ago and I'm happy with it. They have bluetooth and 2.4 with dongle. https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0C13GTV6Q
I got a 75% size one with a little TFT screen in place of the End key. Fun novelty but keeps bad time.

  • Had this for a little while.
If you want a mechanical Keebs that is good outta the box, spend a bit more and get a keychron.

    These are pretty crap imo.

    • +2

You just have to hope that you don't have any issues as their support is absolutely useless. I bought one last year and it had a problem with 2 of the keys not registering all the time, both myself and the person at the shop I bought it from verified the issue, they sent it back to Keychron and they had it for 2 months before sending it back saying that they couldn't see the issue.

It has also since developed an issue with swapping to Mac mode randomly so your windows key and alt key get swapped. I don't want to send it back because its a problem that happens every few days and if they couldn't diagnose a key issue that occurs every few presses I don't have much hope.

      Huge waste of 250 bucks.

      • hmmm.
        Good call out.

I bought from mastex, local storefront for Keychron (Oakleigh VIC). Hopefully nothing breaks

        • +1

Mine was having issues pretty much straight out of the box so hopefully if its been good for you so far you shouldn't have any issues.

Its a shame about the issues because its by far the nicest feeling keyboard I have ever used.

  • +9

Save yourself the misery, don't buy this keyboard. I had 2 or 3 over the span of a few years, each replaced under warranty because they all developed the EXACT same double typing issue.

    • +3

Had one, three different issues on three different keys, including keybounce. Not good and not worth the money.

  • +1

    Thanks OP, got one.

My DuckyOne has developed many faulty LEDs and it is really annoying. This is also the replacement Ducky, after the initial one had the same issue and also a 'double-space' issue. Very disappointed in Ducky, having thought I was purchasing a top quality keyboard.

    • Ducky is not top quality, this one ain't too good either. Switches are scratchy and you'll be lucky if you don't develop the double typing issue too.

  • This isn't a wireless right? Looking for something wireless one which pairs with a Logitech bolt dongle.

  • Sorry to hijack,
Any deals on keychron split? Think I may get bitten by the keyboard bug 🐞

    • +2

      centrecom has some good deals.

  • Got one just to play helldivers 2 so I can macro.
The switches on these are crap imo. Not your typical browns.

I have a keychron k4, annepro1 and ducky and this isn't even close when it comes to typing. If you're just smashing WASD and using the number keys, sure.

The G815 and G915 (wireless) are the ones to get but they haven't been on sale for a while.

  • yeah g815 don’t really go on sale …..G810 still going strong but g815 would be nice.

  • Is there such a thing as a mechanical keyboard that is quiet when typing in an office or on phone/video calls?

Or perhaps another keyboard that can be recommended, ideally wireless.

    • Yes ofc, buy a hot swappable keyboard and put in your own silent switches. Plenty of options out there

  • +2

Save your money I wouldn't recommend buying this product, bought this Logitech keyboard and multiple key RGB LEDs have gone offset, they'll display different colours then selected, plus the rubberised coating isn't very durable and will degrade overtime, If I were to buy a new keyboard I would purchase a hot-swappable keyboard, so I can swap and easily repair the switches in future, not this low quality Logitrash keyboard.

  • +1

Have the same keyboard. After 1.5 years of light use 4 keys only have red light instead of full RGB spectre

  • +1

First I had LED issues, then now keys - sppace and some letters eg pp just then doubble registering.

  • Still use this and bought when it first released. Love this keyboard, it just feels premiums.

  • code still working for anyone?

    • +1

Just tried and said it was invalid

  • I got this about 6 months ago for $50 from Officeworks by getting them to price match a very dodgy website lol

The trick is to find the oldest, least tech savvy looking employee in the store and getting them to serve you.

It's been really good so far, no complaints and it feels like a quality product.
