      Depends on what you want to shoot. 360 degree video and/or 8K? Definitely this. 360 degree video is very useful when I'm riding.

      I've got like the gopro 8 or 9 and I regret it. Don't use it too much and the battery is shit - doesn't last long and it gets hot.

        The X3 and X4 gets hot while recording too. Seems like all these companies are prioritising performance and size over heat dissipation. Its definitely a difficult engineering challenge, but they release model after model with the same form factor, with the same issues

              @pitythekid: I get it, the same with GoPros. Some get hot some don't apparently. I have never noticed it being hot, and I record really long videos too on my kayak and hikes.

            @Lucille Bluth: My X3 didnt, my X4 doesnt really either… I record a decent chunk of 8k on the X4 and its gets warm only, never had it shut down yet or anything like that.

      Not at all - the device itself is waterproof and there's plenty of underwater footage. What some people misunderstood was that the attachable lens protector isn't a tight seal so it's possible for some water to leak through between the camera lens and lens protector.

        Assuming the X4 build quality is the same as X3, this is not correct. If you want to take the camera into the water then a dive case is highly recommended. Saying this as an owner of a X3 which has just died a few days ago from water leakage, and who always ensured that all gaskets were properly sealed.

            @Clear: Agreed. I wish they didn't advertise this camera as "waterproof up to 10 metres" - I do have a dive case, but I thought it'd be safe if I was recording just on the surface :(

      I've been using X2 since 2 years as a dashcam, in some of the worst rain ever, still going :)

    Just remember that 8K as a 360 deg image is not very high res. By the time you zoom in on any section it’s quite low res

      it depends on where you will go, what you will do.

      pocket 3 is not an action cemara. i have pocket 3, but am considering this x4 or osmo action 4 for the skiing season.

      Pocket 3 has amazing low light performance and does absolute great color reproduction. I don't know how they do it, but it got the absolute best outdoor videos I seen. Totally on par with the professional photo cameras.

      Not particularly rugged though, zero waterproofness and gimbal will not survive action shots or drops.

    I have been researching into the action camera options and have been considering Insta360 but they don't have an service center in Australia. I think from memory you have to send it to Hongkong for which you have to pay the shipping even if it is in warranty which I found to be outrageous. It is quite clear that they don't value the Australian markets and even the consumers with their shitty warranty and return policy.

    Have been using the camera for a week now. Would highly recommend.

    For any sort of shooting underwater, you need to get the x4 dive case, as it will not stitch properly otherwise. Also get the silicone rubber protector, because the included lens guards are rubbish, get foggy, and I've lost one side already.

    It is also great for solo travel when you want to see yourself and surroundings in video.

    I mainly got it for underwater (and later snowboarding) as it is so valuable not having to think about where the camera is facing and you can focus on having fun.
